Comment: This is the only place I take my vehicles to within the Holland area. These guys are helpful, informational, honest (which I can’t say that about many places), and they won’t price gouge you.Many times in the past, I’ve paid for an expensive repair with other places just to find out later that the original issue wasn’t repaired correctly or end up with some new mysterious issues that weren’t even on the radar before the so-called repair. I’ve totally been taken advantage of in the past so there’s only a couple of places that I’ll bring my vehicles to (Maplewood and the other place is in Grand Rapids and is woman-owned).The guys here at Maplewood make you feel seen, heard and understood. I love that I can ask for an “estimated ballpark” on a specific repair and they actually will provide the info that they can, which is extremely helpful when trying to budget or prepare yourself for a potential big hit to your wallet. I’ve also found that when comparing their quotes to others (on many repairs), their prices come out being reasonable and it’s nice to be able to call and get transparency. I don’t know how many other places I’ve called that won’t even entertain the thought of giving you any kind of ballpark estimate on the phone and most will usually tell you that they can’t tell you anything at all until you bring your vehicle in. That’s a huge red flag to me.If you want good, honest service with a company that’s transparent and hears your concerns and validates you, this is the place that you want to bring your vehicles to.

The guys in back that worked on my car have always been knowledgeable and give my car great service. I use them exclusively for my car issues.

When I explained that we were paying for a rental until our car was fixed, they said they would try to squeeze it in ASAP. It took a couple of days but they kept in contact and were genuinely trying to get it in soon. The price was reasonable and they were so kind and honest. Our friend recommended this place and we are very grateful for Maplewood Auto.

I needed my alternator replaced and thought based off my dash lights that I would need some break work done. Comment: I took my Subaru in for a break job and not only did they fix my breaks but the technician correctly identified a subtle noise that I had been hearing from somewhere in my drivetrain. It turned out to be an axle bearing and they called (with absolutely no pressure) to ask if I wanted to get it fixed too. I agreed and now my Subaru drives (and sounds) like it was new.Very impressive service and now they have a new regular customer!

Comment: If you have the money to pay for unexpected repairs, this place is fine. I really like the customer service workers that this shop employs, everybody is very nice and thorough. However, I have to leave a 2 star review due to the fact that twice now i have brought them my car for service to be done and something completely out of the ordinary went wrong. The first time i understood, maybe it was just a huge coincidence. But after my most recent visit (alignment and transmission service) my car magically wont start. Keep in mind i have owned my car for two years and i have NEVER had an issue with it not starting. I feel like im being taken advantage of. I will not be going back. Its a shame too because i really like the shop and have been getting my oil changes here ever since i purchased my car. Cant trust them any longer.EDIT: the owner of the company has fully addressed the problems I had with my service and I commend him for that. I left here with a bad taste in my mouth and he really seemed to care and he more than made things right. At first I said I would not return, but with customer service like this, I think I may have to reconsider. Thank you Tommy for taking care of me.

Our car went in for diagnostic work for check engine light on our Acadia and I believe they found the issue unfortunately the light came back on and is still on and I have notified them of the update I believe they will address the issue and get it fixed as I see their possible diagnosis going in the right direction. We will be taken it back here soon.I searched for a place like this to take out vehicles to and so far I am pleased as the GMC dealership wanted to charge me over $2,000 to replace parts and that is not including labor which based on Maplewoods findings would not would fix our car... that would of been a waste of money.Thank you that there is still shops around with great morals, honesty and faith based!

Comment: I have been using Maplewood Auto since a friend referred me about five years ago. I drive hybrid vehicles exclusively and they have been amazing to work with! As a single woman with no car expertise, I always feel respected and valued. They take time to educate me and have always given me honest advice about priorities, costs, and safety needs. The very first time I used them, I couldnt pick up my car in time to pay them and they trusted me to return at a later date to pay! That kind of trust is unheard of in the car repair business! And their prices are great values! Very great practices during Covid to keep their employees and clients safe. Theyve helped me make decisions and have kept my 15 year old Prius running wonderfully even with 230,000 miles; I believe theyll keep it going to many more! Ive tried several other repair shops in Holland over the past 30 years, but Ill never go anywhere but Maplewood now. I cant tell you how strongly I recommend them.

Comment: My car recently produced a P0016 error and started idling loudly. Suspecting a issue with the timing belt, I set out calling local mechanics to see what the repairs would cost me. Most were unwilling to give me any estimate at all until I brought it to them and paid to have them look at it (which I understand, they dont want people getting upset about the price not matching up later). Some places were more helpful than others, but Maplewood Auto really stood above the rest. Bob was very friendly and helpful over the phone. He listened to my description and suspicions about the problem and went out of his way to get me a general estimate (that ended up being quite accurate). Impressed, I decided to go with Maplewood.Since I didnt want to risk damaging the engine driving it to them, Maplewood recommended West Michigan Towing to me, which worked out well and I was pleased with their price. The repairs were finished on time and my car is running great. I felt Maplewoods price was very fair, and they even helped me with a misunderstanding I had with my power windows, free of charge. Maplewood was also very responsible in regards to the current social distancing rules in effect.I highly recommend their services. Thanks again guys!

Comment: Another great job !! Thanks guys !! As always I trust your judgement. On April 1st we had you service out granddaughters car for a noisy serpentine belt and lub job. She attends GVSU and I had drive down for the appt. Saying to her you people honest and trustworthy. Theyll do the job right.We expected to pay well over $100. and the bill was less than $30. for a lub job and cleaning the noisy belt. They did mention to her, if that doesnt last youll need a new belt.Again, Thanks for your Honesty !!Bob Prins

They took me right in that evening and since I didn’t have a ride home, they even stayed after hours until my ride could pick me up from the shop. They always check first before doing work, give accurate estimates, and, if money is tight, give you options. I just spent $1,000 there and felt good about it (!) because they took care of so many things (tires, muffler, brakes, oil change). My 6-year-old car is driving like new again.

They let me know what needs to be done now, and what can wait a little longer to help the wallet. I used to double check their quotes/estimates but it was a waste of time. Theyre very upfront.COMMUNICATIVE: They call and let you know whats happening each step of the way if you ask them to. They give you accurate estimates and let you know when you can expect to have your car back.FRIENDLY: The staff are all incredibly kind. They have selected their front desk personnel with the same care they select their mechanics and I always feel comfortable asking questions.Do note--theyre very busy due to the great business they run, so plan ahead when possible!

Comment: I thought it was a great place. I had been there for a repair on a different car and the price was fair. But my recent visit, I went in for a problem I was having with my door not opening from the outside but would open from the inside the vehicle. No new parts were needed for the repair because apparently the latch wasnt pulling a cable, therefore making the door unable to open from the outside. They reattached the cable and made sure it wouldnt happen again. My bill? Nearly $200. ($168 to be exact). I thought that was way too much for taking a door panel off and doing the job that was done. I love their honesty for telling me I didnt need any new parts for my car and was generous enough to check my oil, battery, ect. But really? $168 for labor seems really steep for that kind of job.
