How many shops do you know that give a follow up call to make sure of customer satisfaction? How many shops do you know that care after they collect on the invoice? American Auto Works and Hector far exceed expectations. From the ease of drop off after hours to the follow up days after the repairs are made to make sure everything had been resolved. This is one of those businesses that put customers first. I am truly happy to have had my truck give me such a hard time (I spent hours trying to locate the problem...in which I gave up and called in a professional). Not only did he find the illusive problem, he replaced the failing part and resolved the issue in a matter of a few days (I had spent 4 months replacing parts according to codes and had no luck). I am glad to have met my match to meet a shop full of outstanding people. I recommend them to anyone that wants great customer service. skilled mechanics, and business ethics that are unsurpassed. I know this sounds over the top....they are, I am not a paid reviewer. I walked in at their mercy; a first time customer at my wits end and received the best care ever from any auto repair shop. Comment: An exceptional place to have your car worked on!!I have a 1976 MGB and the mechanic I had trying to adjust the carburators apparently coulnt get enough help from Google. Frustrated, I thought where can I possibly find someone in Genesee County that could work on a foreign car. Finally through a recommendation I asked Hector at American Autoworks if he could work on my MG and it was like asking a dentist if he can fix teeth.One appointment and the engine is running great and I can take trips without concerns. Comment: I serviced my BMW 535i Xdrive at American Autoworks and this is my first experience with Hector the owner. He is a genuine person, honest and most of all he fixed the issue I had. The people who work there are very personable and you can tell they are like a family. Comment: My auto repair saga began in June of this year, 2020.20 days after a routine oil change my truck began to blow blueish white smoke from the tailpipe. Returned to location of oil change. They suspected, due to the high milage, it had started using oil. Suggested that I take it to a dealer. I did.The dealer quoted me a repair of 5K or a new engine installed for 14K. I took my truck home,and began searching for a good repair shop that wouldnt hit so seep in my pocket.Of the two that I contacted, neither had the tools to do a compression test. Gave recommendation to contact Hector at American Autoworks. Made appointment, took truck in.Test completed, and found an Evap leak. Repaired that issue. 1 week later truck was still having same problem. Returned to American Autoworks. They replaced a PCV valve. Again, brought truck home. A few days later it started having the same problem. Only worse. Smoke blowing from my tailpipe. Dash lights flashing, engine bogged down, and shutting off. This time I had to have it towed back to the shop.After further inspection and somewhat baffling, scratch your head moments. Problem found. Hector called me, told me of the problem and said he was just going to order the part and not charge me for it. He said I have to make this right!I cried! He did not know of all the mechanical issues, or replacements that I had to have done during the summer. Extra money was depleted. Money that was needed for new tires for my truck and to have electricity in the horse barn, had to be used to repair truck and tractor.Yesterday, Sept 25th. I picked up my truck. I met Hector Garcia for the first time face to face. This precious man of integrity, was a God send. He honored his word, and did not charge me a dime.I am still in awe of his generosity. I thought perhaps I would pay for labor, at the very least. Nope! Nothing! Zero! Who does that? What business does that?Words cannot express enough the feeling that I have for him. My 2019 VW Jetta had numerous problems after taking it to a local VW dealership to get a routine oil change. I was unable to drive it and it had to get towed. Hector picked it up after it sat at the dealership for a week and got the parts needed and got got it fixed as quickly as he was able to while saving me as much as possible on my high deductible. When it was done and I returned my rental car, he had one of his staff members pick me up and bring me to my car. Monica the service adviser was prompt in notifying me of the results. I needed brakes (which I already suspected) along with front ball joints. I drove off and I have to say they did a great job and my truck is operating like brand new. No leaks, steers well as they included an alignment with ball joint replacement. Comment: I recently took my 2009 Tahoe on a trip to Atlanta, Georgia. The next day when I got home I got a blinking check engine light with a pronounced ticking sound. I had initially taken the vehicle to another recommended repair shop that was a couple miles closer than American Auto Works simply because I didnt want to have my engine blow up driving it the extra couple miles. It was diagnosed as a lifter failure in the Active Fuel Management system which is very common in the 5.3L engines. After doing my research I knew I wanted to do an AFM delete kit on the engine so that I would not have a recurring problem. The shop I took it to didnt know how to install the DOD/AFM kits and wanted a ridiculous price for replacing all of the lifters and retaining the AFM system which is what caused the problem in the first place.I called Hector and he said they know how to install the AMS racing DOD/AFM delete kit that I wanted and they can do all of the necessary tuning in-house to make sure that the new kit would run properly without any check engine lights. With American Auto Works I was able to get exactly what I wanted at a lesser price than the competition and with a great warranty. Not only did we solve the root of the problem but everything was done in a timely manner considering that all of the lifters were replaced including the camshaft. They kept me updated throughout the process and were more than happy to let me check on the progress of the repairs as they were being done.I am very satisfied with the work that was done and I will surely be recommending American Auto Works in the future.

Comment: Took my car in right before they closed for the day. Tt was leaking trans fluid, they called me a few hours after they opened telling me what the price was going to be. I told them to fix it and after a few more hours they called saying it was done. Ive never had this fast of a turnaround time for auto repairs. the price for parts and labor was very reasonable. I will definitely take it back to them for any other repair needs.

In the past; every time I had taken my car into a garage I had always felt like it was the roll of the dice as to what kind of service I would get and how bad I would feel about getting taken advantage. This is the first time in my life that I got my repairs completed, not felt like I was taken advantage of and was confident that everything was done to perfection. Uniquely, I felt good leaving the garage with my vehicle after the repairs. It was also great working with the owner Hector and his wife Angela; they extended the kind of personal attention and service that made a huge difference. Comment: American Auto Works had worked on my car a few times before this last problem I had with my Jimmy. They had always worked on my vehicle and got it back to me quickly. I have a real hard to figure out problem right now and they had gone over all of the scenarios and found another major problem that I got fixed. The car was fixed but the problem started again. Hector and his crew are wonderful. I took the car in on a Saturday morning and Chris worked on it right away and even after work was over. I was given a loaner. They had to keep the car for a couple of days but found that the car was doing the problem and fixed it. Hector said if it does it again, he would take care of me right away to get me back on the road safely. Best Customer Service EVER!

Comment: I highly recommend American Auto Works in Burton, MI if any of you are having any issues with your car. I leave for Indiana tomorrow and well three days ago my car started making this disgusting noise and every time I would drive, my car sounded like I had popcorn popping underneath the hood lol so of course I went to American Auto Works to have my buddy Hector check it out. Even though Hector was completely booked this weekend he took the time to really listen to me talk about what was going on with my car. Well after a diagnostic check I had learned that my flywheel was broke which basically meant absolutely NO driving. At this point I was having a full blown panic attack because I was leaving in just two days so I had no idea if he could even fit me in or if I was going to have to leave another day. Hector looked at me and told me that he could fix it, and that I would be on the road in no time. He gave me hope. Sure enough, my car was finished a day before I had to leave and he offered a price that was unbelievably good! He treated me JUST like family. The work done on my car looked absolutely fantastic and he even showed me what was wrong with my car so I could actually SEE what he was talking about. This establishment is absolutely amazing and I cannot stress enough how grateful I am for Hector, and his wife Amy. Such a lovely place and even lovelier people. Comment: I have an Infiniti QX56 that broke down. It was going to cost me $200 to have it towed to the dealership in Troy so I tried a local shop. They couldnt figure out what was wrong so they referred me to another shop that specializes in electrical problems. The second shop was unable to figure out what was wrong either. Discouraged, I called the tow company to take it to the dealership and the driver told me about Hector at American Auto Works.I skeptically called and explained my situation. Hector got on the phone and explained that there wasnt too many vehicles that he couldnt figure out but they were quite backed up and it might be a few days before he could get to my vehicle. By the next morning, Hector called and my vehicle was ready to be picked up. Amazing customer service!!! Plus he fixed the problem. Comment: Ive been going to Hector Garcia and American Auto Works for work on my cars for years. Plain and simple...Hector knows his stuff with all makes and models. Over the years Ive owned cars from BMW, Acura, Honda, Lexus, Pontiac and Chevrolet and he had no trouble with any of them. Hes even helped me with body work from fender-benders. He does a great job of explaining what needs to be done and offering choices and recommendations. Additionally, he always is responsive even if you call in with a simple question about something going on with your car or truck. Ive appreciated his knowledge and workmanship in the past and know Ill need him in the future.

Comment: American Auto Works recently installed a custom air conditioning system in our 1936 Cord convertible. The system blends with all the beautiful chrome work under the hood. Their meticulous, hand crafted design engineering would be the envy of any car collector.
