Comment: My tailpipe dropped and was dragging on the street while driving on 9 Mile Rd at 5pm so I did a quick map search to find muffler shops in the area. Western Auto Service stood out so I called. Taylor answered the phone promptly, asked make and model and the shop owner Fred if he could take a “walk-in.” She came back to the phone with “yes” and I was happy for the moment. The shop had a few vehicles in front of me but despite the backlog, I was out of there by 6:15pm for only $225.00. Extremely pleased with the service I received at Western Auto!

Comment: Took my Chevy Trax in on a Monday for brakes and a tune up. Got it back on Tuesday morning. Quick turn around and a fair price. Didn’t try to up charge or do anything unnecessary. I had to take it back the next day because my check engine light came on and I panicked. They hooked it up to diagnostic for no charge. Ended up being completely unrelated. I came in to get new breaks and rotors , when the owner Fred noticed that I had also had some fluid leaking from my car due to a recent accident. Turns out i’d Damaged my radiator from a prior accident. Brett and his son Immediately Hoisted my car up and got to work ! They’d sent out for parts , given me a ride home , and repaired everything all within the SAME DAY! Comment: Eddie is the best! Freddy was great also! Very personable, as well as welcoming. I have a 2012 Chevy equinox, and Eddie figured out what my check engine light issue was! Even when multiple mechanics worked on it! I called after noon and he had it in the air and scanned same day. He Ordered a replacement secondary air injection pump same day and it arrived within a day, repaired on my time convenience. He called as soon as the part arrived and while I was there in the office! Prices are way cheaper then most mechanic shops. Just repaired today from a co worker referral, no check engine light back on as of yet.Eddie is very knowledgeable and answered all of my reasonable and unreasonable questions lol. He even showed me what was wrong with my car and checked another mechanics work to make sure it was done correctly. Every complaint I had Eddie took care of. Amazing! Eddie definitely does great work! Will be back for further repairs for my equinox. He even told me a few common issues with my vehicle that I didnt know about. A1! Didnt treat me like I was dumb either. Thanks again Eddie and Freddy!

He did such an incredible job and he even had the courtesy to double check the work done by the other mechanic. He pointed out that I needed a new power steering line. You need top shelf tools along with educated people who not only know what their doing but also know how to take care of the customer and work with them and even offer payment methods! Ask for Fred! Comment: Short version: the next time anything goes wrong with my car, this is the only place I will ever take it to be fixed. These gentlemen are not only personable, they are honest and know what the heck they’re doing. Do yourself (and your vehicle) a favor by choosing Western Auto to get the job done.Long version: Last summer my car started making a strange noise, a kind of deep scratchy hum. Took it to some shop on the east side recommended by a family member... only to get it back several days later with no noticeable difference. They said they couldn’t hear anything, but of course were able to find a few hundred bucks worth of other things to fix. Drove around a few people in my car to see if they could hear the sound, but apparently my ears were broken because I’m the only one who noticed it. I accepted that I was just being paranoid, decided to ignore the sound, and continued on with my life.Fast forward to a few weeks ago: a brand new troubling sound began to emit from somewhere beneath my car. After saving up some cash to get it looked at, I decided to give Western Auto Service a shot. Only had to wait a few minutes in the office before being greeted by a young mechanic named Eddie, who I then explained the new sound to. I asked to go with him on the test drive so I could point it out. He immediately detected the new sound and knew what was causing it. And then, as he’s slowly coasting along with his ear to the open window - eyes slightly squinted, like we all do when trying to hear a quiet sound better - and he says, “Do you hear that? That other sound - a kind of low hum?” I’m pretty sure he explained to me what it was, but I was too busy thanking him for proving that I hadn’t been having auditory hallucinations all this time.We got back to the shop where Eddie put my car on the lift to continue his investigation, and the issues were exactly what he had suspected. He let me know that the part needed to fix the low hum would be harder to locate for my particular vehicle, but he could have the other issue causing the new sound fixed by later that evening. After I agreed to the price estimate for letting him proceed with the repair, he got right on the phone to hunt down the proper replacement parts and I was on my way.I didn’t hear back later that night, but I was hoping this meant there was a development in fixing the old sound. Got a call the following morning (today). Eddie said he fixed new sound and I could come pick up the car, but the replacement part needed to fix the old sound did arrive. He didn’t want to begin that repair since it wasn’t included in his initial estimate, as he wasn’t sure when the part would come in. He explained that it wasn’t pertinent to do the additional repair today, but it would need to be done eventually. “I’ve still got your car on the lift, so if you wanted me to take care of that today it would cost ($X). I can give you a break on the price since you’ve been so patient. But if you need to wait until you’re able to save up some more money to get that fixed, it’ll be okay to keep driving it for a little while longer.” Fortunately I had saved up enough money to be able to afford getting that other part replaced as well.Within a couple hours, I received a call from Eddie letting me know that both of those sounds were officially gone. He even offered to turn the engine on so the car would be warm by the time I arrived, which was extremely thoughtful - it’s chilly out and I was going to be walking there. When I walked in, I was greeted by another gentleman who turned out to be Eddie’s father - an equally pleasant human being to interact with. While paying for the services, Eddie showed me the mangled up parts he replaced that had been causing such a ruckus, and I am so glad I could let him do all the repairs in one shot. I am happy to announce that all the crunchy sounds are actually silent, and my car is driving so much smoother now!

Comment: I had visit the shop 2 weeks prior to actually getting my car service, a friend referred me. I spoke with Eddy and had plan to drop my car off that following Monday. Things happened and I wasnt able to get it there. Finally was able to drop it off, work right down the street. I got a call about 2 hours from him explaining what was wrong and can he fix it, he told me yes I can have it ready by the end of your work day. I was like whats the damage $$, he told me, I had a conversation with a male friend and he said that was cool, he repaired my car and I was on my way at 5pm. Its been a few weeks and still riding smooth and there is a year warranty.

I found these guys with reviews and decided to give them a try.I always research how much things cost before I go in and try to self diagnose the problem so I know what Im talking about and how much I can expect to pay.
