Let me tell you about my experience at Armsteads ..I have been bringing all my vehicles here for over 7 years now! Not ONCE have I even looked back after changing from another local repair shop in Holly!!!! This is a TRUE family owned & operated business and it really shows! John Armstead has his family working along side him and his team and they are second to none! I know in saying this I have years of working with them... but its really nice to say you can walk in and Jarred & John (Service Writers) great you the second you walk in and take the time to talk with you and see how you are doing (and they put up with my frequent calling about my ancient car that I want to last forever)!!!!! I was there last week and I was talking to John Armstead about the interesting old invoices framed on the wall and we had a 20 minute chat about his progression working his way up to self employment with his own establishment and where his previous locations in town, and how the city evolved over time. I learned some cool local facts about Holly and more about his business... and thats saying something about a company! Its HIS business not just a job... he loves what he does and cares about his team and his customers because John understands that its integrity that got him where he is today, not gimmicks or specials.... Just good ol elbow grease and a work ethic that you do not find in other shops or Chain repair places.Never once have I felt they were taking me to the cleaners ! They make sound recommendations about where my vehicles are currently and what they need now Vs. Things to consider in the near and distant future... So I am not blindsided by big repair bills.... I can prepare and save up so its not such a financial burden! I trust Jarred & John to give me a straight answer and I trust their opinions & recommendations on what my vehicles need and also what they dont! At the end of the day they take honesty & integrity above the sale and thats why I take the time to write reviews like this and explain what you should expect... and WILL experience when you walk in the door! While completing repairs, they inspected my battery and also informed me that it should be replaced. Due to part availability the services needed to be completed the following morning and the they even kindly offered me a ride home. Comment: Electric power steering went out on my F150. Everywhere I took it said it was a dealer only repair, and I avoid the dealerships as much as possible. I called Armstead and they said to bring it in. Not only did they fix it, but they didnt even have it a week before it was fixed. Dealer couldnt even get it in to look at it for a month. They even looked over my truck and recommended other things that needed to be fixed. They do amazing work and have great customer service at a fair price. Definitely your best alternative to a dealership in the area. Ill be using them for all my future auto repairs that I cant do myself, and taking our company vehicles there as well.

They could not have been more accommodating. Turns out there was too much damage and the insurance company decided to totaled our motorhome. It sat in their driveway for almost 2 weeks during this process before it was finally towed away.It had to be inconvenient for them but they never complained once.I would recommend this company to anyone.

The mechanics at Armstead found the problem and fixed it. That was my previous car which had 230 K miles before I traded it in. They did almost all the maintenance on it. I just took my new car there for oil/filter change. They are as great as ever. I ask them to change the air filter but they told it does need changing and showed it to me.

Comment: I took my moms car in to have it inspected before she went out of town for a road trip. They went above and beyond checking everything to make sure she would be safe. Even checked the license plate light. They did find a few things that they recommend being done before she left and also gave us a heads up on a few things to watch that didnt need to be done right away but could in a the future. Jon was amazing and communicate very well with me during the whole repair process. And I believe they where very far on there prices for parts and labor. Being a women sometimes you feel places can take advantage of you specially if you dont really know cars. I never felt this way dealing with them. Comment: I would definitely recommend going here. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and very up front. I went in for an oil change and a break job on my rear breaks. They told me my air filter needed to be replaced and I should get my front breaks taken care of as well and very easily spotted a broken flex pipe on my exhausted, which I knew about. If was given an estimate about the cost to fix everything but was not pressured into getting more done than what I came in to get done, especially since all the work was outside my initial budget. While working on the rear breaks they found an issue that had to be fixed in order to finish the job and let me know right away. They accept Car Care Credit, so between that and money I had set aside, and discounts I qualified for, I was able to get everything done that absolutely needed to be done and was told how much life expectancy was left in what I did not get done. Jared, the one I worked with through the entire process, and the ENTIRE Armstead team are amazing, they even went the extra mile and were nice enough to drive me a couple miles to my home while they worked on my vehicle. I can not thank them enough for everything they did. I am pretty sure I have found my new mechanic location for all my future vehicle needs.

Comment: I recently used Armstead‘s Auto Repair for a routine oil change. The facility is super clean in the customer area and in the shop, the staff was very courteous, efficient and friendly. The service was done in a timely manner, the CSR recommended that I come in a little sooner than normal as I own a Subaru and they tend to use oil more frequently, I appreciated Jon’s recommendation. The price for the Full Synthetic oil change was cheaper than I could buy the oil and do it myself. I have already recommended Armstead’s to several friends. I plan to turn to them for any repairs I might need in the future and they’ll be my Go To oil change place from now on. Great LOCAL, FAMILY OWNED business!

Comment: We have used Armstead for years for oil changes, front end alignments and they did a fuel pump for us. Recently my husband took one of our trucks for an alignment and they charged $89.95 for a basic alignment which is reasonable but that was only for tow, they charged an additional $116 to adjust the camber and charged a $13.02 hazmat fee. Bill was $199.75 after a $20 off coupon. We will never use this shop again. I am taking our other truck for an alignment to a shop in White Lake who will do both tow & camber for $79.90. I would no longer recommend this shop.As a follow up to my above comments, I spoke with Jared this morning and he worked to make things right on this situation so we are giving Armsteads a chance at redemption and will continue to use them if this works out well. Jon Egerton from Armstead Automotive showed up within 25 mins, greeted me with a friendly professional demeanor. Comment: My car is one that does not have a spare, but a compressor with some sealing goop that is supposed to seal a hole, unless the hole is the size of a quarter, I guess. Armstead was there in no time, friendly professional and quick. Will use them if I ever have an issue for towing and likely for car repair.

Comment: After 3 failed attempts by another local shop to fix my rear brakes, I took it to Armstead. Id never been there before, but will surely be going back.Jon and Matt dealt kindly with my obvious and vocal frustration over the thrice-botched job done by the other shop and their techs inspected and assessed the issue quickly and accurately. The brake job from Armstead was done right the first time, including a needed repair to my emergency brake that had been missed by the first shop.In this winter climate, brakes that work right and dont stick or pull to one side are essential to safe driving. Im glad I found this place and will most certainly return for any future automotive needs.

Comment: Armsteads is our go to shop for repairs and inspections. The staff is very polite and does not talk down to you if youre not knowledgeable. They have consistently demonstrated themselves to be honest and trustworthy. They dont mislead you into spending money you dont need to be spending. When (rarely) a repair fails under warranty, they own up to it and repair it. The pricing is competitive. Occasionally its a little high, but the confidence of knowing they arent ripping you off is more than worth it. You cant go wrong with Armsteads.

That is why I was happy to drive from Rochester to Holly for their expertise on the problem. Everyone was courteous and knowledgeable. Comment: I have been going to Armsteads for the past decade, and would not take my car any where else.Recently I had an intake gasket done on my Chevy truck. Doing my duty as a smart shopper I checked around on pricing, and was completely shocked to see that the price differences that I was quoted. Armsteads was very reasonable and they explained everything thoroughly before the work was done. Anytime they came across an issue they have found, they did make me feel like it had to be done right then; but to keep an eye on certain signs that would mean its getting closer to needing an immediate attention. The fact that they never made me feel like something needed to be done that wasnt in dire need. Sure makes the honest nature of their business stand out! Hats off to these guys..

Comment: We all know how stressful it is when you have car troubles and need roadside assistance. Last night was one of those nights for me, and I could not have been any more pleased with the help I received. While at work, my car wouldnt start and a co-worker tried to jump my battery. It didnt work, so I thought it was a starter or alternator problem and was going to need a tow. My roadside assistance company contacted Armstead Automotive for me. The representative from my insurance company gave me a quote time of 40 minutes, but the driver, Caleb, was actually much closer to my location and arrived in less than 15 minutes. He gave me a phone call to let me know he would be arriving shortly. Once he arrived he asked me to run down what had happened, and he suspected that it was probably a battery problem and suggested we try jumping it one more time before loading it onto his truck, as his vehicle had more juice than the average car. It turns out my battery was dead, and I didnt actually need a tow. Caleb was able to jump the battery very quickly. He gave me his card for any future problems I may have, and asked if I needed anything else. I told him I needed to get gas before I went home and asked if it would be OK to turn the car off to do so. He offered to follow me to the gas station to make sure I got there safely. After I filled my tank he gave me a friendly honk and drove away. I wanted to publicly give your company and specifically Caleb the credit you so very much deserve. As Ive already said, its always upsetting to run into car troubles, but its particularly distressing as a young woman in a dark parking lot with very little automotive knowledge. It was a great comfort to feel safe, secure, and to be treated with so much respect. Thank you for the great service! I will be keeping your card in my wallet for any future assistance I may need.

Comment: I cannot say enough about John Armstead and his team of professionals!!!I own a 2003 Silverado Crew with a Duramax diesel. Last summer I wore out another set of tires towing my fifth wheel trailer, all under a 1000 miles. Being frustrated with misleading information from other repair facilities in my area, I called John at Armstead on a Saturday where he was more than willing to hear me vent. John recommended that I bring my truck and my fifth wheel trailer into his shop so he could look at the complete rig.So Monday I was on his door step, with truck and trailer. John and his son, Ben jumped right into action. They advised me of so many things that were improperly setup on my truck, that its a wonder I could even keep the truck on the road, let alone keep tires on it.John instructed Ben to check the truck out for any worn parts. He then looked at me and advised me that I am going to need a airbag system to offset some of the trailer weight and to keep the nose of the truck down. A short while later Ben called and advised me that the front end was completely out of specifications and he would need the air bag system installed before he could properly align my truck, both with the trailer and without... thats right, with the trailer hooked to my truck!The next day the air bags had been installed and Ben begun the front end alignment, both the truck itself and with the trailer. Once done, Ben walked me through what air pressure I should have in the air bags with and without the trailer. He further explained that it will keep my caster, camber and toe inline with the settings he set during the alignment. I have since put more than 5000 miles on my truck and the tires look like the day I purchased them, a far cry from the 1000 miles I got out of the last set before they were ruined. To add, the truck rides and drives so much better! I cant thank Ben enough!I highly recommend John and his team at every chance I get.
