Comment: My review is largely based on customer service as we didnt get our car repaired by them given the timing/part availability. We were in town from Charlotte, NC and our check engine light came on. We needed it fixed before we took our two day trip back home and given the holidays the part and service appointments werent available anywhere. But Jamie was very gracious and tried everything to get us back on the road while many other dealers/repair shops were short with us. I would highly recommend giving Daves a call the next time you have a car issue as they were lovely to work with.

They really surprised me the last time I was in earlier this week with a bill under $200 when they thought it would be closer to a thousand based on the diagnosis over the phone. I feel that this is a place you can trust, which is difficult to find, as we all know, for an auto repair facility. They take good care of you, communicate well, and also toss a free local car wash at you at the end of the day. Only good things to say. Very clean office and good people. Go Steelers!Just an update for yall. Ive continued taking vehicles here over the years and have been nothing shy of delighted. Communication from Heather and Danielle is great; leveraging of available Internet services is on target; and they get things done quickly while keeping in touch daily. It started with the online form they sent where I could share info @ what was wrong with my car to make sure that nothing got missed, and continued from there - including the shuttle service; how the service manager clearly answered all of my questions and explored repair options with me; to the detailed photos of the issue they took so I could show the picture to a transmission rebuild place; and finishing with a follow-up message to make sure all went okay.Daves Garage was completely amazing, and their attention to detail was awesome, unprecedented in my experience with other garages, and really appreciated. My son has a new job starting this week in Minnesota and his car blew a transmission fluid line two days before he was to move and start his new career. They provided extremely helpful shuttle drop-off and pick-up rides from my work location during the day while my car was being repaired. I got it back with a differant noise so after paying $1600 that was frustrating. But Jamie who i think is the owner was very helpful and adamant that I bring it back in for them to take a look at it and figure out what was up. Overall they did great work. I still have a new noise that wasnt there before hand but that could very well just be a coincidence. Might be on the exspensive side for what I paid to have done, but they always say you pay for what you get.

I took my girlfriends car in after having been quoted thousands of dollars by another place and being told its just the sway bar but also suggesting we spend at least a grand on a vehicle tune up as it turns out the car couldnt even be hoisted and the real trail arm was completely rusted off! Thats a huge difference! I walked into Daves Garage after having been informed of this and was greeted by a kind face. Her name is Heather and shes one of the nicest people I know that does outreach/ customer service in town! She told me that there would be no charge and understood that the car was already a total loss. I also took another one of my vehicles into Daves Garage after having my dealership tell me itd be 500$ to replace a locking mechanism on my car for a door ajar issue. Daves Garage ordered the necessary parts and charged hundreds less. They did have a small mix up and received the wrong door mechanism (passenger instead of the drivers side) and they put it on my car anyway free of charge! Plus the additional correct mechanism! So I have two new door mechanisms now for the price of one!!! ***THIS IS THE BEST GARAGE IN TOWN WOULD 10/10 RECOMMEND!!!

I dont have much knowledge about cars, so I always worry about getting taken advantage of when I bring my car in to a shop. I didnt get that feeling when I took it to Daves Garage. They were able to swiftly take care of what I brought the car in for and also identify an issue with my brakes while inspecting my car. Heather was super friendly and communicative with me throughout about the state of my vehicle, broke down the cost of the repairs, and gave me my options on what work needed done now and what could wait. I didnt feel like I was being railroaded into unnecessary repairs, and the cost was less than I expected, definitely more cost effective than taking it to the dealership. My car was ready the next day, and everything was taken care of and working great. They even followed up with me a few days later to make sure the repairs went well and I was happy with the results. Ill definitely be taking my car here again next time it needs work done! They were also really good about observing safety precautions for the pandemic; I was able to drop my car off after hours, so I only had to be there in person briefly to pay, and masks, social distancing, and sanitizer were used, which was appreciated!

Jamie was able to squeeze me in with the tight schedule they have and get it closed before the 8 hour haul back to Cincinnati. Not to mention it was more than a fair price; one normally hears horror stories of being practically stranded in another city and goughed at the auto shop. Thank you Dave’s Garage!

Comment: It was our first day of vacation and we already had a very late start. On the way up we noticed our suv was using way too much gas and then our check engine light went on. The next morning I searched garages and noticed very good reviews for Daves. I went over and met the owner Jamie who was amazing. All I told him was that my engine light came on and nothing else. Jamie told me actually what was wrong (O2 sensor), told me what happens when this sensor is broke(sucks up gas like crazy, go figure), how much it would cost and how long it would take. He told me it wasnt a vacation breaker and stated to at least get the problem fixed when we got home if we didnt do it while on our vacation. There was no pressure. Brought it back the day and Jamie drove my husband and I back to the campground and then picked us up when it was done. It cost less than he said it would too. I would bring all my vehicles to Jamie if we didnt live 4 1/2 hrs away.Thank you so much Jamie for your honesty and not trying to make the situation sound dire as a car salesman would.

Comment: A mechanic with an extremely personal touch is rare in my experience. I was directed to this garage for an inspection by Lyft. I missed the fine print from Lyft and they filled me in and scheduled me early to help me be sure the used car I had bought was all good before the return date had passed. Quick service with a smile, and they even complimented me on a good purchase for my cool new-to-me car :-)I will be heading back to this garage when I have any issues with my new ride. They definitely earned a returning client with their positive customer service.

Comment: I read all the positive reviews, so I decided to take my car there. I took my car to my usual place, and I was quoted an outrageous price to fix my car. I decided to go to Daves and give them a shot at my business. The person on the phone was really nice and got me in right away. Then, when I showed up I was actually treated like a VIP, and even had fun waiting. Comment: I had the ideal experience w/ Daves Garage. Ill definitely be back.My hockey team plays in same league as the team sponsored by Daves Garage. Im new to the area so when my teammates recommended Daves Garage (because most of them are repeat patrons) I figured it was worth a shot.I submitted an online appointment request. Craig called me back at 9am the next day and setup an appointment for the following day. (1) Quick response and quick scheduling. Dropped my car off at 8am and (2) used their courtesy shuttle for a ride downtown while I waited. (3) Estimate completed by mid-day with a fair price on the service recommendation. (4) Car was ready by 4pm and used courtesy shuttle to pick-up my car.

My vehicle broke down just down the road from these guys and rather than call a tow truck, the crew came out and pushed my vehicle to the garage. They are very respectful, professional, and friendly. Just finding quality parts for this platform anymore is a hassle in itself. I had heard about Daves for a while and decided to go in for a quote. Comment: Ive taken my car(s) to Daves since I moved to Traverse City in 2013. With Dave and John, and also later with the new owners, Craig and Jamie, I have laughed and cried. They have always been there to perform outstanding routine maintenance, and also not-so-routine work. Theyve worked me in when my exhaust suddenly fell off my car on my way to work, and had it done in no time. They left me a holiday card on my front seat, with the interior warmed up when I picked it up from my oil change. When my vehicles have inconveniently decided to break down, or was in an accident they are always there to tell it to me straight, honestly, and never talk down to me (Im a 27 year old female...car repair people often try to dishonestly sell you, or talk to you like youre a toddler). During the time following a major accident, they took initiative and called my insurance company, taking a lot of stress and load off my shoulders through a tough time. I highly recommend this garage to anyone.
