Comment: I went to Johnsons Automotive after visiting several local garages, including a Ford dealership, because my Ford Escape was doing some really crazy, unpredictable things. I was over the moon happy with Johnsons before they even worked on my car, simply because I felt like they were taking my concerns seriously, the other garages made me feel like they were just blowing me off, like I was just a crazy old lady that was making up these stories about the weird things my car was doing.Johnsons were thorough and honest, walked me through everything they were doing. In the end, they were open and honest, they said, they didnt know if they had fixed it, but didnt seem to be any more issues with it. It has been a week now, and my car is working perfect, as it did before all the strange issues started. I am just elated to have somebody validate my concerns and address the issues. Comment: My 2014 Equinox had the wiper motor go out. Johnson’s not only fixed the problem, they were able to save the part. A new motor was $200. They fixed it for the cost of labor. Weeks later I had it happen again. Johnson’s stood by their work and fixed it for free. Both times I was out in under 90 minutes. That’s no guarantee. But they do take your time seriously. The staff at the counter are friendly and professional. I definitely recommend them.

Comment: I botched my catalytic converter and O2 sensors replacement on my Subaru. So I had it towed to Johnson’s Automotive on a Monday and they had the problem diagnosed and fixed by Wednesday!! The vacuum pump for the power brakes seized and sheared a bolt on the camshaft. It could have been bad, but they were able to extract the broken bolt and get me on the road.

Comment: I decided to choose this place because it had very good reviewing, claiming there was lower prices versus other shops and the reviews and price claims were correct. I dropped my car off to get muffler repair and figure out why it was smoking, a few hours later I got a call telling me my car was ready to be worked on and was quoted a very fair price for the parts and labor, and by the end of the day my car was done being worked on and was ready to be picked up. The mechanics here are very good at what they do and get the work finished up swiftly and correctly.

We had only tried one other repair shop in the area and it wasnt working out so we found Johnsons and decided to give them a try. I am SO thankful that we did! From start to finish, the process was seamless.Staff was always very kind and understanding of our financial limitations, they gave me a referral for an affordable tow in the area that provided excellent customer service as well. Johnsons worked with us to make sure our vehicle was running smoothly but didnt push any repairs or services that we were not able to afford at the time. Everyone was communicative, the service was quick and best of all, unlike the other shop we had been going to, we never had to go back because things were repaired correctly the first time! Its been a few months and my car is still running great. I was very impressed with everything they did for us. Were obviously not looking forward to the next time one of our cars needs to be fixed, but when that time comes, without a doubt I am calling Johnsons!

We had an issue with our hydraulic steering system on a road trip from Southern MI to Northern MI in the late afternoon. Comment: I have dealt with an extremely stressful situation. Someone hit my parked car in Colorado and then my friend here in Michigan fractured her spine. As soon as I picked up my car I came straight to Michigan and six hours on the road my car broke down going 70mph. Needless to say, bad situation. I called multiple repair shops to let them know my situation and get a quote but the soonest they’d be able to fit me in is late December or next year which financially wouldn’t work for me.I called Johnson’s Automotive Repair and spoke with Greg. Greg helped me navigate through my car’s issues, treating me with the upmost respect. He was able to fit my car in for inspection the next day. They charged me a fair price for the inspection and let me leave my car on the lot while I figured out a towing situation. Very kind people. I would highly recommend their services.

Comment: I usually only go here or Pennzoil for issues with my car. I’ve only had electrical stuff done here and they are really good and it’s affordable. Only costed $196 to get it fixed. Versus Belle Tire which was $350 if i got it done that day, or $500 if i didn’t get it done that day because it was in a hard spot. I believe it’s Adam and Mike that work up front and they are both very nice. Hopefully no more electrical issues with my car. I will definitely come back here when I need to get my car fixed. I’m hoping to sell my car soon but if I decided to keep it, will definitely be back to get my car fixed since there’s a lot of issues.

Comment: I had a driveshaft put in by them about a year ago and this summer the carrier barring spelling may be wrong went out in it I called them to let them know that another mechanic told me the issue they let me know it was under warranty through them. They called the place for the part, that place had to call around to find the part eventually they did and in a couple days they fixed my issue under the warranty and I didnt have to come out of pocket for it a penny!! This was all after I had paid for my breaks to be done twice by others because they kept telling me it was my breaks squealing and it wasnt the whole time. I bought a Remanufactured transmission and had Johnsons install it. Install cost was reasonable, fit the job in fairly quickly, assisted well with getting the core returned to the Re-Manufacturer. Trans shifts great... driving home. Itd be a while before any install problems could/would crop up, but honestly I am Not Expecting any of those hiccups. The business has great reviews... and those dont *Just Happen*. When the van broke down 2 hours from home... my wife panic called not knowing what to do... I saw the good reviews, Johnsons lined us up with a great tow (a preferred tow business), rolled the tow into the bill, no immediate out of pocket... and got the job done. ***Relief*** after Chaos. :-) Thanks.

Comment: Johnsons has once again exceed expectations when servicing a vehicle of mine.It was probably the busiest week of the year for big rapids, graduation week. My car was in a very poor condition. The brakes were mostly gone. After dropping off my car I received a call from one of the technicians who very calmly explained the entire situation he was looking at. He gave me an entire break down of the procedures needing to be done. He also broke apart the estimate into each individual procedure that could be done independent of each other. This was extremely helpful because I was able to prioritize the most important repairs my car needed. I ended up having my rear brake pads, rotors and calipers replaced. Johnsons was able to fit me in to their already booked schedule during the busiest week of the year, finished on time if not early, and treated me with respect and patience. I intend to return for future repairs.

Comment: I was told the problem was The fuel pump. They changed it out and that did not fix the problem. So they told me they were gonna work on it that night because They think it was the line that went into the gas tank it could’ve been something that came apart. They never started working on it till the following Monday. I didn’t like the fact that I had made an appointment to have my truck worked on they stopped working on it and worked on somebody else’s vehicle before mine was done. I was told good things about this place but that did not fit into my criteria as being a professional business you don’t stop working on somebody’s vehicle till it’s done. On that Friday I thought they were working on it they never called me.I was getting worried that something must really be wrong I called them and that’s when I found out that they had never even worked on it that day that they moved to somebody else’s vehicle.

That to me gained their respect, right out of the gate. When they called to talk to me about something else that needed to be fixed they were sweet about it and explained everything in details I understood.The repair work has been amazing I have Air conditioning again and I dont have to worry about breaking down! The diagnosis news was bad news (engine) but Mike provided a no pressure itemized approach. One day I cant remember what they fixed but somehow the mechanic put a small puncture into my transmission fluid line. It was very small hole but it caused a slow leak. Not knowing that it was leaking I drove it 40 minutes home to Evart. I saw a trail once I got home and when I tried driving the car it wouldnt shift into gear. This was a Friday night. I luckily got them before they closed, they wanted me to drive it back over there but I said I couldnt because of all the fluid. I had no idea yet what kind of fluid it even was. Once Lee became aware about 8 PM he drove to Evart with his kids sleeping in his truck and fixed my car for me. I worked at a place that made it a inconvenience to take my vehicle to him but now that it again works out that I can take my vehicles to Johnsons. Comment: My wife and I were coming home from a little getaway and it was pouring rain on the highway when our windshield wipers suddenly quit working. It was 1 pm and we knew were werent too far from Big Rapids and there is a Chevrolet dealer there. I immediately called the dealer to explain our dilemma and they said, we cant help you today. Not knowing what else to do next, we drove to the first Big Rapids exit and almost immediately saw JR Customs and Collision. I spoke with the secretary there and although they dont do that type of work, they suggested Johnsons Automotive and even called them. Johnsons said to bring the car right over. We did and, incredibly there was another family there already with the exact same problem with the exact same car! So, Johnsons took immediately took both vehicles back at the same time, analyzed them and found we both needed the same thing; a new wiper transmission assembly. Obviously they didnt have these parts in stock but they found them somewhere else in town (likely the dealer!) and got them over to the shop quickly. They then proceeded to fix both cars on the spot. Lastly, when they were pulling our car back around to the front, they noticed a noise in our tire and brought it back again. They discovered that while we were driving alongside the highway in the pouring rain without windshield wipers, we had run over a nail. They fixed that too! I cant say enough good about this place and would trust these folks with my life. They were courteous, helpful and efficient, not to mention they had a very nice and clean waiting area with a an equally nice bathroom for customers a well as free coffee too. Im not from Big Rapids, but if I were, I would go to Johnsons every single time. Wish they were located in our town! Thanks so much guys! A couple places left me feeling skeptical over the phone that popped up on a google search. One business was referred to me by some locals, the business told me they would look at it but didn’t seem interested or would even look at my truck in a months time. So my next call was to Johnson’s. I talked to mike on the phone and he seemed very willing to help me out with my problem. Mike was also able to get me scheduled for the next day after I called. Comment: I went to ORileys auto parts first because my check engine light was on, and they have free inspections for check engine lights. Their technology said that I had a bad O2 sensor. So that is why I originally went to Johnsons Auto, because I thought I needed an O2 sensor replaced. I made an appointment for that, and when I came to my appointment, they advised me to do a diagnosis check instead, because there could be more wrong. And Im so glad they did. Because apparently my O2 sensor was fine. Instead my fuel lines were rusted out. They said they were really booked, but thankfully squeezed me in to get my lines replaced. They also said that it would take two days to order parts and actually replace my lines. But it only took one day! Im so thankful that my car is up and running again!

However, since I own a 2004 car with lots of miles, I hesitated to actually get my car fixed; I had just put $359.00 into it in February of this year, and I am still undecided whether to go forward with another $470. bill or not. This was no problem for Johnsons; who very professionally released the car back to me with a very reasonable fee if $40.00. They inspected the car and put 3 quarts of transmission oil in it; a good value for the money spent.

Comment: As cliche as it ALL sounds, Johnsons made me feel like family or, at the very least, a valuable friend. They are:TRUSTWORTHY- this is as important as being skilled. ACCOMMODATING - due to my work schedule, Lee provided an estimate over the phone, a loaner vehicle, and special pick up/drop off arrangements. PATIENT- answered my many questions, in great detail, throughout the repair process. PROFESSIONAL- Adam has great communication skills. QUICK-repairs were completed within promised timeframe. SAFE- they took measures to assure a safe environment for drop off and pick up. HONEST- there were a couple of adjustments to the price; however, I was notified appropriately and given time and control over how to proceed. Before installing the battery, Bill called me to tell me how much it would cost and also did some other testing. I did not have to wait long for the battery to be installed and because I had no way to pick up my car, Bill came to my home and picked me up. Also, the cost was very reasonable. Highly recommend.

Comment: Our daughter is a student at Ferris and could not get her car door to close this morning. We live in Rockford and tried talking her through it. She just couldnt get it to close. We googled car mechanics in Big Rapids and ended up having it towed to Johnsons. So happy we did! When it arrived there, of course the door closed. Bill lubed up all the door mechanisms and tested the door various times. He even took the car for a test drive to make sure it was in good working order for her. All of this for no charge! He even offered to help with getting her car back to her. As a parent with a student in another town, it is so reassuring to know we have a great place to call on if needed! It was a nice this is other things we found, call us if youd like us to get it fixed up for you. I moved away from Big Rapids a few months ago but I still bring my car to Johnson’s to do regular maintenance and any repairs.Last week I couldn’t get my 1997 Toyota started. I am not automobile literate- at all- so I always feel apprehensive when going into a dealership, automotive repair shop or even when getting my oil changed. These guys are nothing but trustworthy and VERY fairly priced. I had 4 tires and a couple of wheel bearings replaced. I live 90 minutes away, but go to school in Big Rapids, and will probably drive the 90 minutes even when Im done with school if my car needs to be serviced again.

Comment: I had an appointment today. Got there and they took me right in. Problem was my AC was not putting out as I thought it should. Rather than drive it 80 miles to the Kia Dealership I took it to Johnsons. The car is brand new and due to new technology in the air conditioning system, Johnsons could not perform the necessary maintenance BUT, the gentleman that helped me found two local businesses (competitors) that he called and said they could do the work. Until now, I have never seen a business recommend a competitor and I have been driving for nearly 60 years. I would give them 10 STARS if possible.

Being from out of town, I was itching to get back home as soon as I could. Price wise, they are comparable with other repair shops in the area. But I will always chose them over anyone else because of their great staff, very clean shop, and the extra services they gladly offer (like picking up/dropping off from home or work).Last year, I needed a transmission rebuild and brought my car to them because they have a person who specializes in transmissions. Bring it over; well get you running and to your destination today. Well, they inspected, found a loose wire on my starter, and had me OTD in 40 minutes. Comment: I had a problem with my Dodge Journey intermittently hesitating or missing there was no trouble light appearing. I took it to the local Chrysler dealer who did an electronic scan and could not find anything. They charged me around $50.00 bucks and said if the warning lights did not come on they couldnt tell what was wrong. I asked about a road test and they said it would be a waste of money and refused to do it. My son recently had Johnsons work on his truck an was very happy with the price and the service and recommended I see them, I did and they had my van fixed and running great in just a couple of hours.
