My car, a 2010 Subaru Impreza, had some obvious small-time issues that needed immediate fixing, along with some potential replacements of parts that I wanted to get some estimates on. They perfectly managed to fix the issues under time less than what they initially predicted, and the costs for these fixes (including some welding of the heat shields and fixing a couple of small leaks) were pretty reasonable. They also gave me extremely reasonable rates for the parts, and I am only holding on those for now since this is an old car and I do not want to invest too much at this point. Would certainly come back in future if necessary, and would definitely recommend for people in the Ann Arbor area.

Comment: Our family were on a 4.5-hr road trip to Boyne Mountain for skiing in a fully packed SUV. We started to recognize a burnt rubber smell after 1 hour into the trip. We called several auto shops, but none of them could take a quick look at the issue, until we called North Side Auto. After hearing our story, they were very compassionate and accommodating although they had other works ongoing. The head mechanic Henry was so knowledgeable and professional, quickly determined the smell came from the worn-out brakes. 3 hours later, we were back on the road after they replaced all brakes and on the 4 tires. I bought 4 cups of bubble tea and milk tea for them to show my appreciation. I also took a picture with Henry and the smiles on our faces showed the happy moment before we took off from the shop. I would recommend Northside Auto to anyone because of their excellent customer service and good job.

Comment: My car broke down on a business trip when I was heading back to Indiana and I was lucky enough to find Adam, Sam and the team at North Side to help me. They were able to quickly diagnose the problem (caliper ceased up) and then rearranged their schedule to prioritize working on my vehicle so that I could get back home that same day. On top of that, they noticed that one of my struts was leaking fluid and recommended that I have fixed as well. I really appreciate that they took a look at the everything instead of just the reason I had broken down. I had literally taken the car (2013 Altima) to my local Nissan dealer the week before to have the oil changed and their how every many point inspection and no one mentioned anything about my struts wearing out. Lastly, due to the circumstances, Adam went out of his way to give me a ride to a restaurant that had wi-fi where I could get some food and do some work while I was waiting on the repairs. Everyone was courteous, helpful and did their best to help me out when I was stranded. I am so grateful for everything and even more importantly, I was able to get home later that night. Thank you Adam! Highly recommend the team at North Side Auto for all of your car maintenance needs!

They didn’t overquote and overcharge as long as in my first experience with them. What I liked the most was that the mechanic was consulting seeing my car on the lift together. I had never had that chance in my previous experience with other auto shops. I’m gonna go to this shop again for my future maintenance.

The plate needed to be torched off. They took care of it quickly and efficiently, installing with bolts that shouldnt cause me a problem the next time I change my plates. One repair store recommended northside auto of Ann Arbor. They asked a bunch of questions and diagnose my problem and said they thought they could get me back on the road tonight and ordered a new alternator for me while I waited for a tow truck. They were super professional and really saved the day as I had no connections in the area and would need a hotel. Theyre fast, professional, fair, honest, and do great work. Sam is great to work with and Ive gotten a student discount.I was dissatisfied with my prior mechanic because I felt that the business model was to convince me that I needed all sorts of extra work that may or may not have been strictly necessary. Then one day they didnt have a tool needed for a repair so they recommended North Side Auto to me. Ive never gone back to the old guy.North Side Auto and Sam have been excellent. Ive told my friends about him and the good work he does. He stands behind his work too and ensures that the problem is fixed correctly and has redone a task for me without charge when it a defective part was used. I have never had to wait longer than a day to get my car back.On the whole, I couldnt recommend them more strongly. The price is good, the work is excellent, the owner is honest. What more could you ask for from a mechanic? I dont intend to go anywhere else as long as I live in Ann Arbor.
