Comment: I was referred to Steve‘s party coworker and I even called a local repair facility where I live and ask them if they worked on TDI’s and they said no and they referred me to Steve’s. They stayed in constant contact with me when working on my car and when I went to pick it up today I only did they wash the car they totally detailed the interior was totally caught me by surprise. I’ve never seen that before but I would definitely recommend Steve’s European automotive to anybody looking to have their European vehicle serviced. I had the timing belt done and I have them check issue I was having with my brakes and it turned out to be the sensors were corroded and they have the parts in stock so I was able to get two things done around the same time without having to bring the vehicle back a second time. All of my future repairs will be done at Steve’s!

Comment: I reached out to Steves with a challenging (intermittent) problem with my Volvo. George took the time to read my intake notes carefully and gave me the type of reply that is uncommon with many mechanics: a thoughtful and honest one. He suggested (rightly) that the problem I was facing was complex, and one best solved by a specialist shop. He also provided a few more ideas for debug.It might seem silly to leave a five star review for a shop that I didnt end up using, but for a mechanic to forego a potentially lucrative sale by telling a customer to save their money by going to a niche place, and to also give additional perspective on areas worth looking at, is rare indeed. Ill be sure to go to Steves for maintenance in the future based on that sort of thoughtful transparency alone.

Comment: This was my second visit at Steve’s with my Audi. They did such a great job with my clutch I had to come back. This time I had them do some intake valve cleaning by walnut blasting. They also recommended that I replace the intake as well as the injectors while they are in there already. I’m sure glad Jordan recommended that I replace them. The original intake was warped and the injectors were pretty gummed up. The walnut blasting made a huge difference. I was experiencing a misfire in cylinder two. It’s smooth now with no misfires. Steve’s also provided a loaner vehicle. These guys won me over for good. Top notch! Below are photos of one of the valve sets before and after they completed the walnut blasting.

Comment: I just had to take a moment and show some appreciation for Steve Fowler from Steves European Auto. Ive been trying to get into Steves for a while since Ive heard great things from a trusted resource. I have an appointment in a couple days since they are very busy, but I wanted to share that Steve has been amazing. My vehicle is over 140k miles and is my main transportation and work van. Needless to say, it is added stress to think about an unexpected and costly auto repair. Steve was incredibly sympathetic, kind and patient as he asked questions and talked me through some things to gather more information on the issue (which I have no idea) - trust me, Ive googled and you tubed! 100% of the time so far with Steve (2 phone calls) he showed genuine care and empathy for my situation, even though he is super busy. He also made it easy for me to talk to him and never talked down to me, he actually met me at my level. So far, it has been a FIRST CLASS experience with someone who has not forgotten the importance of excellent customer service. Its no surprise they are so busy! Thank you Steve for your help so far! Comment: I first went to Steves shortly after purchasing a horribly beat-up and ratty Audi TT, to get an initial evaluation and have some of the major issues addressed. I noticed on my visits that their lot houses some absolutely monstrous vehicles! Lamborghinis, BMW Ms, Audi RSs, classics, you name it! I definitely felt like I might be walking into a place where my car and I were outclassed and unwanted. I worked with Jordan, and all of my worries were proven to be unwarranted. We spoke of what my goals were with the TT, and he respected that I intended to make it into a project car, and would be looking to do a large amount of work on it myself. The inspection process that followed was the best Ive ever seen! everything was evaluated by the mechanic and a report was sent to me directly, including pictures and details of every finding. Ive since had my progressively-getting-less-ratty TT back for a visit to receive an ECU Tune which really brought it to life after a number of performance mods, and plan on going back when big turbo plans are ready to implement. Jordan also went to bat for me with a manufacturer for some warranty concerns, and it was greatly appreciated! I cannot recommend Steves enough

Not only did they fix my wheel bearing, but they were able to salvage my axle (by investing additional time and EFFORT,) this was no easy project. They saved me A LOT OF MONEY!! Fidel in parts is the man hands down , there was a back order from Southbend clutch on a stage 3 endurance kit for over a month , but Fidel kept me in the loop each week letting me have a status update . Today , well it’s on order . I had my GTI tuned (APR stage1) and everyone I talked to was very helpful and friendly and didnt seemed bothered by the fact that they had to help me like some places do, despite being VERY busy that day. In fact JD, who did the tune, was clearly working non stop that day and didnt turn me away when I showed up without an appointment(I had talked to him on the phone earlier but not fully set it in stone if I would be there or not) which really gave me that valued customer feeling. The professionalism, kindness and cleanliness sold me. I dont write a lot of reviews, this may be my first?? But I just wanted to return the favor for these guys being so great. Also the owner, Steve, was very kind as well which gave the place that old school We take care of our customers feel. Another one was put in took car to Texas on trailer it failed in few days after arriving here. Found repair shop in Texas and they found old parts where used to repair clutch and parts where not comparable with each other. I gave Steve’s a large sum of money for repairs and received nothing for my money! What I receive was the worst repair service I have ever had in my life! I paid for the second visit over the phone so I could pick up my car after hours. When I got there, the tire pressure light was on. My first thought was to just drive it and it will turn off after the car gets a reading. Nope. 20 minutes home and the light stayed on. All 4 tires had the correct amount of air. I think they were completely stunned when I called in the morning to tell them I had an issue. Most likely they were in a hurry and assumed it would turn off after driving (they had to resync one of the sensors).Reading all of the good reviews and after talking with Steve, I truly believe they are a good honest shop. Im guessing their biggest weakness is that they are so busy that they sometimes have a lot going on and get into a hurry. Not a good excuse, but likely what happened. While waiting for a routine maintenance, an American car had a flat tire down the street and a European sports-car experienced some abnormalities. Rare and hard to find EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!Unfortunately, disappointing! Looking for mechanics passionate about VW/Audi and residing 1.25 hours north of Waterford I did my research on this place by reading many of the reviews before scheduling an appointment. What I liked most about the reviews, besides being mostly positive about the work and customer service, was the owners time to reply to them whether positive or negative. This says a lot as it takes valuable time to do this!I had a number of jobs in mind when considering Steves. I had just purchased a new VW and to start was looking for installation of a trailer hitch. I would tend to do things like this myself but being March in Michigan it is just too cold outside to attempt, at least for me anyways as I do not have a heated garage. I made the initial call to confirm whether or not they performed this type of work. I spoke with Stephen Burke. I shared details of the hitch, where I intended to purchase it from and my anticipated use of it (hitch mounted bike rack). Stephen stated they could do the install and with this news I told him I would order the hitch and place a call at a future date to schedule the appointment once it arrived. I didnt want to schedule the appointment at that moment just in case delivery was delayed.Once the hitch arrived I made a call and spoke with Stephen again. We scheduled Friday, March 30, at 10:00 am. About 2.5 weeks in advance. I like to make good use of my free time so I asked him duration of the install and he quoted approximately 1.0 hour. I added the appointment to my cell phone calendar.I walked into Steves European Automotive on Friday, March 30, a few minutes in front of 10:00 am. I gave Stephen my name and appointment time and the reply was roughly We dont have you on our schedule. Stephen stated he remembered talking to me over the phone but somehow my appointment was not entered into their system. When it comes to first impressions this is exactly what you DO NOT want to hear! He told me dont worry we can still get you in. After this the tension was relieved some but doubt was setting in. He presented me with the quote in writing for the work and to my surprise was much more than what I had anticipated based on the phone-quoted install time (I was supplying the parts - hitch and hardware). Yikes! After viewing the quote I commented that it was expensive and he replied We have to take the rear bumper off the car, weve never done one of these and will take a few hours. A different story line from the phone conversation; this really pushes doubt. Against my better judgment I signed the quote because I had already traveled the distance, really wanted to have this installed and completed. He took my key and gathered information on my vehicle and I was asked to take a seat. Where I was seated I could see my vehicle in the parking lot. So I began the wait... patiently, but unsettled about both the install cost and missing appointment/scheduling. As I sat and waited for a service tech with a Steves European Automotive sweatshirt to come and take my car into the garage I kept wondering how long am I going to have to wait? What time will I get home today? Checking my phone seeing 10:31 and my car exactly where I parked it in the parking lot, principle alone told me you need to walk, NOW! So I walked up to the counter, asked Steve for my keys, and walked.Why 2 stars and not 1 after something like this? They are polite and it is worth a star even if their logistical skills are bumbling. Would I go back? Well, that remains to be seen. The great number of positive reviews about this place can certainly not be a fluke but they are not representative of my first experience. Lets see if and what the owner replies.

Comment: Undeniably the most quality, comprehensive, consultive experiences Ive ever had in any service industry. First, my clutch went on my Audi A4 Quattro. Instead of going through my expected motions of replacing my clutch with a stock clutch, I was honestly and truly consulted by Jordan Fowler and I chose to get the rs4 stage 1 clutch replacement in my a4. It ran me $125 additional to have the rs4 clutch installed. Adhering to Jordans recommendation was a very intelligent decision. The spring, pop, and longevity of this clutch... I cant stop talking about. I will never have to replace my clutch (at least for the next 300k miles) again and can withstand any modification that I throw at it as its rated to handle more HP than most any A4 has on the road. Dealing with German engineering, I cant thank Jordan and the crew enough for keeping my 2007 A4 alive. Most recently, I had my timing belt replaced as it was slipping immensely... I was 2 to 3 cranks away from catastrophic engine damage when I brought it in as the Pistons wouldve inevitably made contact with the valves causing a repair that was triple the worth of the car had I not had my timing belt replaced because my belt was the worst they had ever seen... Ever! Working with German engineering on the daily, theres something to be said about being told that this scenario was the worst they had ever seen. My timing belt will be hung on the wall at Steves European Auto as the condition, before it was replaced, is historic. I told Jordan that Id sign it beforehand, but the silver Sharpie was nowhere to be found. Honesty, integrity, and dignity are three words that always come to mind whenever leaving my Audi in Jordans hands. Thanks, brother!

Comment: Got my jetta flashed about 3 or 4 years ago, moved out of the state, and lost the flash due to some repair work by a vw dealership. moved back eventually. They were able to look up my car and reflash my jetta for only the cost of labor. Also ran through a full checkup and oil change at my request since it was time for a minor service. There were some other mods but they advised against it, saving me money.Great shop, honest feedback, excellent work. Im definitely coming back here for future work despite how far away it is from me.

Working in the automotive industry for an automotive manufacturer, it is hard to find a shop i feel I can trust.I find this shop VERY professional and does great work. I rolled the dice on this shop with aftermarket installation. I anticipated a pretty pricy offer, or a hack job. My bill was far reasonable for what they did. For a shop that doesnt cut corners, Im willing to pay the price, despite the complaints in the comments about pricing.I get it that other comments state it is expensive, but these guys do better work than any other place Ive been to, the customer experience is great, and custom work is top notch. Working with the industry most of my working career in some form, cutting corners is a common practice.No cutting corners here, I can assure you that. Pay to have it done RIGHT! Comment: I was looking to get a tune on my Audi A4 and Steves was recommended to me by a few people. I called them several times with different questions because I was curious about some specifics and I always got helpful answers from both Jordan and JD. I was finally ready to get the tune so I called and spoke to Jordan who was able to make sure I was getting exactly what I wanted. I scheduled an appointment and went into the shop where I was greeted by JD and Jordan. Although all of them are very knowledgeable when it comes to APRs tuning programs, Jordan told me that Stephen knew everything about them. He was helping me with the details and although I was ready to spend the extra money, he told me that for what I wanted I did not have to spend an additional $135 as I expected, so not only did I get great customer service and quick, quality work, I also saved $135 thanks to the amazing team at Steves European Automotive.

Comment: Where can I begin? I found S.E.A on Google and read the great reviews. I am very hesitant going to a new shop but the reviews spoke more than any word of mouth could. I recently bought an audi s4 and realized it was leaking oil. Very glad I found S.E.A when I did because they saved me thousands of dollars. I was greeted by Jordan (the owners son) as soon as I pulled into the shop. The second we met I knew my car was in the best possible care. Jordan walked me through everything they were doing and even texted me pictures along the way. The staff at S.E.A bent over backwards getting my 2004 s4 ready for the road again. I highly recommend this shop to anyone that drives any German car. They do not discriminate either, they will work on American cars no problems or questions. Its hard now a days finding an honest reliable auto shop. The staff at S.E.A surpassed my expectations and returned my audi back to me in a timely fashion. The day after I got my car back, we had a huge winter storm, and the car handles perfectly. The check engine light came on, so I took it first to an Audi dealership where they told us that in order to fix what was wrong with it we would need to spend over $12,000. Of course with a quote like that we looked for alternative options. With Steves European Auto they assessed the problem and offered a solution to us for just $1,000. They were able to offer this solution because they took the time to further evaluate the extent of damage, where the Audi dealer saw the problem and wanted to replace everything. Comment: I took my 2008 Audi A6 to Steves recently because my check engine light was on and I could not be happier with my experience.There were 6 fault codes including CAM shaft and oxygen sensor which I already knew from my own test and other auto shops test. Before going to Steves I took my car to local auto shop in Brighton but they declined to do the work. They are a good shop but fixing an Audi Cam shaft issue was more than they wanted to do. Next, I took my car to an Audi dealership in Birmingham and spent $260 to have them INCORRECTLY diagnose the problem. They told me my chain was stretched and if I did not get it fixed soon the engine would fail. I even asked if there was any other option and they said no, replacing the chain and related components was the only option. Their quote included $2,400 in parts (chains, tensioners, and gaskets) and over $4,400 in labor $6,800 total (almost as much as the car is worth).Steves took the time to correctly diagnose the problems through a very thorough and in-depth evaluation. You could tell they wanted to fix the problem by only addressing what really needed to be fixed and not just replacing a bunch of parts. They first tried to clean some of the parts (I think the sensors and relays). Since only one oxygen sensor side had a fault error, they switched the sensors to determine if the sensor was bad or if it was something else. The error code came up on the other side so they knew the sensor was bad and replaced it. Also, they decided to replace the relays which eliminated the CAM shaft error codes. Additionally, Steves was able tell from the CAM shaft error code that the timing chain was off in the opposite direction than a stretched chain would indicate. You would hope an Audi stealership would have caught this. Additionally, the Audi stealership did not even quote replacing the time chain relays which as why the engine light was on.I would highly recommend Steves and will definitely take my car back. They are very friendly and walked me through their thoughts/plan every step of the way. My total cost was under 1/5 of the cost of the Audi dealership quote.

Comment: So.... I was at a job interview and had to drive my ( new to me ) 1987 560sl about 40 miles to get there. After leaving the interview that I nailed and they wanted me to start the next day, I went out to get in my car and drive home. I looked down and there was a pool of anti freeze all over the parking lot ..... LOOOONNNNGGGGGGG story short. The car was not getting any fluids to the radiator. Jordan REALLY was helpful with me knowing my financial situation and trying to keep the repairs just to what really needed to be done to the car to get it road worthy again and saved me about $1000 if I had ended up at probably any other shop. Steves got my business and will be sending anyone I know that is having problems with there cars to them. They service your vehicle, tailoring their work to your personal needs. Their mechanics (Rob) do precision work. Steve, the owner is great! Jordan was my point person and he really cares about his customers. After my bus was finished they spent the better part of a day orienting me to caring for and driving my bus. Comment: After going to an advanced auto parts for a check engine light I went to Steves. I was told I had dirty coolant or a bad sensor from advanced autoparts, but Steves correctly diagnosed the problem which was a bad thermostat. Retrospectively I did notice my engine did not get to optimal temperature when drive but now it is there in no time. Cost me 100 for the initial inspection and 600 for the parts/labor. Didnt call around too much to check prices but I am willing to pay a little extra for proper service (which I believe I got). Overall I am satisfied. Hope this helps.

Comment: I was skeptical because the first thing I noticed is that every review written had excellent spelling and grammar, which made me think perhaps it was staged.I was (gladly) proven wrong when I took my Saab in to run some tests. They were extremely friendly, made every one feel like they were a priority, and even took me back into the shop so I could see exactly what was going on with my vehicle.Despite what some reviews say, these guys arent that pricey at all. Im sold as a life long customer.

Comment: I have been taking my 2001 New Beetle TDI to SEA since 2002.Just had an oil change and waste gate adjustment.The entire team of employees are always so helpful and friendly.Steve even comes out to say hello even when they are busy ( ALWAYS).Great service every time, Thanks again!

Comment: Extremely friendly staff and provided excellent care. Took my car for an oil change, engine tune-up, tire rotation, front and rear break check up, and was out of the shop within two hours. These guys are very detailed! Totally worth the 25 minutes drive!

Comment: THE BEST! Ive owned two VW Jettas, and both have proved to be temperamental and have their quirks. Ive learned that they require particular maintenance done by specialized mechanics. After extensive engine work, suspension work, and even basic oil changes done at over 5 different shops, both domestic and foreign, I will NEVER take my car anywhere else. Not only does Steves European Auto provide great mechanical service, but their customer service is phenomenal...and not just in a way where they have a nice waiting room and are kind people. Stephen took the time to explain in detail everything going on with my car, even using models, until I totally felt like I totally understood the issues. He also test drove it numerous times and kept it over night to be 100% sure everything was okay. They truly go above and beyond at this shop to make sure your car is taken care of and running safely. My car has also been APR tuned here, and I can attest that it performs inexplicably better than before. I will continue coming here for all scheduled maintenance and other issues. It is worth the extra drive for me to ensure my car is taken care of properly.

Comment: Gotta love a car repair place that makes you feel like they actually care! Thats what makes me keep coming back. (Of course, Steves wifes homemade cookies help too!) ;o) Ive never felt pressured from the staff, and theyve gone above and beyond to help me have a good experience and do quality repairs. The staff is super friendly, too! I definitely recommend this place!
