They do great exhaust work, I had them fix my differential and do the exhaust as an extra and Im not sure if they bend their own pipes but they do great work, exhaust is spot on straight with the frame.

Comment: Brought my truck in to have transmission fluid changed since I was way overdue in mileage and I needed to go out of state the next morning.. Called Mark the owner, and he said bring it in, We will make it happen. The trans filter was difficult at best to locate, and he made several calls, and at best the dealer said they could have it to the shop the next morning. Mark explained, it has to be delivered today as the truck is going out of state. He got the filter delivered, the trans fluid was changed, and the truck ready for pickup by 4:30. Mark goes above and beyond along with his staff of technicians. I will never go anywhere else. Best service right there at Clarkston Transmission. And they also do other auto/truck repairs as well like when my radiator antifreeze line was leaking last year. Love those guys!

Comment: At the end of February I started to experience issues with transmission in 2017 Ram 2500. I took it to the local Ram dealership, Feldman in Clarkston to have it checked out. The details of my terrible experience with Feldman are detailed in my Google review for them, but I can summarize as lengthy delays, unanswered calls/messages and an eventual recommendation to replace my transmission with a rebuilt unit (over $11,000!)Considering my poor treatment so far and the very high cost I went shopping for second opinions/options. I reached out to multiple transmission shops in the area, and I had a good experience with Mark at Clarkston Automotive and Transmission.He explained that they repair what needs to be fixed and their diagnostic pricing policy (diagnostic fees are rolled into the repair once they determine what the problem is.) He helped me set up a wrecker to tow the vehicle to their shop from Feldman and stayed in constant daily contact. Bottom line, I had my truck back four days later ($4600 with a 12 month/12000 mile warranty, new torque converter, solenoid pack, front pump cover/seal, bearing kit, pump assembly, etc.) I have driven over 500 hundred miles since the repair and the truck is running excellent (good shifts & fuel economy, transmission temp is running between 165 & 172 degrees when fully warmed up.)The folks at Clarkston Automotive & Transmission provided me with excellent customer service and clearly communicated what needed to be done. Their repair cost less than half of what the dealership proposed and it was completed in a timely fashion. My truck sat at the dealership (without being looked at) for a longer time period than Clarkston Automotive & Transmission needed to diagnose and completely fix all issues!Clarkston Automotive & Transmission has earned a customer for life. It was New Years Eve & my son was returning to college the next day. Many auto repair shops were closed & other shops had no availability for an emergency appointment. Mark & Rod were extremely kind & found room in their appointment book to squeeze us in & fix my son’s power steering for a very reasonable price. Rod took the time to teach my son about auto maintenance on his car while Mark entertained us with some riddles & life stories while we waited. I would definitely recommend them for auto repairs. Comment: I can not recommend Clarkston Automotive enough. These guys literally saved my vacation. I had my CV Joints replaced by another shop 3 days before I left on vacation. I was heading north on I-75 and the replaced parts failed. I called multiple shops hoping someone could fit me in and save my vacation. Mark was the only one that stepped up. He searched high and low for the parts even sending a driver an hour and a half each way to get what I needed. Took most of the day waiting on the parts, but they got them and installed them and I made it to the Upper Penisula and back no problem. Thanks Guys!

Comment: Ive had wonderful experiences here, a place that Id highly recommend to anyone! friendly and very knowledgeable guys that take care to make sure youre back on the road in no time. being a female with car troubles can raise some anxiety, worrying that youre being talked into fixing a whole list of problems when you just come in to replace a belt or something... Well not at Clarkston transmission. Their customer service is very transparent, these guys know how to break down exactly whats going on under the hood in a way that anyone can understand. All of my experiences have been 5 stars. As are the responses of anyone Ive recommended thier services. So next time you have something funny going on with your car, sit back, relax, and let Clarkston transmission do the work! And if its a quick fix theres a great place next door to grab a burger!!

Comment: I recently had my transmission rebuilt here. The gentlemen there were very nice and showed me what went wrong with the parts and explained to me how they are supposed to work under normal conditions. They were nice enough to replace some of the parts they noticed that were bad at the cost of the part only for me. I highly recommend them for service and will go back to them if the need should ever arise again.

Comment: I called clarkston trans cause my truck had broke down on sashabaw rd they had a tow truck to me in 1/2 hour and looked at my truck the same day. My fuel pump was bad. They replaced it and had me back on the road in less then 24 hrs. Good honest people. Highly recommend!

Comment: Im not sure if this business name will change or not because Clarkston Transmission is under new ownership as of late October, 2016. This location was bought by the owner of a Cottman Transmission location in Flint. I went there on what (I believe) was the second day of new ownership for a trans fluid and filter change after scheduling an appointment. The first thing the technician did was take my vehicle for a test drive. I can understand why this is done (to document any problems before service so that someone cant complain about a problem after service and blame Clarkston Trans.). I was a little shocked to see the technician accelerate rather quickly onto Dixie Highway in my vehicle... with his arm hanging out the window!!! After returning, he began to work on my vehicle. After about 30 minutes of work, the tech comes in to the office and asks the (new) owner to come into the shop for a second. This startled me a bit. The owner came back in and politely apologized to me about the fact that they did not have the replacement gasket for my transmission pan, and that they would need to buy one from somewhere else. Im not sure where they went, but the tech returned about a half hour later and continued to work. After another 45 minutes, the tech said my service was completed. I went to pay (a price the owner and I agreed on over the phone) with a credit card. The owner told me they did not have a working credit card machine. Instead, he called it in to his other shop and ran the transaction over the phone with his other shop (he explained he bought the shop a couple days ago and wasnt set up yet). This did not sit right with me. He also did not have a printer set up, so he asked if he could send me a picture of the receipt through a text message. I agreed. After about 20 minutes, I left.Though this was not the experience I was hoping for, the service they performed was good. I checked under my vehicle for about a week to see if there were any leaks. A couple days ago (this being a month after the original service) I checked the dipstick and noticed the fluid was completely full and very clean. I was very pleased to see that. No errors came from the charge on my credit card, either, so I was also happy to see that.Im sure that the owner has these kinks worked out by now, and that this is a good place to have simple maintenance done. I cant speak for major repairs, though. I would suggest calling ahead and making an appointment, and asking to make sure that they have all of the necessary parts in stock to complete your service.

Comment: I called Clarkston Transmission when I thought it had gone finally. They could have easily lied to me, but were honest and told me it was the Drive Axle. Now what I thought was my transmission going seems to have mainly been from that instead and I got away with only spending about a third of what a transmission would have cost. I will definitely go to them again and recommend them at everyone.
