Comment: I was surprisingly able to get in the same day as I called. They guys got my car hoisted up and were able to show me the issue with my exhaust. Instead of trying to tell me I needed an entire new exhaust system, they were able to fix the area that was the issue and got me out the door for just over $100. They were respectful and very pleasant from my initial phone call to when I walked out the door with my car fixed.

I initially brought my 2012 Acadia there for an exhaust repair and found out they are not just the ole 1970 muffler shop anymore. They are now my go-to service shop for all maintenance! I plan on bringing my Dads 2003 Terrain there for some TLC.

Comment: While traveling to the eastside of the State of Michigan, our car broke-down on I-94 at 10:30pm on a Friday evening. We had it towed to Tuffy in Portage. They called me to let me know they received and would have a mechanic check it out Monday morning. I received a call from them that Monday with a diagnosis on our car. With the car being 15 years old with 175,000 miles, we made the decision to donate it to charity. They allowed us to keep the car in their parking lot at no charge for 5 days until it was picked-up. They also verified with us when the towing company arrived. I wish they were located closer to where we live.

Comment: Wow! I called thinking I would just need to patch up a leak on my tire. To my surprise when I got the the Tuffy location in Portage MI, my tire was completely shredded! Justin W asked if I had a spare (I did not). Then I called to get a spare tire I had at home in Gobles MI to be brought to us. But Justin looked in the pile of old tires and found one that would get me home safely so I could get my other tire on! The kindness and professionalism Justin W and his coworker showed me, made me feel so much better than when I arrived. I will be going back to this location for all my vehicle needs.

Comment: I needed to have my car brakes checked/replaced if necessary, made an appointment for 9 a.m. Staff was pleasant and let me know along the way how the front and rear brakes were. The front pads, rotors, calipers were all replaced by noon even though parts delivery took over an hour due to staff shortages at the auto parts store.As for price, I was warned by friends that brake jobs are way more expensive these days, so I was prepared. But I was charged only about $100 over what I paid over 5 years ago on another car, a happy surprise.I will definitely return there for my service needs in the future.

On top of that the mechanic that worked on my suv his name was Shawn! I can’t say enough how straightforward and honest he was about the work that needed to be done. Brooke and the techs were open and honest about what they could do that same day and were able to do a coolant diagnostic right away. After adding coolant, they were unable to find a leak and sent me on my way without pushing any unnecessary work.I subtracted one star because the coolant diagnostic was $50, while the Sears auto center around the corner quoted $30. If you have the time and want to scrimp, it might be worth it to check around.I was just glad to be able to get back home to Chicago that day.

I have been to, I swear, almost every repair shop in Kalamazoo and Portage because I have had all sorts of issues with my car.I have been scammed, lied to, etc, in the past by places and told I needed hundreds even thousands of dollars in repairs I did not truly need.Tuffys employees were honest, quick, and polite. Not only did they explain everything to me in detail, they also brought me into the repair shop while my car was hitched up and showed me the issues and what needed to be fixed. Comment: After purchasing a battery from AutoZone, it was tested and AutoZone told me that my alternator wasnt working and I needed to get it fixed. I came to Tuffy and they ran a diagnostics test before jumping right into repairs and found that there wasnt anything wrong with my alternator. Comment: Tuffy was recommended to me by a colleague at work when I moved to Kalamaozo two years ago. Since then, I have taken our Volvos to Tuffy and have been satisfied with the service provided by both the Kalamazoo and the Portage location (owned by the same person).A recent example of their good customer service was when they looked at a leak we were having in one of our cars. It had been 6-8 months since they had replaced the rack-and-pinion on the car (a big expense for any vehicle, but we liked the vehicle and wanted to keep it), and they looked at the car to see where was the leak. They spent time diagnosing where the fluids could be coming from. Even though the leak looked like it was coming from the transmission (they had us also have a transmission shop look at it confirm that the transmission was in good order), it was finally determined that there was a lose fitting on a tube from the rack. Even though it had been some time since they installed the new rack, they made sure the leak was fixed and did so without any charge. I appreciated the extra time and attention they provided to ensure the leak was fixed (they looked at the vehicle serval times a week latter just to make sure the leak was solved). Thanks.

I walked in not knowing what to expect (being a relatively new car owner), but I was impressed with their prompt, courteous service. They made an appointment for me that worked around my conference that I was in town for. Upon arrival, it took 40 minutes for them to take my car into the shop. However, once they took it in, they did a thorough check and provided an honest evaluation of which issues were urgent and which could wait. They stayed open almost an hour past closing time on a Friday afternoon to finish my car so I could go home that night. I would highly recommend their services in the Kalamazoo area!

Comment: I live near Detroit and my sons a student at WMU. My sons Jeep lost brake pressure late in the afternoon. A front brake hose had a slice in it and wasnt holding fluid. We knew we needed a hose for sure. He brought it to Tuffy in Kalamazoo. Chris did a complete inspection, and told me what needs work, what should be done, and what needs to be done soon, and what needs to be done ASAP to make the car safe.
