Comment: I have used Arbor Motion for service on my vehicles for many years. If someone treats me badly, I dont go back. So, when I say many years it must mean that they have treated me right. That would, however, be an understatement. This is one of the finest organizations from the owner right down to the last mechanic. They do everything right. And their customer service is pure gold. If there was ever ANYTHING I was not completely satisfied with, they would instantly make it right. They put the dealerships to shame. Great service, work done right. Dont go anywhere else.

I drive an Audi, so I dont take the car just anywhere and they have a Audi tech, so They identified a wheel bearing going bad, serviced it within a day and had it back on the road. Comment: Some quarter century ago we arrived in Ann Arbor with a Volvo and met a mechanic who drove the same model. When I asked him where he took his car for more complex jobs, he replied Swedish Engineering (now ArborMotion--this was back when Chuck, if he were there, would have been a middle schooler doing an internship). Anyway, many Volvos and Toyotas later, we still go to State Circle for skilled repairs, straight talk, and experienced staff. Though weve seen ownership changes, quality has never faltered. To be clear, its pricey, but you get what you pay for. Oh, and theres still Chuck!

He was very apologetic about the experience I had, and was determined to make things right.He acknowledged that they had issues earlier this year. Then outlined the steps they were taking to correct them, and to make sure that no one had the same experience at his establishment.I was absolutely blown away by how humble, understanding, and attentive he was to the situation, even knowing it likely wasnt going to bring me back as a customer.This is a level customer service that is absolutely unheard-of in todays world.Would I go back tomorrow, maybe not... But theyre not completely off the list anymore.Sebastian, you are a true diamond of a business owner.You have earned my respect.ORIGINAL REVIEW:I took my Audi A5 to ArborMotion to have a few repairs made early in May, 2023.One of those repairs was the rear-defroster. I took it, they did some troubleshooting, and decided it was a relay. I was told the relay was replaced. However, the next time I need the defroster... it did not work. I took in for an issue with the AC, and told them told them that the defroster wasnt working still. Came and picked it up. Told it was all set.. next time I go to use it. Still doesnt work. Take it in again, were almost in July now... and get told. The weather is too warm now. We cant diagnose the rear defroster.This is not to mention that I had the car in 3 times before they could figure out an AC issue, and 4 times so they could adjust the position of the Shift pattern, which I had to draw the tech a picture of the H-pattern and where it was sticking before they could fix it.Maybe the BMW and Posrche Techs are awesome. But Ill never take my Audi there again.Went to Stadium Auto Service last week, the Audi tech was able to quickly diagnose the issue, found a ground loop filter that was bad, and was able to order the part to fix it in an hour.More than 2 months and multiple visits without a solution....Or an hour and done....Lets just say... I know where Im taking my car from now on.

I had to have all my brakes done and it took a few hours longer due to their practice of getting the best parts for my Miata. They checked to see what were the best reviewed brake parts and ensured that what they installed would last longer than the regular aftermarket parts. Good Job Arbor Motion!

Comment: I have been taking our cars to ArborMotion for years and have had a good experience every time. Recently took my wifes car there because of a loud clunking in the front end. I was impressed with how much effort they put in to locating the problem. Many shops would just have suggested replacing everything. Instead, they replaced one axle, which clearly was bad, and then located the noise coming from a lower control arm. Their work is always high quality and customer service is excellent.

They work on domestic brands also. Check-in, keeping me posted on progress, and check-out were all smooth and fast. The service advisor is an excellent communicator and made sure my expectations were set so I could plan accordingly. The car was washed to perfection. And I have to provide a special call out to Steve who is an impressive courtesy driver that engaged in intelligent conversation during my transport. My son said it wasnt that bad, but when my grandson heard me coming from around the corner, I could only imagine replacing the entire exhaust system! First trip took care of the warning (idiot) lights which restored cruise control, PSM, etc. But, despite work done didn’t fix the air bag system issue. They are always polite and prompt, and depending on the length of time required for the repairs, they either give me a lift home or provide a loaner. Since I drive my cars up to and past 200,000 miles, there can be a lot of complicated problems to solve, and they always do so quickly and professionally. Comment: Arbormotion does top quality work, communicates really transparently about each decision point, and seems to be really fair and honest with customers. I had my car towed to their shop unannounced after having accidentally put regular gas into a diesel car. Despite being booked weeks out, they began working on my vehicle, and it’s somewhat rare problem, almost immediately. It ended up taking a month for them to work through the issues, but mostly because I hadn’t scheduled ahead, plus they had to research the correct fix, and I told them it was my second car and I wasn’t in a hurry. Bringing this problem to Arbormotion was a great decision, and my 2004 Golf TDI is running as well or maybe even a little better than it has in years. I’ll never bring my cars to a dealer again, Arbormotion is great!

Comment: This is a honest review, coming from a real customer who has done a decent amount of work on my own cars. Ill provide a summary for those who dont want to read something so long. Then details below for those that do.Overall Summary: A quality shop that focuses on doing the right thing for the customer and their safety, as well as focus on long term cost of ownership instead of up front price. They really do want to provide a good experience for the customer,, especially if you have an issue with the work.Now, up front costs could be higher than other shops in Ann Arbor and ArborMotion could over-engineer/over-recommend a job or replacement, but in my opinion, is all within good reason and justification. Not to nickle and dime you for more money.Details----------------------------------------The Shop: Very clean shop with clean and organized bays as well. Someone did mention it gives dealer vibes, which is true in a sense, but I dont see a problem with that. They use software to send you case notes, pictures and to get written approval, which in my opinion makes things very convenient.The Pricing: Labor rates, in my opinion are fair for a shop of this size and skill level of labor force. You could find cheaper labor rates at some smaller shops, but Id still bring my car here for the level of service and quality backup. Markup on parts also was fair (not great, but not so expensive) as I compared ArborMotion to online OEM distributors. They fell in between the middle among competitors for OEM part pricing, which for a shop in my opinion, is pretty good. Also have to keep in mind, that they do service high end cars as well so rates may not be like a shop that focuses only on Hondas or Toyotas.The Experience: I had the front passenger lower control arm repaired on my 10 MazdaSpeed3 - brought it in because it snowed and I dont have a garage anymore. When I received the diagnosis and quote for parts, the service rep accurately knew details specifically about the LCA on my Mazda. In this case the bushing is unique and cannot simply be replaced standalone. Parts were replaced and vehicle was repaired completely to the level of quality I expected. Ive driven over a few thousands miles at this time of this review with no issues (will update as I go). Their tech provided a inspection results form, which DID NOT over recommend any unneeded repairs. Everything they had noted on their inspection were items that I agree and known needed to be replaced.I did not feel pressure to repair anything extra with them either. Thats a huge plus.What may be unique about my experience is that there was one instance of something that I was not 100% satisfied with. I reached out to management and they truly went BEYOND expectations to resolve my issue. This included meeting in person to discuss the issue, re-assess the issue on the vehicle and then take proper action to truly ensure I was satisfied with my experience and the shop. This at the end is completely why I would pay a bit more to obtain the absolute right level of service and know that the shop would resolve my issues, rather than pay a little less up front and then run into an issue where I know there would be no follow up support.This last aspect of my experience is the main reason I will continue to bring my vehicles here for servicing on items that I cannot or will not do myself.

After the diagnosis I received the estimate for the work to be done, approved it over the phone and was told that they would try to get the work done that day, which they did. The guys at ArborMotion found that one of the front brake calipers had seized up, and after checking the condition of all the brakes, they recommended replacing the rotors and calipers in front. Comment: I have used Arbor Motion (Swedish) for many years, decades. So it pains me a bit to leave this review.I ordered a set of winter tires for my car from TireRack, and had them shipped to AM. Setting up the appointment was super easy and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Sadly that’s where the positives end. After picking up my car everything appeared normal; so I began a 200+ mile trip up north.My low tire warning went off about 2 hours into my drive, I figured no big deal they just didn’t reset the pressure on the computer. So when I stopped for fuel I reset the values, but then decided to check the pressure. Three of the four tires were way under inflated, 20 psi, one was set correctly at 40. So I filled the under inflated tires and continued my trip. I wouldn’t complain about this if the next two things didn’t happen...My car sat overnight up north, the next morning I woke to two compeletly pancake flat tires. I aired them up and found neither would hold air at all. So I had to have my car flatbedded to discount tire in Traverse City. Well they found the problem right away, AM reused the old valve stems, rather than replacing them when they mounted the tires. This $1.25 part (per wheel) cost me a 200 dollar tow, and then another 65 dollars to dismount and replace all 4 valve stems.AM charges 165+ dollars to mount and balance these tires, but didn’t replace the $1.25 valve stems? If they would have said, “for 5 bucks more we recommend replacing them”, I would have said yes obviously. I guess I was just used to AM being a really through “Indy Shop”, who always went above and beyond.I guess like everything times change, and it’s not always for the best.*Edit 04/07/2018Sabastion went out of his way to make everything right, I have not stopped using AM for work. In fact just this past week all of my cars were due for various services and tire changes. This was all done in great fashion, also Doug (who owns the detailing company that works with AM) is outstanding and did some great work on one of my cars.I would recommend seeing Doug for detail services anytime, and I still do send people to AM if asked for a recommendation.

The light-colored interior was showing every speck of dirt and grime it had collected since I bought it, but when I picked the car up yesterday it was spotless - the door thresholds, the spots where winter slop sometimes leaks off the edge of the floormat, the place where the seat belt rubs/discolors the seat leather, and pretty much every other interior surface - all perfectly clean.If you enjoy driving a clean car, consider leaving yours with these folks. If you’re trying to come up with a birthday present for your car-enthusiast spouse, this would be a good choice!Update, 1 year later:3 months after Arbor Motion detailed my G37 last year, I totaled it. :-( I replaced it with a 1YO Q50, and last week I had Arbor Motion do their premium interior detail service for me. As before, they did an impossibly good job: the cars interior looks like it just rolled out of the factory. Comment: I was referred to Arbor Motion by a colleague at work. Up until then I had been using Belle Tire for repairs and maintenance on my 2002 5 series BMW. I knew immediately that it would be a quality experience. Drew and Jason took a consultative approach, discussed various options with me and offered flexible alternatives on OEM parts. The technicians did an amazing job replacing my front struts and lower control arms. Since my first visit Ive had the car back for two minor repairs and Arbor Motions renowned detailing service. I cant imagine taking my vehicle anywhere else. I would highly recommend Arbor Motion to anyone but specifically to owners of European Luxury Sport Cars or Sedans and Japanese Luxury models. They have an excellent relationship with part suppliers and there techs are typically master certified on the particular models they specialize in (Volvo, BMW, Lexus, Porsche). I decided to give Arbor Motion a try, as my husband had been happy with their service. In addition to replacing the battery, they looked over the filters and oil and figured out that I was overdue for my 80K mile service. They shop bays are clean and organized and each features a computer terminal, which allows the techs to accurately diagnose and repair even the most advanced vehicle systems. They also feature a detailing service and will wash your vehicle after service-dealership level service without the drama.I discovered Arbor Motion while collecting quotes for a major drivetrain repair on my vehicle. Drew provided a detailed quote, explained the repair and also came in $200 less than any other shop in Ann Arbor (I called 10 other shops, both local and national chains). Following the repair, which took 2 days less than estimated, I was surprised to find that that the completed work cost $400 less than the original estimate. Major win!Mike and Drew provided great service throughout, and I will be bringing my other vehicles here in the future. Highly recommended.

Comment: I am on a cross country trip from California to Florida. I am doing this in a 1975 BMW 2002. While visiting friends in Ann Arbor, the car experienced a major oil leak. Uncertain about the extent of the problem, my friends and I examined import car specialists in Ann Arbor. Based on Arbor Motions reviews, I called, explained my situation, asked if they had experience with the 2002 model, and made my sense of urgency clear. Arbor Motion committed to a same day diagnosis and assured me that they are familiar with the 2002. On that basis I had the car towed to the shop. I was immediately impressed by the number of bays, the cleanliness of the facility, and the friendliness of the staff. One of the bays had another 2002 which made me very comfortable that the car was in good hands. I left the car at the shop and was contacted before 5pm to be told that the problem was minor and I could pick up the car. The person who I first spoke to at the shop, Chuck, was the person that called me. Hes very friendly and personable. In addition, hes a good mechanic since it appears he was the primary trouble shooter. Excellent communication! When I made a comment about the source of parts, Chuck identified two of the most respected and reasonable 2002 parts suppliers nationally. He offered that if it was my preference to source the parts myself, that I could. Since I was not able to pick up the car for another three days, Chuck assured me the car would be safe and that there was no storage cost. The cost to fix the leak (an inappropriately installed oil filter) was minimal and the staff wished me well with the rest of my trip which had been uneventful until this. A very good experience!

Ive been a loyal customer for the past eight years, and have continued to take my Volvo there even after moving to Rochester, NY, and Chicago.At about 4:30pm on Christmas eve, I unrolled my windows and and couldnt roll them back up. I had to drive back to Chicago on Christmas morning, and anyone who has lived through a mid-western winter knows how unpleasant driving with the windows down in winter would be. My husband suspected a fuse had been blown, so tried replacing it, twice, to no avail. I quickly called ArborMotion and asked if they were still open. Tim, the Operations Manager, answered and told me to bring my car in right then. When we arrived, we noticed that it was completely empty except for Tim who had stayed behind to help me with my minor car trouble. Comment: I highly recommend Arbor Motion. Chuck and one of the mechanics went above and beyond to repair a digital gauge in my car. They hadnt done anything like that before so they looked up Youtube videos to see how it was done. It was a mattter of re-soldering tiny wires attached to the back of the gauge. If I had gone to the dealership they would have replaced the whole gauge and charged me hundreds of dollars more then Arbor Motion did. Ill definitely keep coming back to Arbor Motion.
