Comment: This is an edit of my original review. I had them look over a car I wanted to buy. They missed a couple of things that I noticed but also noticed some mechanical things I missed and were happy to offer an opinion. Id give it 4 ⭐.However, once they get ahold of your phone and email they tend to nag you a lot and you need to request they remove you, which they did. To me, this is annoying enough to take them down one more ⭐ but some people might appreciate their constant reminders for all your auto needs. So Ill just leave them at 4 star and leave you with a warning to request they not contact you with unsolicited offers and reminders.See my original review below. I promised to edit my review on the condition they ask before sending all sorts of ads to customers. They did not promise to do so but only removed me from their list. So they get a partial edit.NOTICE! They will forever plague you with gimmicky texts and emails.Once your phone and email are in their system, youll never stop getting reminders for all your potential auto needs. Its been a real pain for the last five months.Other than that, no real problems with this place. All they did was inspect a car. They missed some things but found a thing or two I didnt too. Not real impressed. But acceptable.I will happily edit my rating if Dykstra promises to ASK before bombarding customers with text and email. Thats what earns them one start.

Comment: I am originally from Portage but my wife and two kids found ourselves in some car trouble traveling to Grand Rapids for dinner today. We luckily made it to the shop around 2pm after having alternator trouble which led to our battery draining. The staff came out and gave a free inspection in their parking lot, even running back and forth to the shop to grab equipment. Thankfully they recommended we not try to drive it back to portage as our battery died while running there in the parking lot. The staff let us sit in the waiting room as long as we needed to figure out how to get it towed back to portage and get a friend to come pick us up. My kids are 4 and 10 years old and they brought out snacks and water for them and even turned the tv to a kids movie of their chosing. To be as stressed as my wife and I was for them to welcome us in as non paying customers was nothing short of awesome. I have zero doubt that this place will take care of any customer that comes in for whatever reason. Please give this place your business as we are actually im debt to them just for their gratitude.

I have had other auto-shops try to service parts of my vehicle that werent of immediate concern or even a matter of being pro-active, they just wanted to run a higher bill. However the price or reasoning, its telling of a business to take advantage of customers little know-how with the added panic that their car might be falling apart. Dykstras Auto near Gerald R. Ford Airport might hold a higher price point and run package-servicing (such as brake pads + rotors, not replacing them separately) but it is well worth it knowing- Their communication is responsive and do their part to educate customers on necessary services for the longevity of their vehicle- Their work is polished and thorough- There is little to no fear of driving off the premises only to return with another problemI dont leave reviews for companies too often as I feel people should form their own opinions but I will give credit where it is due.

I asked uneducated and educated questions about the service, the cost, the timing, the parts and many more.They were patient, knowledgeable, and very thorough with their explanations and did not judge me, as a woman, asking uneducated questions about the service.I dropped my car off when it was time for my appointment and they assured me that my car would be ready the same day. It was! And even better yet, the price was fair and lower than everyone else’s. Other’s told me they had to include other things in the service in order to preform the service that I needed. Comment: I regularly used their Hudsonville location for two years because they were right near my work. I could drop off my car and walk to work, so it was very convenient. They have always been very honest and open. They tell you what the issue is before fixing it. If they are not sure what the issue is, they will not just fix things to figure it out to get your money. If they fix something that does not fix the issue, they will take it back and look more into it right away at no charge. They always make sure to schedule you so you never have to go without a vehicle, either by fixing yours that same day or by getting you a loaner car. They have always been amazing to me and their customer service is incredible.I have since switched jobs so they were no longer used for convenience. When I started having issues with my car one day a few months later, I learned of their other office in Kentwood which is where I am at regularly. I stopped by on the day before new years and they willingly took my car in and got it fixed that same day, even though they were booked out an entire week. For how incredible their services are, they are prices are very good. They will continue to be my go-to place if I have car issues. I highly recommend them.

Comment: Dykstras Auto is very good. Theyre more expnsive than many other garages, but in this case, you get what you pay for: excellent service, an honest business, and intelligent mechanics. I do most of my car work, and when I bring my car in, I usually already know whats wrong with it -- their diagnostics have always matched my expectations, and there has never been any extra unnecessary work slipped in. I tell all of my co-workers to use them, and of those Ive sent, only one has ever had a problem ... and Dykstras came through and made it right for him. A+.UPDATE - My dad brought his truck to the Hudsonville location to have the head gasket replaced. Dykstras snapped one of the bolts off (not a problem - Fords are horrible about having those seize), couldnt get it out of the block, and didnt tell him about it (PROBLEM! Minus one star) until he asked because it blew the gasket again. They didnt offer to make it right for him (minus another star), and he ended up having to fix it himself. Havent had any problems like that at the Patterson location, so I havent knocked any stars off, but still very disappointing.

I started off asking if they could preform a full leakdown and compression test on a Porsche that I was interested in. He was very helpful in the whole process. We found the car to have several problems (before the leakdown/compression tests were preformed) and intern saved me several hundred dollars on the inspection, not to mention many thousands of dollars in repairs on a car that was misrepresented.
