I have a 2001 z3 that I brought in for service, and the advisors and techs were super clear on their diagnosis, what needed to be done, and educated me on the priority of work as well as what could wait. After looking around for a good local mech, I can happily say Ive found one. Its hard to find a team that does great work and is also honest and this shop does both. On concurrent visits, Ive brought my other cars for advice and they are always friendly and open to taking a look to give an honest opinion (even if it includes not using them and going somewhere else!) Really appreciate the honesty and superb work done by the team

Comment: I like to buy my cars outright and keep them until they rust. A relationship with a good mechanic is a must-have to make this system work. For many years my 2007 Volvos primary care physician worked at the local dealership and he did a great job. When I learned that he moved out of state it was a true loss. As luck would have it another trusted local business, Ross-Beakes Collision, referred me to Orion for work on my Volvo. In my first meeting there with Mike I noticed a Land Rover in the lot and asked about that. I also own a LR4 and have been driving it to the dealer in Farmington Hills for service.Long story short, I have had both vehicles in for service and these guys did great. They were on top of known issues for both vehicles and thorough in their inspection. Everything they found and recommended was documented with a write-up and photos. Pricing was itemized by service item. And their digital game is on point so we were able to communicate, review work estimates and transact our business all online, a definite bonus in this COVID situation.If youre like me and play the long game with your vehicles I gladly recommend Orion based on my recent interactions with them.

I had been coming to them for years with my old VW Passat and always appreciated their honest, friendly and thoughtful approach to what service my car needed (and what was a nice to have). Comment: We stopped by to have our car checked because it was making a weird sound, and had a great experience! We didnt have an appointment (we had just decided to try a mechanic and happened to be nearby) but they were able to check it in between other appointments. They checked it over and explained everything to us, and then they even washed off the car (which was a bit dirty). The waiting room was nice with a lot of cool decor and interesting stuff and a friendly dog to pet. Would definitely go back!

Comment: Short Review:These guys are awesome!They have real pride in what they do...Friendly, honest, knowledgable, experienced...They go above and beyond.This was the best experience Ive ever had with any car shop...Long Review:My Car: 2001 Audi TT QuattroMy Problem: Backfiring, Sluggish Acceleration, Questionable Suspension FeelingMy Experience with orion:I found Orion through a Bing search Audi Repair Shops...I called them at the first minute their shop opened, they answered, they were friendly and helpful...I scheduled an appointment, yet could drop it off anytime early, they have a dropbox…THE COOLEST THING… They email a link that shows ALL the information you need about what is going on with your vehicle… They take pictures and notes of what you told them and what they find and upload it to this page as they work on it… Pricing of parts and labor are shared… You can publish on the page if you want to contact them without calling…They found things I had not expected, yet needed addressing CLEARLY as could be seen from the pictures they shared… (Axle issues)They found sensors that needed replacing…Hoses with leaks.. And other stuff..They gave my car a full out professional inspection (Like the one you expect from an overpriced dealership)...I go in to get the car…They WANT to talk about my car and it’s issues…I asked how the spark plugs looked when they removed them and...They bring out the mechanic from the back of the shop to talk to me!(With my old spark plugs and other stuff they removed)He gives me tons of great advice specific to my car...He tells me things I should look out for in the future…He tells me he WANTS to know how much better my car is running and I believe it!It was WASHED! Comment: Above and beyond is an understatement. My wife and I took my senior mothers car. Saab 95 was in rough shape and poorly maintained. I was listened to the entire time from start to finish. I set a $ amount and told Michael if it went above that amount i needed to notified. Not only did I never receive that dreaded call but they accomplished all work plus so much more. Yes people, Im talking extras. Car was cleaned out and they fixed a heating issue without a dollar added to the bill. Mechanic was great with extensive knowledge of that odd breed of car the Saab. If your ever in doubt and in need of a HONEST service shop give them a ring.

They were so friendly and immediately helped us despite their obviously busy lineup. They talked us through what was wrong, fixed what they could, and had us ready to continue our drive within an hour. They also have an awesome waiting area, the friendliest dog youve ever met, and gave us their card so we could call them with questions and for referrals. If we lived closer, theyd totally be our car people.

Comment: SPECTACULAR!!! If I could give more than 5 stars I would! I was traveling to Michigan from Pennsylvania when my Land Rover had an issue. Of course my husband was at home and I had my two small boys with me...what to do? I contacted Orion and, although they were very busy, they offered to take a look at my car given my situation. Not only did they quickly take care of my vehicle, the staff was beyond kind, the place was meticulously clean, and they had a wonderful dog in the waiting room (miss you Huxley!) that kept my boys entertained and basically served as a therapy dog for a completely stressed out mom. Comment: Ive lived in Ann Arbor for (gasp!) 55 years, and owned cars here for the last 45 of those years. Ive had several great independent mechanics over those years. Orion, which has been tending my cars for the last couple of decades, is the best of the best. I can say amen to all the stories in all the other 5-star reviews youll see (on Google, Yelp, etc.) regarding Orions service, their helpfulness, their integrity, their friendliness, their creativity, their competence, and (last but not least) their dog.Let me add that, unlike the late-model BMWs and Lexuses that grace a lot of Orions service bays, my typical car is a twelve-year-old Civic featuring 200,000 miles and plenty of rust. So I can testify that Orion is not just a shop for tending to the luxury fleet. Rich and company are equally great at managing cars through their Golden Years - including sage advice on what is and isnt worth fixing, how to keep it running at minimal cost, and sometimes some gentle counseling that its better to junk this old guy rather than paying us to fix him up once more.

I took my car to Orion because they not only said they could fix the vehicle but that they were excited to see a Saab in their shop. The service was incredible and the prices were excellent. I have weird work schedules so I need a shop that is willing to work with my unconventional pick up and drop off times. Michael didnt blink an eye when I requested to leave the vehicle with them for an extended time. They repaired a problem that has plagued my vehicle for awhile and that several other mechanics had failed to fix. Their prices were more than fair especially considering the quality of the work they do. These guys are masters of their craft.

Comment: Its so great to find a shop where i dont dread bringing my car each time it needs service. michael, jason...everyone at orion is professional, friendly and efficient. they have worked me in on the spot if something has come up with my car, and loan me a car (for free!) regardless of the length of time the service will take-- an afternoon or a few days. they dont make a big deal about these things, or expect any great thanks, but its a wayyy different model than ive experienced anywhere else dealership or otherwise. the work is solid and i know i can trust them, so much so,that i hate the thought of returning to the dealership if i buy a new car down the road. its hard to imagine returning to indefinite waits and being treated stereotypically as a woman in a car shop. for now im glad to be a proud customer!thanks guys for everything!

Their mechanics are at the top of their game. I have had one car that has been rescued a number of times by David from the used car lot because of their knowledge and expertise. Chip and the rest always find time to explain and help out. They do all the small things that make you as a customer feel valued. They have helped me even in situations when I have been out of town and have needed a service consult. It is a very sophisticated shop with a very friendly small town atmosphere. If they cant fix it, it may not be fixable.

Comment: There are certain types of professional people that if you know makes life a little easier, a honest mechanic is one. Orion is is a different breed, they explain everything, the customer service is like no other shop around, the shop itself is as clean as a art gallery, the final price always matches the quote, Ive never experienced a issue with work not being completed on time. From the moment they answer the phone, to the moment you drive away with a repaired vehicle, they offer top notch service without the patronizing attitude or the switch and bait drama. They help you prioritize the necessity of the repairs, make helpful suggestions, as well as tell you the truth of when it just might be time to cash your chips in and look to replace. We first discovered them from a message board from other Mercedes owners and with the dealership being idiots, we were at the end of our road. Yet, they were able to help at a FRACTION of the cost and even loaned a vehicle to me so I could continue about my way. They have been our exclusive go-to group with any issue on any of our cars. They like them all. Again, I cannot recommend them enough and suggest to all my friends to first give them a call. No, I am not married to anyone working there. Last year, they moved the operation from their old Liberty shop to Parkland Plaza, just off Jackson Rd – pretty much across the road from the BMW dealer. Why go to the BMW dealer and get hosed, when these guys are better mechanics, who save you money, save the planet, and serve you better coffee than you make at home?Bigger, better shop, with the smartest mechanics, looking out for YOUR interests, above their billable hours. Their floor is still clean enough to eat off, and they are just top notch, honest, and caring. Always done right on my BMWs, and have taken care of many folks I know, regardless if they are driving a tuned supercar, or keeping the old grocery getter on the road.Especially good and respectful to the ladies — no mansplaining, greaseball, dudebro mechanic BS here, and they moonlight as artists, organic gardners, and philosophers – the kinda guys you would wanna bring home to you mother, if thats your thing.

From the initial telephone call I was treated extremely professionally, all required work on my Jetta was explained fully and costs seemed reasonable. The work was completed and my car was ready exactly when I was told it was going to be. It now runs extremely well and I have no hesitation in taking my car to Orion again. Comment: These guys magic men!I had to get my moms mini fixed up while she was out of town. I first tried going to the local dealer with little to no luck... the dealer wasnt only unable to not fix, let alone diagnose it, their service was awful. The only thing the mini dealer did right, was direct me to Orion Auto.Not only did I feel like I received a fair price but I also enjoyed interacting with everyone there. They offered to drive me where I needed to go and pick me up when it was done and when they needed to keep the car overnight they where considerate enough to make sure I had a ride home.Long story short, the car runs great and it didnt run me my lifes savings. I will defiantly use Orion Auto again.

Comment: The folks at Orion Automotive Services are Honest, Knowledgeable, Honest, Accommodating, Honest, Helpful, Honest, Friendly, and most importantly they Provide excellent service!! They are also concerned about your wallet!!NEED I SAY MORE?....probably NOT....but I will!They are also willing to help you out in a pinch. Last year as we were packing my sons car to leave Univ of Michigan to drive back to Maryland the trunk lock jammed and the trunk would not close, therefore we could not load and pack up the car. I called Orion and although they were fully booked they said to bring the car over and they would look at it as soon as they could. They looked at it immediately, fixed the problem immediately....and DID NOT even charge me!! This year in April my son took the car if for service...the car needed some costly work done on the car...Michael worked with us to find parts that were not original Mercedes parts that were much less expensive. They also were able to replace a broken door handle for minimal amount of money after others told me it would cost quite a bit to fix because they had to take the entire door apart, blah, blah, blah!! Not the case with Orion. The only glitch was that the part was coming in after my son was coming home to MD for a few weeks, but he was leaving the car in Ann Arbor. I asked Orion if my son left the car with them, would they be able to replace the handle while he was away; the only catch was they would need to keep the car there for 3 weeks until my son came back to Ann Arbor to pick it up. Of course they agreed to keep the car, without any storage fee and also started it once in a while so that it would start when my son returned.Michael was very willing to call me to discuss the work the car needed, what the costs were, etc even though my son was the one who brought the car in for service. Michael also informed me of other service the car will need in the near future - ie new tires and brakes.I would gladly recommend Orion Automotive Services to anyone. I especially recommend them to University of Michigan students who are from out of state and are in need of honest, dependable, excellent automotive service while away from home.

Comment: I had an alternator installed in Kalamazoo that began overcharging 4 months later, which was still under warranty. To avoid driving back to Kalamazoo the people at Orion Automotive offered to fulfill the warranty here in Ann Arbor. They mentioned it was the first time they have done a part replacement which was under warranty, so it took many calls to the manufacturer to figure out how to handle it, as the original part was replaced by a different shop. They very prompt and kept me updated through the whole process. They did a very thorough inspection of the entire vehicle, and noticed issues that other shops hadnt noticed before. They also didnt push to fix these issues, they simply pointed them out for my knowledge which I highly appreciated. As for the alternator, it was discovered the plug is what was causing it to overcharge, not the alternator itself so it in turn was not under warranty. Because of this I will have to return to the shop in Kalamazoo and have them take care of it. They put everything back together and didnt charge me a dime. They were very friendly throughout this whole process, even though it took up so much of their time.I will definitely be coming back to this shop for any future repairs, and recommending them to all my family and friends. After the bad repair jobs I have had in the past, Im glad I finally found a reputable and honest shop that really knows what they are doing.Highly recommended!
