Comment: Front bumper of my car was cracked and messed up my radiator causing my car to over heat. Gave them a call and had Grand Valley Towing ( affiliated with them ) pick my car up. Where as muffler man on 28th by the mall had my car for a week and did not fix it, also forgot to put two major parts back in my car that Westside Garage made me aware of. Muffler man also quoted me $500, so I hope you see where Im getting at... Definitely recommend Westside Garage, great trustworthy people.

Comment: I have reviewed Westside before but I have to give them another 5 stars! All they care about is their customers. Someone rear ended me and drove away so unable to file a claim, I was stressed about finding someone to fix it for a good price. Brought it to Dave after being quoted 1200... he fixed it for half of that. It took his guy 2 days to fix and they gave me a loaner!!!! I would not recommend anyone other than Dave and his guys! Best shop in Michigan.

Comment: My windshield wiper broke on the drivers side so I needed to get that fixed asap. I went up there on my lunch break & they told me theyd fix it right then & there for me. I was so thankful bc I thought itd take a couple days to order parts, etc. I needed a new wiper blade motor & I went in at 1ish & had my car back at 5. Since I dont work too far away they were able to give me a ride back to my job. By far the best customer service Ive ever had in my life. The staff are all so kind & it definitely has a homey touch to the place. You can tell they really care about you. I need other work done on my car and Ill definitely be going back there. Comment: I came to them on Monday (a seriously busy day for mechanics shops, I know!) With a Jeep Wrangler throwing codes like crazy with a bad camshaft sensor. I brought my Jeep in around 1pm and talked to Tommy, told him what was going on and asked for an estimate on time and price. I got a straight and level answer, they were busy and may not be able to get to it till Tuesday. Well, they call me around 3, say they were able to squeeze it in and get working on it, and asked about a few other things they noticed could use work, all things I knew needed to be done (spark plugs, etc). They had the vehicle fixed and running by 5:30pm the same day and even offered to stick around for me to come get it. Super nice and honest crew. Absolutely earned a repeat customer out of me.

Comment: After being quoted nearly $2000 in repairs on my 2006 Saturn Ion by another company, I asked friends for recommendations on other mechanics. We were told about West Side Garage and how amazing they were. We took our car in to West Side for a second opinion and turns out it was only vacuum line. What we were originally told was a $2000 was only $90. We couldn’t be happier and now have ourselves a new mechanic we trust. They are not a cash grab garage and value their customers. From the beginning Ive been really impressed with their quality of service. It really seems like they go out of their way to make sure you feel well taken care of. Comment: So - broke down on a busy street with a totally dead car during a period of much snow and severe cold. The drivers side window was 1/2 down and no way to put it back up, no electric at all, no emergency flashers either; kept expecting someone to plow into the back of the car. Called several towing companies and was told itd be 4 - 6 hours. Called Westside garage; they picked the car up in under 2 hours, diagnosed the problem (dead battery cell and fried alternator) and had it fixed by the end of the next day. I thought the cost was fair and the service excellent. Thanks Dave!p.s. I was just reading some other reviewers who said they were given a discount for a positive review - I wasnt told that. Maybe need to go back and see Dave :)

Dave not only found time to diagnose the problem for this out of town family but he fixed it with parts he had purchased for his personal truck. Comment: They did great work for me on my 97 CR-V. I came in with a complicated electrical issue (they were the 3rd garage to try to fix it) and they gave me a great deal on what should have been a very labor expensive repair. After removing the alternator and battery, running diagnostic on both of them, and reinstalling them, they began to dig into the dash wiring behind the fuse box. The cleaned extensive corrosion and replaced a few wires. I was charged for 3 hours of electrical labor, though they must have actually put in 2-3x that much work.

I was perfectly OK with that just hoping they might get it in sooner if possible. Low and behold I got a call a few hours later. Dave didnt want me to be without my car for the weekend. Comment: My sons car had to be towed to Westside due to the electrical sysytem shutting down. Dave was able to look at it quickly and gave me the exact reason for the electrical issue and during the inspection he found that the front ball joints were really bad. He also indicated that the struts on the front where worn but didnt need repaired immediately. He fixed the electrical issue, the front ball joints, and advised me to have the other repairs in a couple.months. Dave also sent me pictures of the ball joints and said that they were the worst ones he has seen in 20 years that were still intact. Our family is thankful to Dave and his team for being thorough in their inspection of our car and HONEST about what needed immediate attention and what could wait for a little while. Comment: I dropped my car off Tuesday morning for some exhaust repair. It was hanging down to the ground beneath my car. I also needed an oil change. Westside was generous enough to offer a shuttle for me to get to work on time. I was expecting to get a call with a quote of 100-300 to repair (180 was my quote from another shop). Instead, only a couple hours later, I got a call explaining that they didnt need to buy any parts, but rather just had to adjust the exhaust and weld the quarter-sized-hole shut. On top of that, since it was a quick and easy fix for them and it didnt require any new parts, they didnt even charge me for it. I was only charged for the oil change. Amazing! On top of that, they offered to pick me back up at work and shuttle me back to get the car while I was on lunch. I still cant even believe it. Ill be going back to the Westside Garage for all repairs in the future. The West side really is the best side!

Comment: Just moved to the westside and saw all the positive reviews so I thought I would try them out. They were responsive and got me in immediately because I said I really needed my brakes done. We found out that it was a little more than that. They gave me a price and I called around to get some additional quotes. They werent the lowest, but Tommy worked with me and was super reasonable as far as coming down to a competitive rate. They seem very trustworthy and they ended up coming in lower than what he expected. They even got my car done faster than they initially said. I drove my car this week before writing this review to make sure that my squealing noise would stay away. It did. Comment: My car broke down during a storm at 6am. I called Westside Garage for a tow. Due to spring break, the shop was short on tow-drivers, but the owner Dave offered me another option through one of his trusted peers. They have both gone above and beyond so far, from picking up my key, and staying in contact throughout the day. I can tell they are spending time running my diagnostics...which are $FREE.99 by the way(first time customer deal I believe). Basically, my car hasnt even been diagnosed yet, but I felt compelled to share my positive experience so far. Usually repair shops talk down to me or try to swindle me because I am friendly..I can already tell this shop bases its success on the on each individual client. Car trouble throws a wrench into daily life, but just having people who actually care about your situation is so helpful. I will definitely add another review after I have my car back..pretty bored on my day off without my wheels, but hopefully this initial review is helpful to someone!Update: Car was not worth repairing, and I knew that was a possibility, I have poured 2500 into a junker the last year. The fact that Dave truly empathized with me about my situation of wasting money on this car a bit more tolerable :p. He didnt charge me for nearly 2 days of diagnostics(they really tried to find a way to salvage the vehicle). He sent me emails of pics of the damage they found, called me plenty, and even chatted with me about this unfortunate situation for nearly 15 minutes, simply to let me vent and to offer me some solutions with scrapping my car. Just a great shop all around, I will be bringing my next vehicle in for their service absolutely. Tommy not only took the proper steps in diagnosing my car to find the actual problem, but actually called me day by day to give me updates on the progress. I have always owned used vehicles and with that, dealing with repair shops has always been part of my owning a car experience. My personal knowledge of vehicles mechanically is limited at best, but the guys at westside garage have always been more than helpful and willing to take the time and explain what needs to be repaired or replaced and always honest when it comes to things that dont need to be replaced so instead of just throwing money at problems they have the experience and tools to diagnosis an issue before giving a recommendation. My favorite part is that you can bring your car in and pay for them to check out a problem and diagnost it before you pull the trigger on the full repair and even better they deduct the cost of diagnosis from the repair bill so if you have them do the repairs the diagnosis is FREE! Which was huge for me. I was new to Grand Rapids in the beginning of the year and when my truck started acting up on me I turned to Google and asked around what shop is reputable and worth taking my prized possession to for repairs. I read countless reviews and called dozens of repair shops looking for the best place to take my truck. After calling westside and talking to Tommy for the first time, after talking to many other shops I had a good feeling this would be the one to go with. I then read every single review I could find about this place and asked around, and only heard/read good things. And knew this would be the place Id trust bringing my truck to. After many calls and dropping my truck off for a day to be diagnosed I was 1000% sure I had chosen the right place. Tommy took the time to go over everything step by step and explain in detail what needed to be done and why. And while they had my truck for the repairs he even took the time to take a picture and text it to me of one of the new parts I was upgrading to. Not only were the repairs reasonably priced but I also felt comfortable leaving my vehicle there in their care. As soon as you walk into the office you are greeted with a friendly smile by any one of the many people working there and feel the friendly and organized work environment. I felt at ease with leaving my investment in their hands and was treated like a friend from the first time I walked in and after spending over a thousand dollars back in April here I am again with another costly repair and didnt have to think twice about where to go. Even though it had been months(5) since I had been there, after a few moments of talking to Tommy on the phone he remembered who I was and my vehicle and took the time to talk to me about all the details of my current repair and this time even worked me into the schedule to be able to use a FREE loaner car while mine was at their shop. I have actually moved since I had my original repairs done in April and live almost 30 minutes away now (instead of down the street from them) and still knew this is the only place I would trust getting more work done. They didnt say anything bad about it, but stuff keeps going wrong with it and I wouldnt take it any where else! Comment: I had a radiator replaced because my car was overheating, and my wheel bearings because the tires sounded like they were falling off.... both the problems were solved and at what I felt was reasonable prices, although most of the work was covered by my warranty. Only reason Im giving 4 stars instead of 5 was because they dragged their feet about working with the warranty company the first time I went in and charged me the full amount of the work (around $500) even though I let them know to look and see if anything was covered under the warranty, but they did make it right and get a hold of the warranty the second time I went in and got me a refund for part of the first visit, and made sure just about all the work they did on my second visit was covered.

Comment: Dave, the owner personally helped me through a terrible experience of a car breaking down. He told me when my car was not worth the money to fix it and was extremely helpful, honest and communicative. I have had work on other cars done here and it has always been worth the money and a courteous experience. Their customer service made the headache of car repair a little less awful. Comment: I took my car to Westside Garage for some repairs after my boyfriend had a couple of good experiences there too. I was long overdue for some maintenance & I was not disappointed with my experience. Tommy and Dave were beyond polite and went out of their way to discuss the repairs with me, even offering to prioritize the repairs so I didnt have to deal with a large bill all at once. They allowed me to use a loaner car while they had my car. Now that I have my car back, I have been nothing but satisfied with my repairs.While my car was there, I recommended a friend to go into Westside for a new car inspection that they needed. For recommending someone, Westside gave me a discount on my repairs and did the new car inspection for far less than any quote my friend had received anywhere else.These guys are great and they do superior work. Comment: I have taken my vehicle to Westside Garage a total of 3 times in the past 3 months. I have received nothing short of fantastic customer service, quality work, and reasonable prices! I couldnt recommend this place more to anyone needing automotive work done on their car/truck.The first time took my car in, I had recently bought it used and was curious if my timing belt needed to be replaced (it was close to the mileage and the previous owner wasnt sure if it had been done). Rather than simply pretending to look at it and recommend I get it replaced, the owner Dave and one of the folks at the shop told me that it looked fine and to just come get it checked out again next year.I knew at this point that this place was not like any other mechanic.The second time I took my car in was after I had been to another location that quoted me about 1.7k for work they werent even sure needed to be done. I took my car down to Westside and the folks there looked it it a knew exactly what needed to be done. they replaced my rear calipers, brake pads, and rotors for an incredibly reasonable price and quality installation.The third time I took my car in I got all of my struts replaced and an alignment done for an even more incredible price than the last time I was there. I cannot recommend Westside Garage enough for their impeccable attention to quality and customer service. They even told me that if I felt the alignment wasnt 100% correct I could take it in for a quick adjustment, free of charge!Rest assured that the folks at Westside arent your stereotypical mechanics just trying to score a quick buck. The genuinely care about their customers.

Comment: I diagnosed a potential problem with my vehicle at 5:30pm today. My tail light fuses have been burning up and I didnt know why. I put in a new fuse and walked to the trunk area of my car and saw smoke streaming from the rear electronics. I drove my car down to Westside Garage and talked with Tommy. He came out right away and located the problem. A wire harness was shorting out due to water damage. Tommy helped me terminate the issue and discussed some permanent solutions. By 5:45pm, I was able to drive away (free of charge) finally knowing what my issue was and felt confident in the solutions provided. I have always had a great experience - which is why Ill continue giving Westside all of my business! Thanks again Tommy!

Comment: I was in Grand Rapids for the week, and when ready to leave on Saturday 2-22-14 at 2pm, my F150 would not start. Because of the weather, tow trucks were an 8 hour wait. I found Westside on my phone. Best phone call I ever made. I spoke with Tommy and he understood my problem but his tow truck was out for most of the day also. Tommy helped me troubleshoot the problem with about 4 phone calls, understanding that if he got started he would lose the business because I would have went back to the east side because he couldnt work on it until Monday. I ended up with the help of the Grand downtown towing it to Westside and Tommy still tried to get it started before I left. I picked the truck up Monday afternoon. These guys went beyond the call of duty to make my day and the experience as painless as possible. They are fair and reasonable. I will travel across the state when my oil change is due!!! I would trust them completely with all components of auto repair. I will bring all of my vehicles to Westside ONLY! Last year I purchased a car from a local dealership and really got taken. I started having issues with the car within a week of my purchase. I called and spoke to the sales manager and he basically told me they would do nothing about it, I was devastated! Comment: This was honestly the best experience Ive ever had with a mechanic in my long, frustrating line of experiences. My car died in a G.R. parking ramp. I found Westside on Google with good reviews, and called them up. They had a fairly long list of tows ahead of me, but when they found out I was waiting with my car, they sent someone out personally right away. About 10-15 minutes later, Westside showed up, just as they promised. The guy who was sent was Tommy, who was courteous, knowledgeable, and friendly. A tow truck wouldnt fit down in the ramp, so he offered to try and get my car out, and after that didnt work, he made arrangements to ensure the truck would be out of the ramp, to the shop, and diagnosed by morning (it was already late afternoon). As promised, I received a call in the morning. Unfortunately, my car had too much damage to be worth the money to save, so I decided to scrap it. They were very flexible on allowing me to keep my vehicle at their shop until I was able to get the title to them, and upon my arrival, Tommy got my plate off for me, and I met Dave as well, who was equally as awesome. I would ABSOLUTELY recommend WESTSIDE GARAGE!!!! I havent had the pleasure of dealing with them on the mechanic side of things, but my towing experience was beyond reproach. I live far away, but I would make the drive to bring my vehicle to these guys. Great prices on oil changes, and Dave even offered free loaner vehicles for while theyre working on your car. Our car wouldnt start and Dave was able to tow us for FREE in a matter of 20 minutes, crazy. Figured out what the problem was and with a prompt call informed us we needed a new gas distributor. I drive all the way from Muskegon for every oil change, and any other auto needs. It’s well worth the drive because of the quality service I receive every time I stop by. You won’t find a better auto service anywhere! Dave and his team are the best, and the ONLY mechanics that my family and I trust with our cars. I have always had a great experience when bringing my car to Westside Garage, they take VERY good care of me by calling with updates on my car throughout the day, and by diagnosing my car correctly the first time. After getting my car back from them later in the day it always runs like new. The service has always been quick, and they have always offered me a demo car to drive in the meantime, so I can go about my day while they work on my car. The demo cars have always been nice, clean, and run well. They even try to search and find the best deals/discounts they can for my family and I when looking for parts they need. Those are rare qualities in auto garages, and this is the reason my family and I have trusted Dave with our cars for 20+ years now. Westside Garage truly cares about their customers, and has always been honest and trustworthy. When I was 16 I got a car, but before I was allowed to drive it my parents sent it to Dave to have him look it over and make sure that what the dealer was telling us about the car was actually true. Dave and his team looked it over and told my parents that they found a nice quality car, and that it was in great condition, and safe to drive. A few years later when that car was in an accident during college, Dave took care of me by driving all the way to Muskegon, where the accident happened, on the same day of the accident, to tow the car back to Grand Rapids and assess the damages for me. The car was totaled, but Dave helped me look for a new car, and I ended up finding the car I have now! Over the years my parents have recommended some friends and family to go to Westside Garage when they have an auto issue. He got his driver to pick it up right away and they fixed the problems the very next day. He cut us a great deal on the parts and labor and had us back on the road. They called the next day to say that the replacement part my car needed would be around $280, but they had found the part for $71 at a junk yard. Saving me hundreds of dollars, their commitment to customer service is the best Ive seen in GR.

Comment: My first visit to Westside Garage was for an oil change, when I returned my car had also been washed. I could not believe it all for $12.95 the owner (Dave) told me since I had left my car they also did a complimentary car wash for me, I knew at that point I would return for oil changes, and any other work my car would need in the future. A couple weeks ago my transmission was acting up, so I called to schedule an appointment the owner (Dave) once again was GREAT! he asked if I would need a loaner car, again what GREAT customer service. The loaner car he gave me was nicer than my own car, but here is the best part about Westside Garage. I managed to lock the keys in the car with my purse, and cell phone that had all my contact numbers I was completely lost with out it, and needed to go to work, instantly I was in a panic. Had to go old school and Look up the number to Westside Garage to tell Dave what I did, and with in a 1/2 hour he sent one of his Techs out to unlock the car for me in the pouring rain. It came as a recommendation from someone from work, and the only issue I had was that a part on my door was put back on my car wrong. So I had to take it back for it to be fixed. However, it was a quick easy fix for them. It just would have been nice not to have had to make a second trip to fix. Other than that, I felt that they did a very good job at a fair price. Dave and his mechanics are the most professional, trustworthy and knowledgeable mechanics I have ever encountered and his prices are unbeatable. I initially brought my car in to have the air conditioning checked and was informed by Dave that my previous mechanic had made an error when repairing my car. Dave repaired it, wrote a detailed description of the problem and encouraged me to take the repair bill to my previous mechanic; I did and was reimbursed for the work. Comment: Had a grinding/whining noise in the front end that another garage could not hear. Dave was able to detect the noise and isolate it to the power steering pump. We were very pleased with his honesty and diligence in isolating and confirming the source of the problem. He will have our future business!

Comment: I was leaving work this past Friday at 4:30 and my timing belt went out. Probably the worst time ever. Dave was able to help me out, assist in getting a tow, and get my car in ASAP. I was referred to Westside from a friend and am very glad he did. He was able to turn around the repair in one day as promised. I will definately be going back to Westside for all future business and will refer everyone I know there. Thanks Westside.

Comment: This was our first time into this shop we live right around the corner. We had ALOT of issues with our truck and a limited budget. DAVE AND HIS CREW DID A VERY GREAT JOB FIXING OUR TRUCK AND STAYING IN OUR FINANCIAL NEEDS I WILL BRING OUR VEHICLES BACK!!!!!! Comment: An example of a auto repair shop going above and beyond. I called Westside Garage today at 11:00 am with an electrical problem. Dave told me I could drop the Jeep off and they would look at. I dropped it off at noon and asked him to fix it as I could not operate the power locks, interior lights or windows. Half of the electrical wires running through the door were broken. At 3:00 pm he called me, the Jeep was fixed! They made room in their schedule for me even though they were slammed and I didnt have an appointment. Ive been a customer for over 10 years and I knew they would take care of me. What other repair shop will help you on a moments notice?........NONE. All of these guys know what their doing and I wont take my vehicles anywhere else to get repaired, period!

Comment: I brought my truck to Westside for the first time last week and it was a great experience. I needed a place to install my suspension lift I bought for my truck and so I gave Dave a call. Within a matter of a few days we had set up a time and he completed the job in no time for an extremely fair price. I will definetely bring my vehicles back there again. Dave is great to deal with and I will reccomend him to anyone!

Comment: The owner Dave Parm is one of the most trusted mechanics not only on the westside but all over. Every one I know goes to him for there work because he is trustworthy and honest. Dave has some of the most talented mechanics working for him. They are honest when they diagonus your car and give you an afforadle price on what is wrong. Westside Garage is the only place I will take my car too. If you ever break down they do free towing with service being done :) Dave has saved me a couple of times. I will recommend him to every one I know that needs work done to there car. Westside Garage is amazing :) There service is amazing. My truck runs like it is brand new ever sence i toke it to Dave. The people who fixed it before put my spark plugs on wrong and blew my catalytic converters. Dave diagnosed it and told me in less the 30 minutes what was wrong with and a estimiate on the price now my truck runs better then it use too :)

Comment: Owner Dave Parm is a trusted mechanic that does excellent work at affordable prices. Hes been my car guy for years and hes built a level of trust that you cant find everywhere. Excellent mechanic too. Fixed a problem with the catalytic converter and made my car drive like new, when I was thinking it was the transmission and was thinking I would need to replace it soon. I wouldnt hesitate to recommend Dave and Westside Garage to anyone, and over the years I have. Dave and his crew will diagnose the problem, and give you a straight answer on the solution. If you are looking for a second opinion on car repairs, give them a try. They may become your first opinion.Westside Garage is located on the corner of 7th St & Stocking. Comment: Westside Garage is the only place Ive taken my cars for over 5 years. Dave is the best and has saved me thousands over the years giving me accurate diagnoses, avoiding pricey repairs that other shops default to recommending. Honest, fair, fast and affordable. My cars have always been well maintained with the best parts, and I know i can stop by for a fair and honest analysis of any car issue im having. Ive also taken cars i was thinking about purchasing here for a nice once-over and avoided buying cars that would have needed a lot of work.5 star business, the only place in Grand Rapids Id take my auto. Very clean and sharp looking lot and shop as well. Well taken care of, my car is cleaner when i get it back from something as simple as an oil change, than when i dropped it off!
