Comment: Highly recommend. I spoke to Jason about my brakes, as we were getting ready to go on a long trip, and needed them done ASAP. He explained they were pretty busy, but would try their best to get it done before the end of the day. He was able to get my car done with less then a days notice, quoted me correctly, the pricing was fair, explained things thoroughly. We are very satisfied with our experience at Northstar Auto. There was also a special red vine treat left for me in my car as a thank you! Great customer service! Ill be bringing my vehicle back for future repairs.

Comment: I spoke to Jason about what I thought was a bad wheel bearing. He explained they were pretty busy and gave me an estimated time that he would be able to get my vehicle in, but said if I tow it in, hell try to get to it sooner. He was honest, explained thoroughly what was wrong, and not only diagnosed, but even repaired it sooner than expected. The pricing was fair and I am very satisfied with my experience at Northstar Auto. Ill be bringing my vehicle back next week for the other side before it gets too bad. 5 Stars.

The car was brought to them on friday and it was done on Tuesday.They were booked but they squeezed me in and got it done quickly which helped my son and I immensely cuz being down to one car with a handicap in the house was a great help!! Comment: Outstanding shop. I brought my Dodge Ram 4x4 in to have the front axle joints checked out as they were making a rattling noise. I suspected the right u-joint was bad, but it turned out they were both shot. On inspection, they told me I should replace my front brake rotors and pads, plus one of the calipers was defective. Long story short, I got two new axle u-joints plus a front brake job for the price the dealer would have charged to replace one u-joint. On top of that, the communication was excellent, they kept me informed every step of the way. Top notch customer service! My thanks to Jason in the front office and Pat, the talented technician that repaired my vehicle!

I had my car towed to Northstar and in less than a day the replaced my fuel lines from front to back for half of my previously quoted price. The people at the shop were super friendly and helpful over the phone and to him in person. They were able to get his car in and out super quickly and get him on the road before anyone from our family had to drive 8 hours to get him since his dorms were closing for break. Comment: Back in November I had a check engine light and my engine was screeching. These guys were the people who were able to get me in the soonest to check it out, and boy am I glad it was them. They had genuinely some of the best customer service I have seen anywhere, working with me to get the repair in. I was in a rush because I needed to drive to the twin cities for thanksgiving, and they were fantastic about communicating what was going on through the whole process, and keeping me up to date. Unfortunately UPS dropped the ball on getting the part in on time despite the guys at Northstar trying their best to get it.Today I had a couple small issues. My car start displaying a warning about my coolant being low, and I had a wiper that had snapped off. Of course it was a no brainer who I would go to. I called ahead to check when I could bring it in, and it took no longer than 15 minutes after I arrived for me to be on my way.If you are in the Keweenaw area and need anything from small maintenance to important repairs done on your car, go here. I couldn’t recommend these guys enough.

Comment: I contacted NorthStar to inquire about having an aftermarket muffler installed on my truck. I was asked to visit them to so they could assess the job. When I visited I was told that they could get me to the job (2) days later and that I should drop it off and they would call when complete. I explained that I needed a scheduled time slot as I wasnt from the area and didnt have a ride. Two days later I arrived for my 1:00 appointment which was scheduled to take (2) hours. They immediately brought my truck in the shop and reassigned (2) technicians to work on it. In the meanwhile, I had a friend pick me up for lunch. One hour later, I received a phone call telling me that the job was complete. Not only did they accommodate my schedule but the work was top notch!

They have complementary refreshments ranging from chips, crackers, cookies, candy, water, and coffee. He called me around 1:30 to let me know the problem and give me an estimate, he called again 2ish hours later and the job was done and under the estimated price! I have never been a customer there before, but I will definitely go back! They even had a delicious bag of zebra popcorn on the seat when I picked it up! Comment: Looking for a skilled and honest mechanic you can trust? ... this is the place! My son goes to school here, we live in the Detroit area ... 9 hours away. This shop was upfront about the extent of work required, and what it would take to do it. They completed the work as was estimated in the timing promised ... so he could drive it home for Thanksgiving! When he got home, Doug at the shop worked with my local mechanic on other problems with the car (NOT caused or related to his work) ... even though there was nothing in it for him. This shop is committed to doing the right thing for its customers, and genuinely cares for them! I highly recommend them ... especially to MTU students away from home. Comment: Was on vacation from Illinois when started having brake problems. Looked on line and found the muffler shop. Called and told them my problem and told me to bring car in next morning at 7A. Doug offered me a Prius to use and advised he would call me. Just got back to where we were staying and got a call advising the problem and price to fix. I agreed and was told the car would be ready around 9:30A. Got a call back around 9A that it was done. Picked it up and was giving a copper ingot key chain. Upon getting in the car found a caramel popcorn treat with a thank you card. EXCELLENT service and friendly people. Can not recommend them enough.

Comment: Fantastic and honest work for an unbeatable price. The diagnosis is fast and on point, and I always seem to pull out of the lot having spent a lot less money and waiting a lot less time than I thought I would. I was always told what my options were and given a good rough cost upfront for each. I would never get this kind of service downstate, with them even offering to drive you to and from the shop sometimes.I have brought in multiple issues. What I thought was a bad wheel bearing was fixed with some rotor adjustment and a wheel rotation. Engine issues turned out to be bad spark plugs (and ultimately bad coil packs). They put in the plugs so I could get it up and running again and then I ordered and put in the coil packs myself.

Comment: This is my go-to auto shop in the area (along with my close friends). They provide timely, fair service and are very pleasant to deal with.Despite their name of The Muffler Shop theyre very capable of handling jobs of all sizes. Ive had work ranging from wheel bearings to head gaskets (Subaru, am I right?) done with no problems. Theyre extremely accommodating to local students (myself) by providing rides to & from campus/home.P.S. Their complementary sweet popcorn is excellent.

Comment: I’ve have indirectly through my fiancé experienced the prompt and friendly service provided by them many times. And today I brought in my 2003 Trailblazer to get inspected as I had been dealing with a couple problems. The issue ended up being a bit more expensive than I anticipated (only because of the issue, not the price of their service) yet the gentleman offered me a flexible option to take care of my payment and also rushed my job as I was in great need of my vehicle by the end of the day. They were friendly, polite and prompt. I would highly reccomend.Also, I recommend them to students! I’ve heard and seen examples of students being taken advantage of from local shops, but these guys are honest!Nice doing business with you all! I will be back.

Comment: What great service. While on vacation in the UP we were in need of a new muffler. We tried several places in Munising and Marquette and were told we couldnt get an appointment for 4 to 8 days. Called ahead to Houghton and Tim made sure we were taken care of properly. They loaned us a van to visit the Mineral Museum while they replaced our muffler. The bill came in under their initial estimate. They had our car ready and waiting, even hooked up our utility trailer for us. To top it off there were 4 bags of delicious gourmet popcorn in our car, compliments of Tim at The Muffler Shop.Thank you for the amazing service and hospitality!

Comment: Had to go in to get a serpentine belt fixed. The whole shop was super friendly and very informative. Had it done in a couple hours for a reasonable price, including inspecting other problems. Definitely will go back again if needed.UPDATE: Ive gone back multiple times now to fix all my gaskets. They fixed everything and threw in a set of winter wiper blades. They also check out a smell coming from the engine for free. Its the small things they did to make them a great, friendly place.

Comment: I take all my car problems here! They are always so friendly and willing to give me rides to and from a destination if I need one and willing to describe the problem in detail. They are reasonably priced and can always get you in on time! When I call for an appointment I usually get in within 3 days at the most, and they will have your car fixed THAT day! I have gotten my muffler fixed here along with changing my tires, repairing my engine coil, getting new brake pads, and so on. Not to mention, once they repair your car they usually leave a treat in your car :) I definitely recommend The Muffler Shop!

Comment: I took my car to the Ford dealership for an estimate of repair. They wanted $1,500 for a part plus 6 hours of labor. I wouldnt have gotten out of there for under $2,000. Furthermore, the Ford service dealership had my car for 3 days just for the estimate. I started to shop around because I wasnt happy with the customer service, and the prices they had to offer.Being a college student at Michigan Tech I wasnt sure which places to bring my vehicle to considering my lack of knowledge for the area. I decided to try The Muffler Shop, and I have had a wonderful experience. I brought my car in on the scheduled day and within a few hours they had an estimate on the repair bill. The made sure to do the repair the most cost effective way without compromising safety and reliability. They ended up finding more things wrong with my vehicle then the Ford Dealership did. And here is the kicker... They were able to fix my vehicle for a fraction of the cost... roughly $380. For a college kid, you cant beat it.Furthermore, the staff was also very pleasant, nice, and truthful. I will be referring them to everyone and move all my business to their shop.A++
