Comment: I recommend taking any mechanical issue with your vehicle to 4th Street Auto. Good, quick, and honest work. My family has used them for years. Took my truck in for heater problem, expecting it to be an expensive repair. Got a call a few hours later that the problem was found, they clearly explained the problem and suggested a fix that was much cheaper and probably would last years before having to go the more expensive way. Rare to find a mechanic that could have easily made money off me with the expensive fix, but suggested I could go the less expensive route to buy a few years and maybe even much longer before dumping a whole lot of money into it. Even though I live 20 miles from here, it’s where I’ll be bringing all my repairs for now on.Thank you 4th Street Auto Care!

Comment: My fuel pump went out, called 4th Street and talked to Bill. He gave me the number to A&M Towing. The towing guy was there in 15 minutes. Luckily I had a 2nd vehicle to drive. Told 4th Street Garage there was no rush on the repair. Judging from the amount of cars in their lot to be repaired I was expecting a week before I got my truck back. 2 days my truck was done. Good, efficient and knowledgeable staff of mechanics, and Bill is an organizational GURU.

Comment: 5 stars is the only option here. Bill is great at clearly communicating what needs to be done, what should be done, and what your options are. I have the benefit of having a bit of mechanical aptitude, along with knowing what my prior mechanic told me about various work I wanted done, or anticipated needing. 4th Street got all the work done I wanted that my prior mechanic said was unnecessary or would be too expensive, and it was performed promptly and at less cost. My 2013 vehicle with 155K miles is performing beautifully. As a side note, when I Im buying cars or motorcycles, I look around the property for general tidiness. This garage is super clean! That tells me a lot about attention to detail. Thank you for the great service!

They actually test drove my vehicle (unlike the dealer) and identified a problem with a wheel bearing that I had been complaining about for over a year to my dealer. I dropped my vehicle off in the morning and the repair was done same day. I can already tell the difference when driving! Bill was very clear with pricing and what they were fixing on my vehicle. They are conveniently located in Royal Oak. Already planning on going back for future car repairs and oil changes and other maintenance.

The guys here are knowledgeable, talented and most importantly, honest.I was in recently for an oil change (that they were able to squeeze me in for on very short notice) and upon inspection it was noted that my vehicle was leaking around the axle. Bill explained the situation to me and advised that it was something we should continue to watch as it was only a minor leak. Other shops would have tried to force the sale and thats where 4th Street differs with their honesty and integrity. Now I am aware and can plan to have the repair made as my budget allows. Comment: When coming to this location I found out that they were not a transmission shop as I thought and I had searched for on Google? Regardless they gave me a price on what the diagnostic charge would be which was a little high but I accepted it as I had no option to drive around and find another location to help me because my car was not able to go over 20 miles an hour. They were very nice got me in right away and then they worked with me on the price they had originally given and although it was a little high I accepted it as I didnt want to go searching for repair elsewhere. My car is now running and I thought repaired. They were very knowledgeable and repaired my vehicle within an hour and a half so I was very happy.P.S. I had to return the next day, my battery had gotten run down by my fault and car was doing the same thing as in days previous, tech explained that the computer had to reset and was in recovery mode? Okay so 2 days later same issue, had to ask my brother to help me now, could not afford mechanic, cost me $35 for the part and now my car is fixed! The sensor was the problem and I spent all that money for a problem that was not there? Im not saying they are not good mechanics, they just did not look at the cheap fix which I understand but in my case it hurt me financially going forward, I will survive as usual just wont send my friends there...

At the end of the service, I got a report card on my cars overall health that gave a condition status for all major parts of the car, which was very easy to understand. Usually with a mechanic there is minimal communication/contact, but 4th street auto care was completely transparent and open throughout the whole process. They even provided me with options regarding my repair, rather than trying to get me to take the most expensive route without telling me about other options, which I have had happen at other shops.

The staff are all friendly people and they care about what they do and about the cars that theyre working on. One point about the staff, theyve all been there since I started with them and that means that they get along well. Good relationships between workers leads to better quality work. Theyre honest and do excellent work. I dont recall ever taking a car back to have something redone. Two of the cars are over 20 years old (one will be 30 later this year). These are cars that a lot of mechanics know little about, but 4th Street does very well with them. Ive recommended them to other people and will continue to do so.

Comment: Wonderful customer service. Our car broke down on a Sunday and the owner responded to us via text to let us know we could drop our car off and would be looked at first thing Monday morning. And it ACTUALLY was! Imagine that people doing what they say they are going to do!It ended up being an easy fix (new battery). But the price was great and the service was even better. Both of our Dads were mechanics and took care of all our car problems. They both passed away within the last few years so it is nice to have someone we can trust again. Thank you!

Comment: Top notchI cant say enough nice things about the service at 4th Street Auto. I wouldnt bring my car anywhere else. I just brought my car in for an oil change and they noticed a leak in the axle seal. Any other shop wouldve told me the service was needed with a price quote, but instead they told me it was likely under warranty and to take it to the dealer.Their prices are very reasonable for actual service also - theyve been taking great care of my cars for ten years now.

All I ever want from a auto repair shop is to tell me 3 things: 1) What has to be fixed right away 2) What can be fixed sometime later 3) What needs to be fixed but is not a priority and is fine like it is. They do that for you. Trust is everything-highly recommend

Comment: My truck started vibrating really bad on my way home from work (I work the midnight shift). I called them at 7 a.m. when they opened and asked if they could look at it for me. They had me bring it right down and by 11:30 a.m. the same day, it had been diagnosed, fixed, and I was taking it back home. I will definitely be taking my vehicle back when I need service again!

If they feel someone else will be able to perform a better, more cost efficient service, they will send you to one of their trusted associates. I like 4th Street Auto because they are always very busy (I drive by at least once a day). I figured, to be that busy they must be doing a good job and treating their customers well.

Comment: I brought my car in because I thought my brakes were bad and had to be replaced, fully expecting to pay hundreds to have it done. Rick and the guys at 4th street auto told me the brakes were fine and had plenty of life left, and didnt charge me to check them out. Nothing is better than an honest mechanic!

When Vinsetta Garage closed on Woodward, the owner recommended his customers to take their business to 4th Street, and that should tell you a lot.
