Comment: I was very impressed with the respect shown to me by everyone I was in contact with in shop and on the phone. They communicated with me about all my cars needs and patiently explained things as I had questions, and let me decide what I wanted fixed based on their professional experience of what was a matter of safety and what could wait for a later date. I opted to have most of the work done because of their professionalism and the cost being reasonable. I was even offered a loaner car, but I didn’t think I would need it, so the owner offered to give me a ride to my folks house instead. A company full of kind, competent people, who I will be using again in the future! It’s nice to find people and companies with integrity!

Comment: If you’re unfortunate enough to have your car breakdown while you’re out of town, let’s hope you’re fortunate enough to be close to these guys! They were a mile from my hotel and while I worked all week on business, they worked on my van. Great communication with texts to approve items on a repair, a final price less than estimated, and they even picked me up and brought me back to my hotel while the van was in the shop. Super nice and helpful place. You can tell they take pride in their work and even found some things that needed to be repaired that otherwise would have gone unnoticed. If I didn’t live so far away, they’d be my go-to for all further automotive repairs! Lansing locals take note! Thanks again!!

Comment: I needed an oil change in my 2012 Ford F150. They got me in and out and rotated the tires for free and also did a free inspection. Great service and very friendly and professional. Then I had a problem where the truck overheated and the check engine light came on. I dropped the truck off before they opened and filled out the form and put the key in the envelope and went to work. About 10 AM I received a call telling me it was the water pump and they gave me and estimate to fix it. They texted me at about 3 PM telling me that it was fixed and ready for pick up. ARE YOU KIDDING ME! What excellent service and fast! If you want an honest, hard working, professional and great communicating auto shop, Town & Country - Modern Mechanics is the place.

Comment: Hey Jeremy,Yeah that re-bleed the second time solved the pedal issue. Its back to feeling the way it has felt for the past 6 years that Ive driven it again.Steering was good to go from the start. No complaints on those repairs, and I appreciate you guys making sure I got taken care of. Your overall pricing was on par with the industry.My only real gripe was the communication on the battery terminal cleaning. I wasnt requesting a battery test, just corrosion removal. I think you guys over-charge for battery testing at $34.44 by the way had that actually been what I wanted. The way I remember it from shops Ive worked in, all I had to do is connect a tool to the terminals and push a button. Is that no longer the way theyre tested? $34 is just high for that.The other gentleman, when I asked how much the charge would have been to clean the corrosion off instead of doing a battery test he said a half hour of labor. Theres no way thats true, right? At $115/hr (totally reasonable labor rate) that would be $57.50 to wire brush the excess material, spray on battery terminal cleaner, rinse, and then spin a terminal cleaning brush over it a few twists. Ive done it before. It takes 10 minutes and thats if youre being quite thorough. Some businesses would do that as a complimentary service along side a $1,900 job.So yeah. I would recommend reevaluating some of the ways your simpler services prices are calculated. Perhaps its intentional because one big job is better for the business than 10 small ones and you want to deter a high number of small jobs from coming in an taking up time and space. Thats just speculation trying to see things from your point of view.My father ran a repair shop for almost 50 years and he would always say something to the effect of he hated doing oil changes because it wasnt profitable, but thats how he got new customers who eventually would come in and replace an engine with him.Anyway, thats my honest feedback. I would definitely recommend your service for major repairs, but those charges for some of the things Im familiar with as 5-10 minute jobs makes me feel the need to exercise caution about what services I would request in the future if Im being completely honest. I understand its a business and its not easy work, but the time allotted to the labor on smaller jobs should be true to the time to get the work done, and I dont mean that on EVERYTHING. I understand that book can say its a 10 hour job but a mechanic with 30 years of experience can do it in 7. Then charging 10 hours is fine even though it takes 7. Thats pay for the skill and knowledge. Im only talking about where its clearly a 10 minute job even for a green technician, but 30 minutes are being charged.Thanks again!Ryan

Comment: Well there are pros and cons to the place.I have to say that they are very sociable, and when I called they accepted my car easily and promptly.Their prices compared to other places are reasonable and they even agreed to give me a discount after I told them that I am an student.But, the problem is the problem for which I took my car to them is not fixed. It is even worse than before!!!I am going to call them later and will update this review too but still it is frustrating that after a $1500 fix, my car has the same problem as before.Update: They called me to check up on my car and I told them about the problem, they immediately took action and asked me to take my car back to fix it. It seemed it just needed more lubrication as they claimed. Till this point I was convinced to bump their ratings up to 4 stars. But, as I was about to leave, they told me if after a week, I still felt that something was wrong, I could bring the car back and they would be willing to check the car and change the parts again. That sentence alone won me over. So yes, 5 stars. Thanks, and I will be a definite customer from now on.

Many people probably know all to well this industry has some people that prey on the uninformed or not mechanically inclined. Twice I have brought over quotes from other shops (where I bought tires and they rotate free or obviously I would have just went directly to Town and Country). Recently one quote said the battery needed to be replaced and after John checked it he had said it still had 85% life and did not need replacement. I sincerely appreciate the quality work, timely service, and them not replacing things just to add to the repair ticket cost. A family member recommended I take my vehicle there and I am thankful they did. I want to provide my recommendation to anyone that reads this.

Comment: I had a situation with my car where it wouldnt start, but had a fully charged battery. I made an appointment pretty quickly with this business. I needed it fixed fast but also needed it fixed correctly. I could have went to one of the chain style stores, but with those places you are opening a box of cracker jacks. Sometimes youd get a good box, other times itd be full of those cracker jacks that are hard as rocks and break your teeth. I chose town and country because of its high reviews. The bill turned out to be a bit higher than what I was able to afford for all of the repairs that were needed. They worked with me to get the most important things done, and then also to my surprise, fixed a broken battery terminal that I didnt think was going to be fixed! : ) I was pleased with the work and with the speed of the work. Also, one thing I thought was great and Ive not seen before; They were able to send me my invoice securely through my phone, and I was able (not required) to pay it online! I loved this feature, because it took away that awkward reading the card over the phone, maybe they hear you right maybe they dont. Maybe they repeat the numbers back when your not expecting it and you talk over each other. These may be silly things, but they are now a thing of the past!.. I want to see this in flower shops, call and place your order over the phone pizza shops and other food shops! Way to embrace the technology! Ill probably go here again when I have another similar situation.

I understand electrical issues are notoriously difficult to diagnose, Town & Country did everything from physical hands on checking to researching the issue online, got the part I needed from Grand Rapids and had everything up and running before lunch. I had dropped it off at business opening.They are professional, knowledgeable, and above all friendly. Make some engine noises and they will help you figure out the problem. They can even send you very specific info via email or your smart phone with pictures and recommended fixes. Ive come here for other issues and have always been impressed with their diligence and promptness.

My fuel injectors needed to be cleaned which I never would have guessed, and I could tell pulling out of the shop that my car was running better. Don’t waste your time or money at the big name shops trying to make a buck off of you. This is the best shop in Lansing, your car will be taken care of and they don’t try to push ridiculous things on you, and zero pressure when they recommend a service that you want to wait on to have done. Comment: They towed my vehicle for me from my apartment very last minute. I was having electrical issues with my car and I was sure something expensive was going to be needed. I got a quote from Handz On imports of $400 just to diagnose my Subaru. Town and Country only charged me $94 and fixed the issue for around $20 and I had my car back the same day. If you have a foreign car, don’t be fooled into thinking only foreign shops can work on it. They over charge for everything. Town and country has made me a very happy customer!

The air was charged and I realized the next day that it wasnt working. When my mom called them, I was expecting this to be a huge headache. Instead, they were very apologetic, wanted to fix it but having my mom take my car again wasnt feasible so they readily agreed to refund that part of the bill. Amazing! No hassle.
