Comment: We were visiting from out of town and on the way down from Cheboygan heard a reoccurring noise. We got to GR about 3:00 and the noise was getting louder. Our son Inlaw had used Dykstra Auto in Byron Center for a wheel baring issue and was impressed with them. We called them at 3:30 on Friday the 13th told them our problem and they asked us to run the car over. They were clear that they were all ready knee deep in another out of town situation but said they’d make time to look at it. We took it there and they put it on the hoist and found one of the tires lug nuts were loose. They tightened it up and refused to bill us. Now that is some great customer service and good karma. I had originally been scheduled for an appointment somewhere else but didnt care for their customer service, so a coworker recommended Dykstras Byron Center to me. From my first phone call, they made everything very easy and were very friendly. I was unable to make the appointment on their website, but I called and listed all the things I needed done to my car (4-5 different items). The man on the other end of the phone listed and at the end of the call read back everything I had said. It was easy and quick to drop off my appointment in the morning. After their courtesy inspection, they called me to explain everything that was going on and their recommendations for repairs. They were very flexible and patient with me. I greatly appreciated their assistance and willingness to explain and answer all my questions since I know next to nothing about cars.They ended up flushing the transmission and brake fluid, and then replaced all of my brake pads and rotors. This was almost a week ago, and so far everything is working well, so I am very happy with their service. Based on my research and consulting other mechanics, for all the work they did their pricing was pretty reasonable. They did a great job and were very helpful, highly recommend!

The night before my appointment as I was about to drop my truck off my wife’s car battery died and wouldn’t even take a charge. I called to leave a message on the machine to let them know I would not be able to make my appointment the next morning. Dave called me the next morning and was very understanding of the situation and even let me swap out the appointment to get my wife’s vehicle in the same day instead of my truck. We had my wife’s vehicle towed to the shop and they took care of it all on the same day as promised. Very happy with their flexibility and how that all worked out. Made a new appointment for my truck and I’m looking forward to getting my brakes done there later this week! Excellent customer service!

I dropped the car off for a Tuesday appointment and had already heard from them within 3 hours what was wrong. I was able to call and go over everything and get pricing. The charges for oil change, air filter replacement, and the repair to my engine was extremely reasonable. I had gotten a call by the end of the day to pick it up. We ended up having issues afterwards, and Dykstra’s took it right back and was extremely kind and generous with the whole situation and we had the car back and fixed by the end of the day, running perfectly! We will definitely be using Dykstra’s from here on out for any services and repairs we will need in the future.

When a local dealership dropped the ball on my Jeep Wrangler, they stepped in immediately and were able to address my concerns in person, schedule an appointment, give me advance notice on costs, fill my tires, and even offered to find a way for me to get home if my vehicle needed to stay there longer. I have also had good experiences in the past with bringing my Jeep Liberty to them - they had helped me really understand what was going on with the vehicle and only suggested repairs if they made sense for the age and condition of the vehicle.

They emailed me an itemized list of things they noticed with a prioritization next to each item. I really appreciated this because it allowed me to defer on some things that werent truly necessary yet.They also wowed me because a few days later they called back mentioning that the Serpentine belt they replaced had a warranty from the manufacturer and they needed my address in order to submit the rebate form. Appreciate them looking for an extra way to save some cash!Making an appointment was also easy and they were able to get me in within a few days. One small thing Id appreciate in the future is having a dollar amount next to each item in the initial estimate report. In my case I needed to call to get that info.Overall awesome service and Ill be back next time something comes up with my car.

At the end of my inspection that I had them do, they followed up with a PDF to my email about the inspection, pictures and all. It was NUTS. I have never experienced that before. It was even graded on priority of maintenance. Before I could even ask if he could price it all together and get me a quote sheet, he already told me he had done that and its at the desk for me waiting. This inspection was $40. I called 5 different businesses, 2 Chevy dealers and 3 tire people, and all said 3-5 business days to get it fixed because they would have to order a rim. I called these guys first thing Monday morning because I saw a review that they had loaner vehicles and since I thought it would be a few days, I would need one. I explained all to them and left with a lovely Volvo to go about my day. Well, at about 3:30 same day they called to let me know they were able to get all the parts needed and my car would be done same day. Took my payment info over the phone and I was able to swap cars late that night after I got out of classes. Im so glad they were able to help me get my car back up and running. Comment: As a woman who doesnt know or care much about vehicles, Im normally very frustrated and disappointed with the service and communication of repair shops. Dykstras is certainly the exception. Not only were they able to get my vehicle in quickly after I called, but they also gave me a loaner vehicle. That takes so much stress out of it in case the repairs take longer. About an hour and a half after I dropped my car off, I got a text with a link to the inspection report they had just done. It clearly identified all the things they inspected as good (no issues), orange (potential concerned, but not imminent) or red (serious issue). It also included photos of each item on my car from when it was on the lift, and recommended repairs and timing. I really appreciated seeing the report as soon as it was done because I had time to understand and do research before they called me a half hour later. I didnt feel put on the spot like usual, and felt like I was able to make better informed decisions. I also asked if they could show me the part they replaced (exhaust manifold) when I picked up the car the next day and they did. I took my car back the next time I had an issue, and the service was the same: quick turnaround to get it in, loaner car, good communication. Id highly recommend Dykstras to anyone, but especially anyone who gets overwhelmed or frustrated with car repair places. They make it as painless as possible!

I didnt start having problems with it until this past September. Dykstra was there when my transmissions computer stopped working and left me stuck in first gear. Comment: I had an estimated repair cost of 2,000.00 dollars from dealership . The honesty and up front cost of what it took for auto repairs was a breath of fresh air. My cost of repairs was under 600.00 dollars. Thank you for excellent honest service.

Comment: Life hasnt necessarily been dealing me the best cards lately, and luck has not been on my side whatsoever. But this morning something shocking and wonderful happened to me, and I am ever so grateful for it. I brought my not so new grand am that I had recently gotten rid of for a better car (which ironically took a crap on me last week during the white out blizzard, and I just got the grand am back because of it.) into Dykstras Auto in Clyde Park. I went in expecting there to be so many things wrong with this car, and for the inspection to just wreck my bank account, because thats literally how my life has been going. Its just one thing after another. But not only was there nothing wrong with my car mechanically, the man who looked my car over, DIDNT EVEN CHARGE ME for his service, AND he fixed my lock. AND he greased my doors so they wouldnt freeze shut anymore. After the man at the counter told me that it was free of charge, I just looked at him confused, nodded my head and said thank you in a very muffled voice. I then went out to my car and just started crying. Ive been feeling really useless lately, and like all my hard work is for nothing, but this mans actions today really changed my perspective on some things. Maybe there really are some good people left in this world.
