The counter person was very kind and sympathetic to my problem and promised to have it diagnosed as soon as possible. Within a couple of hours he called me and said the car would be ready the next day. The following day it was finished as promised and a detailed text was sent to me outlining an entire inspection of my vehicle with pictures of potential issues I might have with the car. The cost of my repairs was very fair, and I recommend Detroit Garage for any repairs anyone might need. Thank you to all the staff at Detroit Garage for your fairness and hard work!

Comment: We have a 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee. My wife is very in tune with the sounds and feel of the vehicle. She was telling me about how the vehicle was making sounds and it just did not feel right in the front end. Brought it to the Detroit Garage. They were able to identify 3 different problems that I thought were the issues. The vehicle has 100k miles and was ready for everything they suggested. Biggest concern was the ball joints that were bad on the left side. I saw all the old parts and was reassured that they needed replacement. The brakes are fantastic and ride with new shocks is beautiful. The wife is really happy. Great job Detroit Garage. I will always be your customer.

Comment: Little back story first; Im a car guy, but I like driving them.... Im too neurotic to work on them. I see what mechanics do and yeah... I suppose if I had a whole week, I could do the job that just took them an hour. I also recently moved away from all my formerly local mechanics.I have been using Kennys for my alignments and oil changes on my Corvette based on multiple high recommendations from other enthusiasts in the area.I had just finished up Solo Nationals in Lincoln, Nebraska and upon leaving the event, I felt the car go into ice mode (which it seldom does). Further driving would confirm what I already had a feeling was the issue.... the dreaded brake booster failure. Not my first rodeo with this, and sure enough, my 06 uses the same booster from the C5, which was a previous car of mine.I called Kennys from Nebraska... these guys are busy so it helps to call a week in advance. They took me in and confirmed the failure on Wednesday.... I have an event on Sunday, but Im told Best part availability is two weeks out.... unfortunately makes sense... so many parts for these cars are discontinued now.After some discussion, Kennys allowed me to look for a quicker source of parts.... their werent many.... I had a booster overnighted in and I was at the shop at 8am on Thursday. They said theyd get to work right away..... 1 or 2 pm rolls around Car is doneIf youve changed a brake booster on a Corvette, then you already know this can be a bit of a pain... especially the first time since the assembly clips are in place from the factory. Kennys not only had this done super quick, but the price was ultra fair for this work.... seriously not an easy (or fun) job by any stretch and I was fully prepared to be charged more than I was based on that.Im not surprised if these guys are tired of seeing me by now, as Ive been there every other week, but theyve done great work and certainly earned my return business time and again.5 STARS only because Google doesnt have 10.

They do not try to upsell, only make recommendations based on the mileage and ages of your vehicles. The employees are friendly and easy to work with and, frankly, it is one of the few places you can call and actually always speak to someone!They have an easy drop box for keys, with an envelope to list what you need looked at, your call back number and car details. Comment: My 2006 Chrysler mini van broke down on a Saturday and I randomly chose this place bcz it was close. I called on the Monday after the Super Bowl, expecting less than stellar service, but was pleasantly surprised when Mike Lewis answered. I explained that the van had died while driving and he was very upfront about when he thought the car could be looked at, stating that it could be a few days, he made sure I understood what to expect before he sent over the inspection agreement. Later on THAT SAME DAY, he called and went over their findings and sent pictures of other parts that were safety issues. He went over everything that he thought was necessary and some things that I could hold off on. Mike made me feel comfortable and took the time to explain all the details. As a woman (and one who doesn’t really understand car repairs and jargon) I have often felt unsure of what is really a necessary repair, what is the up sell, what should I do? I did not feel that way AT ALL. After texting over the quote, I sent it to some male family members (car guys) and they agreed it was honest and a fair deal. To top it all off it was READY THE SAME DAY. I am elated to find a shop that I trust and highly recommend you call them next time you need work done.

Comment: This was my first time taking my vehicles to Kennys, as we just moved here recently. Both vehicles needed oil changes and a few other things (tires, sensors, etc) after driving across the country. Kennys came recommended to me from a family member, and I have been very impressed! The communication is top notch -- they will very clearly tell you exactly what work needs to be performed, and how much the cost (parts and labor) will be. Both parties (owner, shop) sign and agree to this work/cost prior to anything being done so that there are no misappropriations afterwards. They performed the work they said they would in a very timely fashion, I had both cars back in just a few days. On top of that, they were very knowledgable about my vehicles recommended work schedules, and worked with me on what was needed after hearing what work had already been performed. I am very picky about who works on my vehicles, preferring to do most of the work myself. Its very good to have a trusted shop tho, if I just cant find the time or am stuck on something. Based on what Ive seen, I would absolutely trust Kennys to work on my vehicles again.

Comment: Kenny’s auto is not the easiest or most convenient place for me to get to. I have to get to and on 275, then go up M5, all through Walled Lake, etc. It takes me a good 25-30 minutes to get there, and I pass a lot of other mechanics on my way in. Not convenient at all.You know what’s far less convenient? Having your car not function properly because it hasn’t been maintained or repaired correctly. Having to pay thousands of dollars to dishonest mechanics who do more work than is needed, or replace unnecessary parts and perform unneeded maintenance or service. Having to deal with delays and excuses from lesser shops as to why your vehicle isn’t fixed after the work they did. I say all this from personal experience.I drive all the way to see Kenny, Mike, and Bill because they’re honest, reliable, and they know what they’re doing. I can trust them with my cars which I am extremely picky about. Kenny’s is the ONLY place I will take my Corvette to. They used to have pretty good popcorn too.So while I generally won’t spend a half hour in the car driving to get an oil change, I do it without hesitation when something else is needed because I know it will be done correctly and the peace of mind alone that comes from that is worth the trip.

Comment: I had my car towed to Kennys because it wouldnt start. Although I hadnt used them before, my mom has and was always happy with the service. When I called in about it ahead of time, they let me know they wouldnt be able to look at it for a week or so (I appreciated them telling me that ahead of time) and how much it cost to diagnose a non-starting car. They texted me exactly a week later to let me know it started just fine for them, but when they put it on the lift they saw part of my subframe had rusted and broken completely in half. He let me know it was not safe to drive. They did not even mention fixing it (Im sure because realistically it wouldnt be worth it being an older car and all), and didnt charge me to diagnose the non-starting issue since it started just fine for them. I appreciated the honesty so when I get a new car, Ill definitely be seeing them when it needs service.

Comment: Quick turn around and great service on an alignment for my old BMW I just rebuilt the rear suspension on.Recently had another item on a car I couldnt take care of myself. My current Cadillac STS needed a new radiator and AC condenser. After replacing the condenser I needed a shop to charge the AC. Kennys got it in and out quick and the price was about what I expected.I do most of my own work but for those things I cant do I will keep taking them back to Kennys!

I had a very challenging job for them and they enthusiastically took that challenging and came through for me on time.Seeing as my race car is old enough to vote, we expected some surprises to come to light once disassembly began, and of course there were some. Not their fault, my care is old and battered. Not only did they find solutions to these issues but they did a great job. As for professionalism, they communicated every step of the way as we approached the job, and when decisions had to be made we communicated through those as well. My wheels are from a special edition track car and very rare and expensive. I normally do morning and balancing myself at a friends office that has z auot lab but they are closed due to COVID. So I was very nervous about letting someone work on these rare expensive wheels. I moment I started checking I at the front counter I k ew I had nothing to worry about. The questions they asked me told me I wax in the right place....are the tire directional?, Any special places the weights need to go to clear the brakes? Do you want us to balance the wheels first and then install the tires?, Any special requests? These types of questions set me right at ease as I knew they had worked with high end wheel and tire setups before and not just moms minivan getting 4 new all seasons that isngoingmto.go 75 down the highway vs my wheels going 150mph down a race track straight away.... So I left And went to grab some lunch and about 45min later I got a text message letting me know my tires were complete, that was pretty cool! We all get texts from the dentist,but you auto shop is even cooler. The tire were perfect and the wheels just as I had dropped them off. VERY happy with the service I received at Kennys. Will be back if I ever need their help again!!

I asked for an oil change ($38) and a brake inspection ($15) which is normally included in the price of a tire rotation but I just bought 4 new tires recently. I was told it would be a few hours so I dropped it off and walked home. I got a text after a few hours with an estimate for front and rear brakes plus a few other recommended services, but I was not pressured to do any of them on the same day. Kennys Lakes Area Auto Experts found the parts I needed at reasonable prices, and their labor rates are also very competitive--often at the low end when you compare the rates online. Comment: Honesty counts. A lot. Im no auto genius by any means, and they could have taken me big-time. I had a noise in the front-end. It could have been the axel. On a 4WD, thats over a grand. It was tracked down to a bad tire, of all things. Their profit on that job was low, but their esteem grew gigantic in my eyes. Next time, I had a cylinder knocking like crazy. Once again, it could have been anything from a piston to the rings to a rod. It turned out to be a coil. Now, replacing the coil wasnt cheap... but it was a fraction of the price of a new rod or piston. Talk to Bill when you go in there. Hes an honest guy. Oh, and by the way -- my vehicles running great.

They may be slightly more expensive than some of the other shops but for me the peace of mind is well worth it because I know the work will be done to the highest standard and that I can trust their recommendations 100%.
