I called the Midas closer to her and Mark helped ease the situation by talking me through it. Sometimes you just can feel the trust and sincerity seep through the cellphones without ever meeting someone. That was Mark! She got her car there and they got it right in. Comment: Took my very old car in for some belt issues and they replaced two belts quickly and for a fair price. They even had coloring books to help keep my 3 year old occupied. As I was driving away my check engine light popped on again (like I said, very old car, it was not the fault of any mechanic) and I took it right back and they read the code for me, said it looked like a sensor so they made sure to check the connection was working right and sent me back on my way. My car is running much better now and I appreciate the great customer service, will definitely use again :)

Comment: Great people with great skills! I had an exhaust leak up front and they put my car on the lift and had me come out and see for myself where it was and what parts were going to be needed. They ordered the part and it was hand delivered in 20 minutes. They put it on and there was still a leak somewhere else so they took the time to find it, repair it by welding, and didnt charge me any extra for the time to do that. I had to wait with the car and didnt have a ride but they said if it was going to be awhile that they would drive me home. It took about an hour in total and everyone was so nice and professional. Overall an absolutely wonderful experience!

The work was performed quickly and a very fair price. Unfortunately to replace a battery in a 2017 Dodge Journey, the drivers side wheel needs to be removed and access to the battery is then gained through the wheel well (thanks Dodge!). Once the battery was replaced, I watched the mechanic check the tire pressure in all 4 tires before lowering the hoist. He then checked the oil. Remarkable service!

Comment: ALWAYS get used cars inspected BEFORE buying them. Midas okemos saved me from making a huge mistake when it came to buying a used car. One day I brought in a 2017 Toyota Corolla that I was interested in buying from Spartan Toyota. On the surface, the car looked great: only 60,000 miles, a seeminlgy clean carfax, great reviews for the car model, and was thoroughly inspected by a reputable dealer. However, there were some red flags. First, the asking price was way too high ($1500 above the cars blue book price). Second, the carfax had an entry saying that the car was damaged - not that it had been in an accident, just damaged, and carfax did not specify the severity of the damage. You could also tell in the carfax that the previous owner immediately got rid of the car after this damage occurred. From the outside, it looked like there was some minor damage to the front bumper. I figure that it could be nothing serious, but there was no way for me to know for sure. The mechanics at Midas pop the hood and immediately see many parts that look suspiciously clean. Given the car was a few years old, it should be dirty under the hood. They concluded that the car was definitely in a serious accident then refurbished. They also found multiple other flaws that I dont even know how I missed: for example, the AC was not nearly cold enough and the key fob didnt even work properly! While Midas assured me that the car was still safe to drive, they recommended that I use the inspection results to negotiate a lower price AND THEN DROPPED THEIR CHARGE FOR THE INSPECTION! In the end, I decided to walk away from the deal as the lack of transparency from Spartan Toyota eroded my trust in the car.As a side note, Ive been bringing my old junker (a 2001 Nissan Altima) into Midas okemos for the past 3 years. The mechanics at Midas have always been great at finding a low price way for keeping my car going. They were also transparent with me when my car developed a power steering issue that would cost way more to fix than what the car was worth. They recommended I save my money for buying a newer car instead. Midas okemos has solidly earned my trust!

Mark alerted the local auto parts store of my need and within a couple of days I was back to Midas to complete the repair. I was in and out within half an hour and there was no charge for that. They appreciate faithful customers and over the years, while waiting for my car, Ive noticed that they always take the time to explain a repair job to those that come in. While waiting in the lobby I got to see Austin, the assistant manager, and Mike, one of the techs, helping another customer who had been given confusing info by another repair facility. The customer was clearly unfamiliar with cars, not knowing certain parts, etc. Im not a professional mechanic but I work on my own stuff as much as I can, and based on my own understanding of what the customer was going through, I felt that Austin and Mike gave good and reasonable guidance. In any case its nice to have that kind of reassurance that this business is staffed by good people, even if this particular interaction was not about me.As for my visit, they performed the alignment just fine, briefly reviewed the details with me, and had me on my way.

Comment: I don’t typically post reviews, but these guys are highly knowledgeable and do what’s right by you even if they aren’t getting your future business. I ran across them while on a road trip, and my only regret is I don’t live in MI to use them as my regular mechanic. They quickly identified a problem that was causing my car to jerk all over the road (as well as a noise issue that’s been plaguing us for years, to which other shops have shrugged and said “some cars might just be noisier than others”). I stopped by at the end of the day on Saturday just before they closed - not enough time to do anything major before they open again on Monday. Waiting until Monday wasn’t an option for me. Being unable to replace the loose part required (or the noisy part), they still took their time to secure it the best they could, which reduced the jerking by 99%, making it safe for me to finish my trip. They lowered my car from the lift, gave me exact details on all the work I needed done to fix the issue, pointed out how my previous shop did things improperly that put me in this situation in the first place, and sent me on my way, having done the best they could (short of replacing the parts). Despite spending over an hour investigating, diagnosing and fixing up my car, they refused to take any payment. It’s unfortunate that the hundreds/thousands I’m going to have to pay to have another shop fix up these issues isn’t going to these guys, because they deserve every penny. They did arm with me the knowledge (and evidence) I need to take it to my current shop and point out their errors.. and then I’m going to find a new local shop. Having moved several times in the past decade, Midas have been the most consistent shops in quality and craftsmanship.

They were working on my car in a freezing cold shop while I sat warmly in the waiting room, yet that didn’t stop them from having a smile on their face the whole time and being extremely kind.From what I saw, management needs to spend some money and fix some things, they shouldn’t have to walk around with puddles on the floor for example. A working heater is also essential. As a customer I was shocked their management let them work in those conditions, and yet you would never know with how positive their attitudes were throughout my entire experience.They also went above and beyond and filled up my tires with more air when they were done with my brakes.They really did a phenomenal job. My left rear turn signal went out and was looking to get it fixed, I talked to Charlie who fit me into his busy schedule right when I called. Comment: Let me just tell you the mess that my car is. I have a pretty old car and its reaching its end. I have went here many times for safety inspections, wheel alignment, and many other issues. I have no idea about cars and my car makes random noises all the time. They explain everything very clearly on how my car works and what parts I need to get. The first time I took my car here, I had to change my catalytic converter, I didnt even know what that was, they were kind enough to draw me pictures and explain how it works. Ive gotten my tie rod fixed here twice, they have changed my air conditioner, I even had a weird random bar by the hood of my car that needed pulled back. They were able to fix it all. I always go in with no idea with what is going on and they have always been able to identify the problem and fix it. Last time I went in, my brakes were squealing very loudly, and it turned out to be just fine, even advised me to not waste my money if its a part that is not necessary. They are very honest, polite, and very clear. As a college student, I can also afford their prices, its pretty fair. I would recommend this location to everyone!

After a great Hello from I believe manager Will doing 3 tasks at once and all with 100% excellence. He gets me set up with Juan who greets me well with a nice firm first bump (cant shake hands with Covid). I gave him my key and while Juan investigated my car, I watched a nice Old Western movie that my grandfather has had me watch before which was very nice. Then Juan gave me the rundown in a well professional manner and said that although the parts needed to be delivered, they could get it done tomorrow, which sounds amazing granted they havent even ordered parts yet and it was about 1.15 hours till closing. I asked a question about my dropping off the car early in the morning because I had school, and guess what?! I was offered to be driven to school after I dropped off the car! Definitely beats going on the bus navigating. And that Tuesday morning, I dropped off the car, with Will remembering who I am when I walked in and Juan going above and beyond. On top of driving me DIRECTLY to my school destination, he even spotted to let me know about some things in my car that I should be concerned about. Legend. Then after I got back, the car was nice and ready for me. I believe Mark checked me out, had me out in a split and didnt hesitate at all in giving me instructions to finish out. All in all, they had great service, and an amazing customer service. Every customer I saw each of the guys I mentioned made each customer have a laugh or smile.

Comment: I first stopped at AutoZone to see if there was something wrong with my battery as Ive been having electrical issues with my 2015 Chevy Cruze (Dash turning on and off, eventually leading to power steering turning on and off) AZ told me there was nothing wrong with my battery itself,  and then sent me down to Midas to see if they could help and I was greeted by Alex. Alex was warm and friendly. I told him the reason I was so anxious was because someone in my family passed away, and I needed to make a trip down for their funeral and was concerned about the car. Alex decided he would diagnose the car today for me even though they were booked (and they were, 4 or 5 people came in while I was there) although they were unable to pull any fault codes for my car, they took it for a test drive and cleaned the negative battery cable and grounded it, etc. Hopefully this will fix my problem, but if it doesnt I will not forget the level of service I received. Working retail for close to a decade, I understand how challenging it is to balance existing orders and walk in orders and I was very appreciative that he took the time to assist me when he did not have to.

Alex and Mark were amazing and actually tried to figure out why the same part on my car kept breaking. I sat in the building for a few hours waiting for my ride and they kept me company and were super welcoming! 10/10 would recommend this place even if you had to drive a little farther its worth it!

Comment: When I called Midas looking to get in last minute due to a flat tire a day before a trip, Alex was quick to help! Not only did he get me in that day, he took the time to see if they could fix the tire by plugging it before having to get a whole new tire. Unfortunately plugging it was not an option, but Alex was able to get a new tire on my car and I did not have to wait for them to order one! From the time he took my car into the shop to the time he got it out, was under a half an hour. The service was fantastic!!

Comment: Absolutely satisfied with my experience at Midas! I brought my old beater that I just purchased in because it was making a grinding noise. They were able to get me in same day. Turns out it had a number of issues, brakes being the biggest one. Their initial estimate was high, because they were going to fix everything. I explained that I only purchased this car to get me through the next couple months, and only want what is absolutely needed immediately. They worked with me to figure out what was in my price range, and I just picked my car up and it drives amazing now! Such a wonderful staff as well. And they have coffee in the lobby while you wait. I will absolutely use Midas in the future (although I hope not in the near future, lol)

Comment: I am so late to writing a review, but I definitely wanted to share my wonderful experiences at Midas. I had an old beat up LeSabre that needed a hub assembly replaced. It was the Thursday before Memorial Day weekend and everyone was booked. Midas was the only one that said they could even get me in to look at it. I’m always leery of taking my vehicle in anywhere. I’m a single woman that hardly knows anyone in the area as I’m not from here. Mark and his team made me feel more than comfortable. Even after calling my regular mechanic back home to ask what he thought of the quote it was on par with what he would have charged me. More than fair! I didn’t for a second feel taken advantage of. Not only that but they squeezed me in early Friday morning (of Memorial Day weekend which is unheard of) so that I could still get to work through the weekend. Juan did an excellent job and I was very grateful. I took my car back on June 10th to have the brakes done and they were very honest in telling me my old beast wasn’t worth the additional work I needed done. Fantastic customer service, honest, fair. I will most definitely be returning with my new (to me) vehicle for any future work and maintenance I need done. I encourage any other single women with no one to really rely on to go there if you want to be treated fairly. It can be frustrating going to other places and feeling like they will nickel and dime you for everything because they don’t think you know any better. Not here. I have never felt more comfortable or at ease anywhere else than my regular family mechanic. This team is spectacular! Thank you all for all that you do!

Comment: We had our car towed here after an emergency, and they took it in without hesitation even though they were booked. The staff were beyond friendly and understanding, and their knowledge on our particular car (a VW) was incredible. They made sure to check with us before every repair so we werent hit with strange charges, they fixed our car with incredible efficiency, and their prices were very reasonable for the work they did. I have never received this level and quality of care from any auto shop Ive visited. Fantastic!

Comment: QUICK AND EFFICIENT, & AMAZING CUSTOMER SERVICE!! My experience with this place was nothing less than PHENOMENAL from start to finish. I cannot express my gratitude enough. My Jeep was due for an oil change but also had a weird rattling sound when I drive, so I brought it in. The guys who work here are so personable and nice, the entire time in the waiting room was nothing but good vibes and laughs. I appreciated that so much because I feel like mechanics are usually a bit cranky or standoffish from my previous experiences. The man I spoke to on the phone when scheduling a time to come in (Ryan) was so kind and helpful. When I came in this morning, one of the gentlemen working (named Juan I believe) actually went on a drive with me to listen for the rattling sound. When we got back, he offered me pumpkin bread and coffee while I wait. SUPER NICE! They took the take the time to thoroughly inspect my car and also removed a nail and patched a hole in my back tire.As just a Michigan State student, I dont have any family members or know any mechanics around, and as a girl who knows nothing about cars, I worry about shops taking advantage of that (its happened before). I was very nervous to bring my car to an unfamiliar place but coming here was undoubtedly a great choice. They took the time to explain everything to me and made me feel very comfortable with the entire experience. Not only that, but they were fast at getting everything done. I appreciate this place so much and will be taking my car here for any and all future needs.

I’ve been going to see Mark there for months now and he’s been nothing but kind and honest with me. These people aren’t out to get all your money - they truly want to HELP. Which is a huge relief being a woman trying to find a helpful honest company for my vehicle. Also, I have to mention how incredibly sweet and nice their office manager, Jaclyn, is! She’s the most kind hearted person I’ve worked with in cars, most other places the managers don’t care to talk to their clients - however Jaclyn and I had conversations to pass the time. When I went in to pick up my car and pay the store manager (Robert) gave me some great information and even knocked a couple dollars off of my final cost! Great service and great people! Comment: I am so impressed with the level of customer service that I experienced here at Midas. I initially went in to check my tires and see why they have been acting up. Robert was completely honest with me when he could have profitted from me. Instead he told me to hang on to the tires as they are still good and bring them back in if I ever had issues again. As I was getting ready to leave, Robert rushed to me and told me that my brake lights are not working and that he will take a look at them. He replaced the brake lights, checked my exhaust and brakes, and made sure I was good to go back on the road for the meantime. I am just glad that I made the decision to stop by Midas. Comment: I was totally surprised today when I called Robert the manager to explain that my car wouldnt start. I asked if I had it towed to Midas would he be able to fit me in. He responded where are you located and I told him and it was 10 miles away. He said let me come and see if I can get your car started and save you the towing charge. He arrived in about a half hour. He bought with him a battery tester and a tool chest. He checked everything and then got in and tried to start the car and he started it. I asked him what he did and he said I turned the steering wheel and key at the same time it was a security issue.So not only did he save me a $100. towing fee but started my car. I dont know of any other place in town that would go over and above and give this type of service. This place gives the most expert service and I would highly recommend them. Their expert mechanics find out the problem with your car.If your waiting Robert the Manager takes you back to your car and shows you what the problem is. Then he takes you back up front and looks up on the computer what it will cost to make the neccessary repairs.I also discovered on my last visitthat he has the best prices ontires and the lowest price in town on a complete oil change!repair

Comment: Robert was AMAZING!!!. For starters their prices are amazing, they are quick and friendly. They have the best customer service I have ever experienced in my life. Im a young college student that doesnt know much about cars but Robert took the time out to throughly explain everything to me. Regardless of the price I Spent, I left the shop feeling amazing, and like my car was well taken care of. I will go to Midas for all my car needs. Some mechanic shops are sketchy and you just feel like they will tell you anything to get your money, but not here. They will tell you the issues of your car and versus trying to pressure you to get a sell they will highlight only the most important services that need to be done immediately versus telling you your going to need everything done today even though you dont. I came into the shop thinking I needed break pads because I was told from another shop that I did, turns out when they test drove my car and did and inspection, my brakes were at 50% so they gave me a estimate of when I should come back. They not only perform work on your car, but they educate you during the process, hands down amazing service.

Without an appointment I just walked over with a simple question if they can help with my issue, assuming i would need to make an appointment and come back for its resolution. Not the case, Robert and Charlie immediately jumped into action. They fixed my issue immediately right then and there and got me on my way in under an hour. In comparison i called one other mechanics shop that told me id need to drop off my car and leave it for a day and pay an hourly rate with no guarantee of a solution. Comment: I had to bring my vehicle in to replace my rotors/brake pads. A worker there by the name of Robert helped me out tremendously with getting me the best rates and making sure I was getting the proper repairs that needed to be done and not replacing something that didnt need to be replaced at that time. He explained to me why all of them needed to be replaced and answered every single question I had. I also observed him helping other customers out and he was very caring, understanding, and super friendly to everyone who walked through the door. Even when it was very busy in the lobby he was still able to handle everything he was doing and everyone he needed to help out in a timely manner and with a positive attitude. Comment: Ive always had a great experience here! Very knowledgeable and professional. Yes they do recommend preventative maintenance... its part of a FREE service they provide. For $21.99 they do a oil and filter change, safety inspection, tire rotation, test your battery, check all your fluids and they print out the manufacturers maintenance requirements for your mileage interval. They give you the info and their advice with prices. There are no pressure sales... they simply give you the knowledge and prices, you make the choice. If they give you a big estimate for your car its probably means you need it and they actually took the time to do it for FREE for you! I will always have my service done here. I also love the new management, the warranties are now nationwide instead of just local. A newer guy there named Chris has outstanding customer service skills... you wont be disappointed.
