Comment: This should be the only place you take your car I’ve been here a multitude of times for different things, every time is EXCELLENT only people that will ever touch my car. A+ Hey all i recently had a power steering leak so i brought it in to D and J. They told me what was wrong( return hose on the power steering system) My car had other issues i knew of but they didn’t try to sell me the kitchen sink once.I had my car back in a very timely manner and fixed correctly! I will be returning when needed!

Comment: I had an annoying squealing brake problem after replacing my rotors and pads recently at another shop on my Infiniti Q50. I went to D and J Auto Repair and they offered to do a free inspection, but ordered premium pads as well just in case they needed to upgrade the pads. They replaced my pads with Duralast Elite in a few hours and the annoying squeal that I had for months is gone! Dan even followed up with me a few days later to ensure the problem was fixed. Can’t say enough positive things about my experience and they won me over as a future customer! Five stars for these guys! thanks Dan and team.

Theyve also been so generous to help me on a few side projects Ive had on this vehicle by allowing me to use some of their specialized tools which really speaks for the level of kindness that I have received from this place. My family owned a mechanic shop in Mount pleasant Michigan for over 32 years and now that its sold this is our place to go. It speaks volumes when a family that owned a mechanic shop now puts their entire trust in this place. Although they were closing in a few minutes, Dan was kind enough to stay late to help me. The part needed to fix my transmission leak was unavailable until Tuesday. I had an issue with my alternator failing on me when i went to lunch and when i returned to work my battery went dead after jump starting it soon after would loose charge ,so bad alternator.it was about 230 in the afternoon when i started looking for a place to repair my truck but got rejected 4 times. Not being from this area I ask who to call next and was told D&js so i called them and them did not hesitate to help me sense i was 40 miles from home. They had me rolling by the end of day. I wasn’t quite sure what was going on with my vehicle but Dan was quick to troubleshoot the underlying issues. I had a few seized calipers and warped rotors which really made driving difficult to say the least. He ended up replacing my rotors, brakes and calipers all around for my 2013 Dodge Dart. Comment: I had the unfortunate experience of having an AC Compressor lock up and cause my serpentine belt to break. I was in the process of travelling to Mt. Morris while towing some jetskis. What a mess! A quick call to D and J, and they offered to work me in if I could get the vehicle towed to them. Forty minutes later, I arrived with truck in tow. They diagnosed the problem and walked me through my options for fixing. They had me back on the road as quickly as they could. A nice touch was a text message two days later asking how the car was driving and if everything was good. I would recommend D & J to anyone who needs car repair.

Comment: Im from Saginaw, so I dont take my car to Midland for service and I was unfamiliar with D and J Auto Repair, but now I wouldnt hesitate to return. We were leaving for a vacation to St. Ignace, MI, we were coming through Midland after dropping off our dogs at a kennel, and a guy pulled up to me on Saginaw and Eastman and told me he smelled brakes. I pulled over and he was right! My front brake and wheel rim were so hot, the metal wheel weights were falling off because the glue was melting. We Googled repair shops in the area and found D and J Auto Repair and they were very close. I called and explained I was right down the road and asked if they had the capability to look at my car. It was 2:30pm in the afternoon. They said they would. I went there, unhooked my trailer, and was in a garage stall immediately. Immediately Dan and Matt started diagnosing my issue. Im not unfamiliar with cars and as I listened, what they said made sense. It ended up that the flexible brake line you see in the picture was restricting the brake fluid from returning once the brakes were applied, thus causing the brake on that side of vehicle to stay engaged which super heated all the brake parts. I was still wondering if we would have to postpone our vacation a day or so. Dan spoke to me about options and cost and then immediately got on the phone and ordered the parts. They arrived and they started working on repairs. They repaired the flexible brake lines, replaced the brake pads as they cracked from the heat, and replaced the rotors as a precaution, all of which I agreed was necessary. They re-balanced my tires as I had lost the wheel weights and I was back on the road a little after 5:30pm that same day and we went on our way up north. There were no surprises and all repairs were discussed before being performed. Its hard to find service like this these days, but Dan and Matt delivered just that. Based upon my experience, you should definitely consider D and J Auto Repair. Normally I dont take the time to give glowing reviews, but they helped us out of a real bind and this review is one way of thanking them for the service and care they provided to me and my family. I had some work done on my truck that I needed done promptly due to working out of town. They got me in the following morning and where done with repairs by 2 pm. Very quick and called and kept me updated and gave me the best recommendations for what I could afford at the time. Comment: While in Midland the pulley for the drive belt fell off from the power steering pump and we came to a stop in a lot next to D & J auto repair. I had someone come down to help see if we could get it fixed without having to tow it anywhere. Him and I had exhausted all chances of getting it fixed before dark, we were just getting ready to tow it home, when the owner of D and J auto stopped as he was going home for the night, he said that he noticed we had been out there for a bit and wanted to see if he could be any assistance to us. He looked at the problem and asked us to bring the car over to his shop so he could take a closer look at it (mind you after he had already closed for the day), we took it over to the shop and he looked at it and had us up and going in about 30 minutes. I have a new mechanic for sure, you do not see this type of service anymore. Thanks again!

Comment: My daughter goes to school in Midland and her car started smoking. We usually get all of our cars fixed in Grand Rapids from a family friend who we trust. Based on what she described to me this car wasnt going to make it back to GR. I looked up ratings of car repair shops in Midland and wasnt feeling real confident with what I saw. Especially since I know that many will take advantage of a female college student who knows nothing about cars. But, I saw one that had good ratings, especially from a woman that was taken very good care of from D and J Auto Repair. My daughter took her car there and was treated very well. Her car was looked at promptly and she asked them to call me with the diagnosis. Dan called and said that the front gaskets needed replacing, but not the backs. He could have replaced the backs as well and I would have never known if they needed it. Upon the drive after the fix he noticed the car was really pulling and saw that the front left brake calipers were freezing up and called me about it. This was an area that my friend had told me to be aware of as needing potential work down the road. Again, Dan only fixed the one side as needed. He also noticed a leak in a hose, but said that the car would make it back to GR and that my friend would be able to fix it. The car is running fine and did make it back to GR. I would take my car back to D and J as we received excellent service and would recommend them to others as well.

Even though they closed in 20 minutes, they agreed to repair my car right then, knowing it would take an hour longer than the available time. Not only that, I was $10 short for the total bill, and they gave me a discount so I wouldnt have to worry about it at a later time. Outstanding friendly customer service, and if I ever have car problems in that area of the state again I will not hesitate to go there.
