Since we have driven over 10,000 miles! Went over over many 13,000 Mountain passes out west. Working fine. After 2 months and a magnificent trip we are returning home to PA. Comment: Battery started giving me problems 300+ miles from home, so I turned to Google and lo and behold, found Georges with all these great reviews. And Im proud to add my glowing review to the rest. I pulled up to see if I could even be helped today. Wasnt sure I was in the right place because the sign says Body Shop, but for a battery they didnt turn me away. Talked to Chris who got me right in and right out. We found a new trailer to buy then these nice people worked for over an hour to transfer the boat onto it and adjusted so many parts to make it fit, I couldn’t even keep track. Were from a suburb of Chicago and while vacationing in St Ignace on Labor Day weekend, our van had to be towed from Moran, MI to Georges due to a mechanical problem. Kudos to Danni, the 9-1-1 dispatcher who handled our roadside situation, and to Mike, the tow truck driver who rescued us and to Chris at the shop who diagnosed and repaired our van so quickly. 5 stars!!

They were very helpful and great to deal with they were able to order a new hitch and install it within two days and at a very reasonable price.We are extremely pleased with their work and honesty and as you know that combination is hard to find. Comment: On a late night trip, 15 miles from our destination and got a flat. We had a spare but couldnt get the flat tire off the truck. After our roadside service through the insurance company said they couldnt find anyone to help we contacted Georges well after midnight. Wesley was to us, removed AND THEN offered to repair the tire onsite. He had us back on the road in an hour. Travelling with kids, he saved the night and turned what could have been a very difficult / expensive night into a minor delay. WELL DONE!!

Not wanting to get stranded in the middle of the UP with car trouble and no cell service, they fit us in quickly to see if it was just new brakes I needed (which could wait until home) or it was something bigger. Within 90 minutes, they reported back and thankfully nothing broken so we were back on our way.

Comment: I highly recommend this place! We had a bit of a vacation nightmare.... Let me paint the picture a little bit.. . Over 5 hours from home.... 3 kids ages 7-15.... alternator went out in our Rav4.... power steering is coming and going... called 3 repair shops that were within 10 minutes of where we were and 2 of them said next week but this one said get over here and we will try! Chris was amazing! At first he wasnt able to get the part until the next day but he made another phone call and managed to get it there. He was also so kind that at one point when he didnt think they would get it he said he would get someone to drive us to a hotel which was more than generous! At this point our car wouldnt even start anymore. Chris who is no longer a mechanic even went into the garage and removed our old alternator himself so it would be ready when the new one arrived! He went above and beyond for us! Cars are expensive period but I dont feel like they took advantage of the situation we were in by overcharging us. We were stuck there for over 5 hours but everyone was super friendly and we even ended up buying their sweatshirts (ones like the workers were wearing) because we liked them so much. We will forever remember your kindness and would recommend this place to anyone! Because of this place we got to make it to our next destination and wake up to this! Thank you again! 😊

Comment: I would give 6 stars if I could! My family was on our way from Munising to Grand Rapids on a friday, and the alternator died around 3pm near St Ignace. We called Georges and they said they would take a look, but they close at 4:30. Typically this would have been a 3 hour job, and I would have been stuck in town until Monday. But Chris told me they would do their best to get it done, and they came through! We were back on the road by 4:30! Was told to call at 8:00am. Called first thing and by the time I was able to get to the shop, they had my alternator and were ready to put it in. Got me in and out quickly, thank you so much. Comment: The starter died in my car a couple years ago while staying in Epoufette. I asked around at all the businesses there and all four of them said Call Georges, so I did. A short time later a young man showed up with a flat bed and hauled us into Georges. They said they could not get the new starter until the next day. I had already booked a room at the motel we had used a few days before. I asked if they could give us a ride to the motel and a young lady working there volunteered to take us. On the way there I asked where I could buy beer and she said nowhere within walking distance, but she would go get me some. A few minutes later she showed up and would not take any extra for her efforts. The next day they called us and came and picked us up in our car and we went back to Georges to pay the bill. The towing bill was reasonable considering there was a long detour around the Cut River. The starter and labor were slightly less than I was charged a couple years before that in Midland.The next adventure with Georges was last summer when the steering wheel locked up and the key would not come out while I was parked at the same motel. I called Georges to come save me again and he said no, he wouldnt have to. He proceeded to tell me the secret to getting the steering wheel to break free. There was no charge for that.I highly recommend Georges for any repair you need. Their prices are more than fair and their service is way beyond your expectations!

Comment: George’s helped our family when we were in need and got us back on the road with great service snd fair price. On Friday afternoon the engine belt smoked and squealed on our car at a stop just after the bridge heading north to the UP for a short weekend visit and far from our home. Lance took our car in right away and his team found the water pump bearing was the problem, but the part wasn’t available until Saturday and they were not open on Saturday. Lance offered and Mechanic-Tim volunteered to pick up the part on Saturday morning and come in to work on our car. It was a tough job to replace the water pump and belt on a Ford 3.5L Ecoboost. Lance even picked me up at the hotel in our car. George’s saved our trip and got us back on the road by noon Saturday. Amazingly kind people! I would do all of my automotive repairs with George’s! We were able to get towed and fuel tank flushed same day. They have an amazing team of people that helped my day go from awful to hopeful. My car experienced engine failure while heading to a business meeting and I was worried and stressed because it would need to be towed the 120 miles back to my hometown (due to warranty work needing to be performed by a specific shop). The staff were kind and professional, which made a stressful situation much better. Because it would be a lengthy tow trip I had to wait a while for a driver to become available. While sitting in their clean and comfy waiting area, I observed many interactions between Georges Auto Body staff and customers and every situation was handled well. I was impressed that all employees were personable and seemed to enjoy being there despite it being extremely busy. This is definitely a place you can trust. Thanks again for your help!

Comment: My friend and I had just returned to the truck in St Ignace froma 2 day snowmobiling trip. It was extremely cold (-2 degrees F), and my 2002 Duramax popped the starter in the parking lot of the park and ride in St Ignace. I heard of Georges from a local referral, but with it being Sunday, I wasnt expecting a whole lot. They showed up and tried to start the vehicle, which was a no-go, and took the truck back to their shop right there on the spot. This was 4pm on a Sunday, so I got a room for the night. The next morning (Monday at 8am), they got right on it, located and installed a starter, charged the batteries, and we were back on the road home by 11am. They were professional, courteous, and actually communicated with me. For all the work and hauling around, the price was reasonable. They even picked me up from the hotel and dropped me off at the shop when the truck was ready. I highly recommend them if you get in a bind in the Eastern UP. Thanks Lance, I appreciate the help!!

Comment: Dont have enough words of praise and gratitude in my vocabulary to attest to the caliber of folks that are running Georges Body Shop. I was traveling via camper van through the UP approaching the Mackinac Bridge when a heavy storm rolled in right as my alternator gave out. Called all other shops in the area (including a Ford dealership) and everyone said they couldnt get to me until Monday or Tuesday of the following week; it was Friday. Also called the auto parts stores in the area and none seemed to have the alternator I needed, as I was to the point where I was going to do the swap myself on the side of the road in the rain.Finally, I discovered Georges Body Shop. My hopes were not high, but I gave them a call and to my surprise Lance said they could work me in and get me on my way despite having packed bays themselves. Sure enough, they had me in and out in just a few hours. I was able to get to the campground Id booked in Michigan before sunset and the alternator has held strong for many, many miles since. Appreciate the quick help from Lance and his crew, and Id recommend them to anyone. Great people, great service.

We pulled over and found oil sprayed all over the engine and we knew we were in trouble. They diagnosed our car’s problem within minutes (the old-fashioned way, by listening and poking) and clearly explained what was needed.But where they really went above and beyond was when the part—which had to be ordered from outside this small town—didn’t arrive the next day (despite the staff’s heroic effort to track down the FedEx driver and offer to meet him to intercept the part).That’s when they did something we never expected: called a dealer downstate, told them to hold the part, flipped us the keys to one of their cars and gave us clear directions on a rather tricky route.We greeted them with the part as they opened the next day and in about 45 minutes, we were back on the road.Nobody enjoys a breakdown far from home, but we’ll be telling the story of our repair at George’s Auto Body for a LONG time.

As we had to get home for work they let us leave our RV and picked it up without us being there.They found that my flexplate had broke and needed to be replaced. After reaching out to State Farm and getting the run around, we opted to nurse it as much as we could without getting it too Hot. After 3 hours we made it to the outskirts of St. Ignace @ 745am. I reached out to Georges Auto Shop, as they provided both towing and repair. After speaking with Lance, he assured me that he would be right over with a flatbead to pick us up. I explained that I was traveling with my elderly father and my dog. He assured me that it would not be a problem! Lance showed up within minutes, loaded up my Jeep, and told us to load up. He was very accommodating to all of us, including my dog! After spending 8 hours at his shop waiting for parts to be delivered, installed, etc., we were on our way!I could not be more impressed as I watched the team in action. Across the board, outstanding customer service! It was evident that they had a great clientele. We decided we would have to tow the car home and looked for a Uhaul. Our search brought us to Georges. They had no trucks available but went out of their way to find us one about 50 miles away, even giving us a ride there. We came back with the Uhaul to find that the mechanic at Georges looked at our car and thought he could have it repaired Fri AM. Fri morning came and our car was drivable once again. They took the time to even straighten things out with Uhaul since we didnt take the truck as far as we originally thought we would. Pricing was more than fair / honest / to very good - he could have taken advantage of us or charged us for (2) vehicle pick-ups ( as per AAA they said we would have to pay for 2 vehicles) but only charged us for the one.So nice to have a good honest experience when you are stranded and vulnerable. Highly recommended.

They were very understanding of our situation (that we were on our way home) and were great at communicating what was wrong. Comment: Unbelievable service. I had left our family vacation early with our dog and after a couple of hours driving I blew a tire. We were in the middle of nowhere and I had no choice but to change the tire myself. When I finally got the tire off and grabbed the temporary spare I discovered it to was flat. I called Ford Roadside Assistance and they contacted Georges Body Shop. About 45 minutes later Lance showed up with a compressed air tank. After filling my spare we learned that the valve stem was bad and it would not hold air. Lance called his shop and had a truck come out to tow us and then left to tend to another traveler in distress. About a half an hour later Joey came to tow us driving a flat bed with a pickup on the back. After backing up to hook us up to tow behind he realized a necessary part was missing and he could not hook us up. He called Lance who came back and picked up me and my dog and took us back to his shop. My tire is an oddball size and there was not a tire in that size anywhere near where we were. Lance called all of the tire stores for miles with no luck. He ended up finding one in Cadillac MI that could be delivered the next day. Lance then called four different motels trying to get me the best rate then apologized that the best he could find was $80.00 with a pet. He then drove me to the motel, on the way I asked if we were going to pass a liquor store, (at this point I was ready for a drink), and there was not so Lance turned around and took me to a store and watched my dog while I ran in. When I came out I tried to give him $20.00 for going out of his way and he would not accept it. When we got to the motel Lance helped me carry my things in. The next morning I got a call from his office person (also very nice) to tell me my tire was replaced and that Lance would be there in 20 minutes. Sure enough, 20 minutes later he showed up in my car. In addition to all of this, when I finally got home I shopped on-line for the tire he had to replace mine with as it was not the same brand as the others and found that he charged me the exact price that I would pay for the same tire at the car dealership I work at. He had every opportunity to gouge a stranded traveler and didnt. I can not express my gratitude strongly enough. Thank you Lance, Joey, and office person!

Comment: Car was sounding like chitty chitty bang bang after the long drive up. Only had a day scheduled for the island, needed to leave that night. Stopped by the dealership and was informed they couldnt get the part in for at least a day or two. Drove over to Georges for a second opinion, they looked it over for me, made a call and said that they were going to try to get the part in and would be in contact, and that we should go to the island and have our day. The owner said if we needed he would pick us up from the ferry. Around 230 got a call back saying the part came through and by 430 we were on our way home.They had added a tensioner to the parts replaced that was not included in the original estimate, and still came in below the estimate they gave me that morning, meaning they worked fast and didnt charge me for how long it could have taken, just the time they did put in.These people did right by me. If they werent several hours away from home I would be taking my car to them for everything at this point.
