Comment: I wanted to update my review of Packard Auto Repair because I have now gone to them for 9 years. They have provided us with prompt and fast service with everything from oil changes to important repairs. Their prices are fair and their work is super reliable. I trust their advice and their work. I wouldnt go to anyone else!The guys at Packard Auto Repair were incredibly nice. We had a very simple problem which was that we had to replace our license plate but the bolts had rusted so thoroughly that we couldnt remove them. They took care of it without issue and didnt even charge us.

Comment: The mechanics and this shop are terrific!! I drove my 2014 Acura RDX up to A2/UM (my alma mater) from the Wash, DC area for a game. On FRI evening before the SAT game, the car began to misfire and check engine light went on—a recurrent problem requiring repairs (same cylinder fuel & spark—injector, coil and/or plug—three times over past 6 months. Last “definitive repair” was 2 weeks ago.Online reviews were excellent. I dropped car off SAT morning after speaking to Ahmed. Car was diagnosed and fixed by 2 pm! (My shop has been using the wrong plugs which did not tolerate higher combustion temps.) Coupled with a needed oil change, cost was very reasonable—well below my charges back home.These folks are terrific!!

He has a wealth of mechanical understanding that immediately shows. More importantly, he is genuine and honest. He is not trying to get your dollars as mucch as he makes sure he understands your you & your auto while providing a solution. He employs and supervises mechanics with a similar linear style and spirit. Id recommend Packard to any foriegn or domestic care owner who cares more about how they and their auto are treated then the locations appearance. Comment: It is very stressful, as a parent, when you child is away from home (in college) and has car trouble and you arent familiar with any auto repair places near them. Our son had problems with his Cadillac converter in May. After reading many online reviews for a few repair places in the Ann Arbor area, we had our son take his car to a couple places for estimates. Ahmad at Packard Auto Repair gave use a couple options on how he could do the repair at an affordable cost, a cost much more reasonable than the other quotes we received. He did a great job fixing the car. A couple weeks ago, our son called home because his breaks werent working, Ahmad advised that our son shouldnt drive the car and had the car towed to the shop at no cost to us. He fixed the break lines and windshield wiper pump. Again, he did a great job. He is a wonderful person and took the extra time to assure a very nervous mom that her son would be safe to drive his vehicle. Two days ago, Ahmad and the Packard crew took time out of their already busy day to look over our sons car to be sure that a noise he was hearing wasnt affecting the safety condition of the car. They did this as a courtesy. Ahmad, again, assured us that the car would be safe to drive anywhere because he knew that our son would be driving back and forth on the express way. He never tried to take advantage of the fact that he was speaking to a woman. He is a very honest, respectful person. All three times that they have worked on our sons car they have been expedient, never keeping it longer than necessary and always calling in a timely matter to discuss their diagnosis. I would recommend Ahmad and Packard Auto Repairs to anyone, at any time. Keep up the great work!!!

Comment: I bought a car and the second time I drove it, it overheated. I took it to firestone and they told me it was the waterpump and thermostat and quoted me 3000 to fix everything. I took it here and they fixed it for $30! Aparently it was as simple as flushing the radiator! Firestone didnt have a clue, and these guys fixed it up no problem! They didnt try to push anything else on me, and they were polite and efficient! Thank you packard auto!!

Second, they were very kind and they fixed my truck really quick (took a few hours). Also, their prices seem reasonable, with a 1 year warranty. Everyone is super nice, the costs are affordable, and the work is fast and reliable.Elaborated version:Im not from Ann Arbor and will only be living here for a few more years, but...Okay, so I never thought I would find myself saying this about my mechanics, but when my family moves, this shop is one of the things I will miss the most (Dont judge, A good mechanic can be hard to find and I dont get out much).Im a young-ish professional with a 16 year old, ol reliable type car and after moving to A2 and commuting a ton for work, the reliable part of my car became more of a, reliable as in something will reliably break, fail, malfunction, etc.I cannot say enough about how friendly, knowledgeable, and reasonable these guys have been.- They explain whats going on in a non-condescending and informative way, offer me options and advice (you know, when Im torn on whether to send my car sailing over a cliff or sink another however many hundreds of dollars into it), and politely entertain my awkward personality (even when Im sure theyve seen enough of me and my car for a while).Anyway, I definitely recommend Packard Auto Repair if youre in the market for a good shop.

Comment: I stopped in a few weeks ago because I had a flat tire. I had filled it with air at a gas station but wanted to have the pressure in all the tires checked and see if they could figure out why the one tire had gone flat. They added checked the pressures, added air to the tire, and upon inspection discovered I had a nail in the tire, which they removed and patched. All this was done in less than 15 minutes. I have used Packard Auto Repair for routine maintenance for the past few years and they are always prompt and professional.

Comment: Extremely happy with our experience. Left Subaru stranded on side of road(thought it was major transmission/engine coolant system problems.) Left keys in night drop. They were able to tow vehicle to their shop, diagnose the problem (failed alternator), get parts, make repairs, test drove, and had us back on the road the same day. All this without an appointment! It saved our weekend plans. The price was reasonable, the customer service/communication was prompt and professional. Happy we found them. They will definitely get more of our business in the future.

Comment: The best in the area. A bigger parking lot would help. But of course you cant find a park at the best place. Theyll usually have the best price. So now I dont check to see if they have the best price anymore. I think i trust them. Lol. When I do my own minor repairs, like hoses, tuneup, brakes, they let me know if I did it right. I actually learn about my car each time I go. There are other places that will educate you too, but not for the same price.

When we moved a few years ago to the Ann arbor we thought we would try a garage closer to home and immediately regret it. Its worth the extra miles to know youre getting honest, fast, reasonable, and reliable service from really talented mechanics. Its the only place I recommend to anyone anymore.By the way - they have employees that are as loyal as their customers, which says a lot.Theyre also great at the tell me what it sounded like puzzle... somehow they always know whats wrong when you have NO IDEA. Comment: I am an automotive engineer with experience in design as well as manufacturing. I have been here twice now for pretty extensive work and these guys are top notch. Their labor rates are extremely reasonable and they are honest and really try to get you the best value. During one of my repairs they found a very expensive and hard to find part by calling local salvage yards and ended up driving out to Detroit to get it for me at far less the cost the dealer quoted. I will be back again for work as I have had nothing but good experiences here. The shop is small an unassuming, but dont let the looks fool you. These guys do great work.

Comment: I have been going to Packard Auto Repair since I moved to Ann Arbor last year. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and they always explain to me exactly what is going on with my car. They call right away when its done and dont overcharge. On my last visit, my Airbag light had come on and some water had started leaking onto my foot by the accelerator. The guys at Packard fixed both without charging me a dime! The service is truly quality and makes me want to keep going back here as long as I live in the area. :)

I was in Ann Arbor this past weekend for the Michigan-Ohio State game when the regulator for my window broke and as a result my window dropped down inside the door. It was cold and raining out and I tried another auto repair shop in Ann Arbor who told me there was nothing they could do as they didnt have the part. Packard was the only place still open and I stopped by there to see if they could help. While they didnt have the part, they were able to get my window up and secure. They got my car in right away even though they were about to close. Most places nearing closing time would say they cant do anything but not these guys. They were helpful and courteous! They turned a bad situation in into a good one. If you need auto repair done in the Ann Arbor area, I highly recommend seeing the team at Packard auto! Thank you!

Comment: These guys are really awesome. So my transmission cable broke. I went to a mechanic near me and he bought a bushing to fix it. Charged me $192 including labor, one week later it broke again. I had their tow truck driver tow my car to their shop cause it was so close to it. They took everything apart and told me whoever fixed my car used a zip tie to hold the pieces together. I was furious at the last guy. I paid $192 just for a zip tie!!!! Long story short they fixed my car, they showed me the problem, and I even got to watch them fix it. Great mechanics.

Comment: Friends wouldnt necessarily call me a risk taker, but when it comes to getting any kind of car work done, I tend to put it off to the last minute because I fear getting taken advantage of since Im a female. So you can imagine my dread at having to call different shops to get quotes for brake replacement. Packard Auto provided the lowest quote at $199 for parts & labor over the phone, though the person bumped it up slightly when I brought the car in. Perhaps it was a tax on time; After all, I did wait 2 weeks from the phone quote to the actual service. After taxes, I rolled out of their shop with brand spanking new front and rear brake pads and rotor for $199 Its been over 2 weeks and everything is just fine with the car! Lowest quote for the service needed and quickly done work; Im a happy customer!

Unfortunately I didnt find Packard Auto until last year, but Im relieved to finally have a place to take my car (a 2007 Ford Escape). Every experience Ive had there has been amazing and affordable, and Im always given all of the details with regard to what needs to be fixed - from the immediately necessary repairs to minor ones that could potentially be done in the future - giving me options to work within my budget. Comment: This is a great auto repair shop. I had a flat rear tire and my usual service center left me on hold for 10 minutes and didnt reply to my online request for a service appointment. I called Packard Auto Repair, brought my car around immediately and they fitted me into their busy schedule on a Saturday. They found and fixed the problem (a 1 inch screw embedded in the tire) within five minutes. Professional, friendly, no fuss service and even waived the bill. I was back on the road with no hassles and I can definitely recommend this place for auto repairs.

Comment: Ive had my truck in a few times and around 5000 miles ago had my rear differential replaced. I recently brought it back in because it felt like the diff was slipping. They checked out the differential and found that the problem was actually with the transfer case. They charged me nothing for the diagnostic and also fixed a sensor and a taillight while it was in at no charge. This is amazing because I am still undecided on whether or not I will be fixing the transfer case. 1000 recommendations to this shop. Ive never been treated better.
